Experts in child development agree that simple is better when introducing babies to basic concepts. Colors from Nature embraces a clean design, using bright colors and bold, familiar images from nature to teach colors to the youngest of readers. Each spread introduces babies to a different color, along with objects that are associated with that color. For instance, fuzzy ducklings waddle across the "yellow" spread, while green spring peas dot the "green" spread. Each spread features photography that nearly pops off the page, set against solid-colored backgrounds with minimal art and text to engage babies rather than overwhelm them. The padded covers are squeezable and the board pages are sturdy enough for chubby hands to turn. The book has been carefully vetted by a pediatric psychologist.
Colors from Nature will make a welcome addition to baby's first learning library.

A perfect book for Story Time. It's a board book, and is so simple. The images a large and colorful, and the text is minimal and has rhyming. Still, the book provides lots of opportunities for dialogging with the children, and the dialog can be adapted to the age group. My group of 4-year-olds seemed to love it, and where very excited about trying to guess which color would come next.
