A chance meeting on a train to Tokyo sends two girls named Nana on a collision course with destiny!

Nana "Hachi" Komatsu hopes that moving to Tokyo will help her make a clean start and leave her capricious love life behind her. Nana Osaki, who arrives in the city at the same time, has plans to score big in the world of rock'n'roll. Although these two young women come from different backgrounds, they quickly become best friends in a whirlwind world of sex, music, fashion, gossip and all-night parties!

Nana's band Blast is taking off in a big way--from sold-out club dates to a record label waving a contract at them. But the Trapnest menace still lurks, stealing away everything she cares for. Trapnest took her boyfriend, and even though Ren is back in her life, his band still comes first. And now her trusty sidekick Hachi is being lured away by Trapnest bassist Takumi. But this time, Nana won't give up without a fight!

Ahhhh Ahhh Nobu! I'm so so so team Nobu haha I was rooting for him the entire time I read this manga. I loved it and I loved that we are being introduced to a potential love interest. The only thing that I did not like about this volume was the relationship between Nana and Takumi. I know she's heartbroken and lonely, but I felt like she was really insecure. In a lot of ways her insecurity really bothered me. I didn't like that she ran into the arms of someone she knew wasn't good for her and she did it solely out of loneliness. I love Nana and I think she has so much potential, but she's got to make better decisions/choices.

I'm not pulling for Hachi to continue living her fanfiction fantasy. I am team Nobu please he's so cute. I'm not sure what to say about Shin and Riera because I don't want to be the centre of attention. Please. You know what i was gonna say anyways.

What I learned from this book is to stay away from asshole guitar players. Poor Hachi.

Oh, the drama! Oh, the tangled relationships! Oh my gosh - Nana is so good!!! :P It offers all of the drama you could possibly crave with none of the guilt. Yay!

I just love the characterization of Hachi and Nana, and the minor characters as well, honestly. Yeah, the whole story is basically a big tangle of angst, but it's so realistically presented that it's enthralling.

And as always, the last page contains some haunting lines from the future that make the reader wonder what happened to the Nanas that apparently divided them? Whatever it is, I'll bet it's a doozy. (i can't wait to find out!)

My one complaint is the publisher's fault - what happened to the cultural notes? I was expecting to see some notes explaining Tanabata, but there aren't any. Well, Wikipedia to the rescue I suppose ...

    *3.75

I'm really enjoying these books. I have so much fun with longer graphic novel series where you really get to follow multiple characters across different periods of time. This volume focuses more on different members of the band, especially Reira, Shin, and Nobu, and I liked that. Also, I felt like mistakes were made by some characters (both Nanas in particular) last volume, and seeing the outcome of that was interesting.

    3.75/5 stars.

Nana K....she's really going through it in this one. This vol is definately making me wonder how foolish I'd act if I met my celeb crush in real life too but Nana K's life is such a mess right now haha

The more I read of this series, the more I fall in love with it. I just really enjoy all of the characters, main and secondary, and I'm so invested in what will be happening to them.

I hate Takumi so much my God why does he have to be the worst person ever.... My poor Hachi 💔

  • Princolitas

  • Pilos

A slight prelude to the mess that's about to unfold.
Still feel confused at the decision about Hachi's (and even Nobu) character development but for the first time she kind of admits her fixation with love at first sight and all is driven from feeling empty inside and that's kind of the glimpse I was waiting for and I do hope the manga will go more in depth about that.

  • Andrew Kristensen

Poor Hachi. Things are not looking good for her. I kinda feel for everyone involved. Hachi who knows she is making a poor decision. Nobu, who finally found the courage to put everything on the line, and Nana who seems to just not want to watch Hachi get hurt again as she inevitably will. I do wonder how/if Hachi and Nobu would work, but I want to see them try before Nobu hits it big with Blast. I can't put this series down...

  • Jenny Clark

Poor Nobu... And man do I despise Takumi... grrr. I love how alike Ren and Nana are and how sweet together. She is one headstrong woman! Shin... well he's cute and all but my lord is he one troubled guy or what??? I wanna know more about Yasu!! He's the mystery man now. Also, what happened to Nana????? Rawrg to many questions! I like how, even though this is pretty much a soap opera, everyone is fleshed out and you can get real invested in it.

The CONSTANT reiteration of women being "sluts" from two characters is bothering me MUCH. I'm hoping it's immature behavior from them though and that it'll stop.

Still loving the story though and:

    NOBU SWEETIE! <3

This volume was great. I finally feel like Yazawa is conveying ideas about relationship through this characters, instead of just doing romance. Which would be fine too, but this route she’s going is more interesting to me.
