One World Vegetarian Cookbook Reviews

  • Kendrick

Solid cookbook of new and classic vegetarian recipes from different parts of the world

3.5 - i have a different "global" vegetarian cookbook that i overall enjoy more than this one. there were a few things in here i'd be interested to try, and the recipes are for the most part pretty simple, but i didn't feel extremely excited by it overall. that being said, i liked the sort of "compilation" approach of the recipes (submitted by friends of the author who hail from different countries around the world). oh, and the graphics/illustrations/photos are a little questionable or perhaps trying too hard to be cool.

I have tried a few recipes from this book. The lentil recipes were pretty good whereas the casserole-type dishes were ok. Unless you have prior experience cooking, one might find themselves confused as some of the recipes are missing steps and instructions such as the size of dish needed, the temp. the burners need to be set at, items that need to be removed before serving (Bay Leaves, Cinnamon Sticks, Cardamom Pods, etc.), things like that. Overall, this book offers recipes with good flavors and ideas but it is definitely lacking.

This book ended up being awful. It's as though not all of the recipes were tested. I had to make major tweaks to most of the recipes I tried. I will say this: it's a good showing in terms of varied world meatless cuisine, and the pictures were good.

Beautiful images and I apprecatied the inclustion of the country of origin and back-story for many recipes. We ate the Butternut Squash Curry for dinner last night and I'm enjoying it just as much for lunch today.

I really enjoyed this cookbook. I have always loved and longed for international dishes but we recent transitioned to vegan so this cookbook has so many helpful recipes. Plus, most recipes are vegan and if they aren't they are easy take make vegan. Can't wait to try so many of them.

This cookbook is quite a find. The recipes are unexpected, simple, healthy, and (so far) delicious. Plus, there are beautiful photos throughout. Highly recommended!

Excellent variety from around the world. The recipes have a lot of varied ingredients but nothing that you cannot find. Very flavorful with lots of veggies!!! And protein, too.

If I had fewer general vegetarian cookbooks this would be on my shelf--very good.

  • Donna

Some lovely looking recipes in here - plenty to try out.
