Nana, Vol. 2 Reviews

I retract what I've just said; this is excellent. This manga is incredibly heartfelt and good-hearted. I apologise for labelling Nana 1 as childish; she is simply adorable and adds a special touch to this tale. Her love for Nana 2 also deeply moved me. Why didn't I grab it sooner? This manga follows both the Nana settling in Tokyo and doing roomates stuff.

Now I'm asking myself why didn't I start reading manga before now!? I never thought it would be this much fun.
This volume included the two Nanas departure to Tokyo and how they're trying to settle down after they've found a house together.

    Ah, Nana, Nana.

The story of the two of them rooming in Tokyo is okay. Nana #1 is still annoying. Nana #2 is still super cool but sad inside. They're both looking for love. . . .

There were so many pages ripped out of this manga! Actually, there wasn't much lost as far as story continuity which is good.

I plan to watch the Japanese movie when I get it from the library. It will be subtitled in English. It's ages since I've seen a Japanese movie. Looking forward to it. Not sure if my husband will be all that excited, but he'll give it a go. (No robots or monsters in this one.)

crying, i loved this so much

Here the story actually starts to move forward and, to be honest, this is probably my the best part of the story.
There is this detail that every now and then the story takes a meta turn as characters direct straight to the reader or reference previous Nana chapters while they are in full dialogue with other characters and that's just weird.
I still cannot get a good grip on Hachi's character, not that I'm expecting a lot from her but still her development isn't as ripe as Nana O's. Which by now, keeps on being my favorite.

Decided to re-read this volume as well now that I have little to nothing to read (my TBR is all for my vacation and I am through most of my library books of which I want to keep a few for after my vacation). This was fun! The Nana's meet, they get to live together, Nana (the oblivious one) tries to get used to live in Tokyo and how things work with her boyfriend along with finding a job. I really like Nana (oblivious) but at times I am just shaking my head, she acts way more like 15 years instead of 20. Nana (the cool one) was just awesome, though I wanted to give her a hug. I love that she is pro at carpentry.
The last scene was just wonderful. *cries*

this volume was good, i didn’t write a review on the first volume but i actually liked it only has the two chapters for the prologue (one for each nana). anyway this volume was a good start to the character’s story, however i do not like shouji ;-; he’s bothering me… nana osaki tho <3

also i gotta add i literally was tearing up at the end of chapter 4 ;-; scared for myself to read the rest of this series

I definitely enjoyed this volume more than the first one. I really liked seeing the two Nanas working off of each other and how their paths intertwined. I am actually looking forward to seeing where their story will go from here. 3.75/5 stars.

This volume felt a little more shallow than the first. However, I'm looking forward to reading further into this cute story.

Good so far, but I’m far more interested in the rock and roll Nana than the boy crazy one.

4.5 stars, rounding up to a 5 because I'm generous like that.

I enjoyed volume one, but I definitely felt like it was an improvement on the last one. It was necessary. A prologue of sorts. It set everything up perfectly for this book. But I was so happy to finally see the two Nana's meet. They're so different, but I have to agree with Junko on this one. Kinda like two peas in a pod. I like their dynamics together.

I still definitely prefer Nana O to Nana K, but Nana K improved in this one. I just would have liked a little more from Nana O's perspective. I don't think Shoji is all that good of a fit for Nana K, either. But something tells me toxic relationships are to be expected in this series. Anyway, I'm glad we finally got to see their chance meeting. Nana O looks incredible, as always. And I'm excited to see where this goes with Blast and both Nana's friendship.

I have to say though, I wish these bands were real. I'd love to actually hear Blast or Trapnest's music. They look cool and Nana O supposedly has this incredible voice and stage presence that captivates everyone who hears it, so if there were actual music for this, I'd be in heaven. Just reading about it makes me long to hear it. Makes me wonder how the author imagined her voice in their head when she was being written. That aspect is what drew me to this series to begin with, so I was really happy to see that come in at the end there.

Read this one in just a couple of hours, and I'm pleased to say I'll be continuing with the series. It's a quick, easy read that hits the spot in every way. Especially when you don't mind reading about a little bit of drama.

I enjoyed volume 2 a lot more than the first even if I'm still eager to see more. Now everything is starting to really fall into place and I love the characters, the humour and the drawings are stunning so I'll keep going for now.
