The snowy Rocky Mountains - No place for a newborn...

Kidnapped, blindfolded and driven to a desolate Rocky Mountain lodge - for midwife Rachel Devon it's the most terrifying birth she has ever attended to. But now that the baby's mother is dead, it's up to Rachel to get the child to safety. Much to Rachel's surprise, one of the kidnappers helps her escape. Cole McClure claims to be an undercover FBI agent, though Rachel doesn't trust him for a minute. He's got that sexy bad-boy edge, the type Rachel's been burned by way too often. But Cole comes through and with a blizzard bearing down on them, with killers and cops hot on their trail, they team up to find this innocent baby a home. And try to resist temptation when they're "forced" to share a bed through the cold winter nights....

Mountain Midwife Reviews

A very quick read from start to finish. Action packed right from start to finish.

Rachel, a midwife, got caught in the crossfires of a team of robberies on the run from their latest casino heist when suddenly one of them goes into labour! Cole (an undercover FBI agent) kidnaps Rachel to help with the birth. Suddenly a scary moment turns into a sweet moment into a scary moment that leaves Rachel, Cole and the newborn on the run through the mountains in the middle of a blizzard. While the action is certainly non-stop and heart pounding for the most part, the story development sort of falls apart a little after the second half, same with character development.

Overall, a decent and quick read.

This was a quick read, and enjoyable. It was predictable and your average romance with a touch of intrigue. There was nothing wrong with the book or the story, but it wasn't original or extraordinary at all. It's short, heartwarming at times, and pleasant enough to spend an evening reading. It's worth a few hours of your time, but you probably won't find it terribly memorable, or in any way surprising.

I liked the brisk pace of this novel, and the hero's back story was really intriguing, in fact I would've loved to learn more about him. The heroine was sensible and cool-headed, although I was disappointed in the resolution, which seemed to arrive too quickly and easily. Worth reading for the punchy action and the romance.

This is a romantic thriller. A midwife is kidnapped to deliver a baby and not only finds herself in danger of being murdered but also falls in love with her kidnapper. Edge of the seat suspense but all ends well. A very rapid read.

    2.5*

Started out pretty good, but lost momentum halfway through. The writing is serviceable, but somewhat stilted.

The story flowed well and the storyline moved rapidly. All the good characteristics of a suspense.

I liked this book. I liked the characters. The story is really good. I liked how they worked together to save themselves and to save little Goldie. They are a great couple. They found each other in the most difficult situation. Worth the read.
