Twenty generations of sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers and grandparents from the Thompson and Abel part of my extended family. This represents a quarter of my ancestors and the first of a series of books detailing my family tree. Danmark-Norge and the Duchy of Swabia represent the names of the countries of my oldest relatives at the time of their birth. This is ultimately a story of America as immigration brings them to the United States. Most of the families would at least pass through the state of Wisconsin, where my family has lived for over one hundred and fifty years. Farmers, soldiers, citizens--the literal expression of Frederick Jackson Turner's Frontier theory, spanning from coast to coast.
