Food Wine Annual 2011: An Entire Year of Recipes (Food and Wine Annual Cookbook) Reviews

The first recipe I made from this book were the cardamom-cheddar straws, because I had nothing to go with the Israeli hummus from
the 2009 volume. They were perfect with the hummus.

Then, I made some maple-apple upside-down cake, which was the least of the four recipes I’ve made so far, and still very good. When flipped, there ends up a barely caramelized maple syrup/apple topping on the vanilla-buttermilk cake.

A few days ago, I made some Taiwanese sesame cucumbers to go along with the lemon roasted chicken from
the 2009 book. These were amazing—fresh cucumbers with toasted sesame oil and red pepper.

Last night I started frozen maple-mousse pie with candied cranberries. It has to sit in the freezer overnight, and I just had a slice before writing this review. Easily the best of the recipes, and it just disappears like a snowflake when it touches your mouth.

Also bookmarked: Fried tofu with spicy ginger-sesame dressing.

Good collection of the recipes for the year. Blend of ones that are complicated, and some that are simple. Well organized, and for the recipes that have pictures, well done photography. Many recipes can be found on Pinterest in their archives, but if you prefer to have the book in your hand so you can consult and make notes (Yes, I do mark in my cookbooks), this is a decent one to own.

Pretty cookbook. Recipes are pretty good. We like the sweet and spicy butternut squash recipe. We just made it for the second time. The first time we used minced garlic and the dish was okay. This time we put in whole garlic cloves and it was delicious!

A good collection of recipes from the prior year of Food and Wine Magazine. The thing I like in particular about this collection is that, unlike many others of these types of collections, it's categorized into traditional courses, as opposed to the months. Makes finding recipes a whole lot easier!

Good assortment of recipes - and they can be mixed and matched to make an entire meal.
