The Power of Awareness: New Edition Incorporating Nevilles Later Notes Reviews

FIRST READING FINISHED 7/12/12: One of the best books I've ever read. REALLY good and highly recommended!
REREAD 10/28/14: Still one of my favorite books. Create a burning desire for what you want, then act as though the wish is fulfilled. Believe it to be true to manifest whatever you're looking to get out of life. Short book, lots of thought provoking chapters.
THIRD READING 5/8/16: Well, it seems every two years I wind up reading this book. I first heard about it when I read Wayne Dyer's book "Wishes Fulfilled", which is also a great book and borrows heavily from this earlier work of Neville's. If you're unfamiliar with Neville, this is probably the best book of his to start with. It's very good. -
I enjoyed reading this book. These days, I can only read what I am truly guided to read... and upon reading this book, I was amazed at how it touched on so much that is up-front with me right now. However, this ought not to be amazing... as when I read what I am truly guided to.... it speaks to me right here and now. thank you.

'I AM' cannot be divided. 'I AM' is the feeling of permanent awareness. The very center of consciousness is the feeling of 'I AM' I may forget who I am, where I am, what I am but I cannot forget that I AM. The awareness of being remains, regardless of the degree of forgetfulness of who, where, and what I am. —Neville Goddard
It has been very noticeable that more than words, the way those same words are spoken have the tendency to move people. Take an example of der Führer of past Germany, Adolf Hitler, whose political gore found inspiration from the manipulated works of Friedrich Nietzsche, by his own sister. And he went along with the intent way before he thought he would. Manifesting anything that brings destruction or creativity to that which has been already created is possible. Why I am talking about Hitler is because he influenced something upon people that later brought havoc and the power of influence that I was impressed with by Neville Goddard was a mixture of his profound teachings and the way he gave those teachings.
Before reading The Power of Awareness, I would request everyone who is reading this review to listen to a few of his audio recordings that are available on Youtube (thanks to technology), and if those words, those profound words create an impact on you, which I am sure they will if humans as they are likely to be, receptive, then and only read proceed with reading the books. I am emphasizing on listening to them because I believe that the way they have been spoken hold the immense power of you realizing that you can now change your life, not by any exterior tool but I looking into God and that means looking into yourself and by looking in I mean 'Visualizing'. By God, I mean 'Imagination'.
The Power of Awareness includes twenty-seven chapters of the most powerful law of the universe that we have access to consciously and subconsciously— The Law of Assumption. This may give rise to a lot of perspectives before even studying the matter in scrutiny, but a little bit of curiosity and judgment or even astonishment is beautiful because those will all turn into a much beautiful state with awareness and consciousness of one shift.
Neville Goddard was a Guru and was very ahead of his time. -
A great book on the Law of Assumption. The central idea to feel what you want to become such that it has all the vividness of reality and to do this persistently, is repeated numerous times in the book.
I've read pieces by other advocates of the law, but none have expressed it more clearly than Goddard does. His teachings resonate the most with me. -
If you want to know the secret behind "The Secret" then this book is for you!
Nivelle wrote about the Secret long before the movie and the book were out... this no fluff book written in 1952 says it all... a life changing experience! -
This is as easy to understand as new age thought gets. I find this particularly impressive because the book was originally published in 1952. Neville is timeless.
-
Neville Goddard lectured and wrote his books long before law of attraction became a buzz word and before the documentary The Secret and other publications came out. I found it refreshing to read about his thoughts without all of today's theories and hype. The case studies sound convincing. One story about a young man who imagined himself honorably discharged from the army turns out to be his own experience.
One thing or advice is repeated over and over: you have to act and feel like what you desire has already been fulfilled; thinking, wishing, imagining it is not enough. It is not as easy as it may sound and cannot be repeated and emphasized enough.
As the bible is not relevant to me, I would have enjoyed this book even more if there were fewer bible quotes in it. But I could just skip those pages and enjoy the rest. -
Neville explains how you can consciously create your future by visualization and the power of assumption - by assuming that your wish is fulfilled and feeling as you would, were it fulfilled. Great book. He has a high level of consciousness. The book may be thought old-fashioned, having many references to the Bible. It appears that the content of the Bible expresses spiritual truths about abundance, creating your own reality, etc. in the form of metaphors.

I liked the book, but I didn't love it. It felt a little dated to me, but I can see how when it was originally published, this could have been a ground-breaking way to think, especially for the Western audiences. He talks about the Law of Assumption, which is similar to what's more popularly known as the Law of Attraction now.
I'm also aware that this is a favorite for many people, so this is just my 2 cents :) -
His books about attracting/manifesting abundance are amazing!!! I am rereading this one for about my fourth time.
-
One of the greatest ever reads. Life changing.
-
What I liked most about this book was the information provided in the least amount of pages. The Power of Awareness, in my opinion, is a feel good book, empowering and surprisingly short. Definitely a book that is easy to read and I personally would enjoy re-reading it again as a refresher on what most self-help, mind over matter books provide. I took my time enjoying this, and it will be read again.
-
This book is not one to read and review, instead to learn from day by day forever, at least that's how it seems right now, so I'm gonna put it in the "read" file. If I ever feel like writing a review of it, I will.
-
The wisdom contained in this book is amazing.
-
Fantastic!
-
Life-changingly good.
-
An amazingly powerful and liberating book that found me by chance.
-
THANK YOU NEVILLE

I always enjoyed and made me happy after reading it every time finishing Neville’s books :’)

Being aware of your circumstances gives you the power to change things. This book shows you how in a simple yet sophisticated method.

Like many books of its era, The Power of Awareness centers on one big idea and then provides endless examples and clarifications on that point to enmesh the idea into the readers head. The big idea here is that all of reality is originally caused by man's belief in it. All other activities, outcomes, thoughts, communications, and occurrences derive from that root cause.
The reason that I gave this book 3 stars is because I believe the central premise, which boils down to "You're manifesting every aspect of your reality and are solely responsible for the events of your life" is fatally flawed. I believe this was epitomized by the chapter that begins with Goddard attempting to rebut the objection from people who followed his recommendations regarding believing oneself to already have the outcome that they want to occur and not having it come to pass. His explanation for this is that there is a shortcoming in the 'naturalness' of the belief. Goddard asserts that if a belief feels unnatural to you, that you won't be able to do this magic trick with reality.
Here's what I think about this book as someone who has brought many things out of my imagination and into reality, including books, games, electronic devices, desktop software, phone apps, 2 urban wear lines, and many varied and interesting negotiated deals. What Goddard describes is real... to an extent. Despite my first sentence, I'm not claiming to be an expert here. I know that I've seen my energies and my creativity marshal around a firmly rooted belief in myself, my capabilities, and the possibility of my ideas as real. However, I've also seen myself fail in the face of absolute certainty that I would succeed in tasks as natural to me as breathing and know of many others whose lack is not in the confidence to believe that an outcome is eminent but rather in the fact that the universe does not so readily bend to the whim of any individual. Goddard, and many other authors of his time, massively discount luck, chance, serendipity, and positively impacting biases. Single cause explanations don't work when dealing with something as complex as a life. -
The Power of Awareness by – Neville Goddard #Read2lead #myread4change
Picked up another book in the new thought circle that claims every individual has higher power within and shows a way to access that power. Everything that we see and experience outside is reflection of our internal state of consciousness. The book explains how we can tap in to that power.
The power of awareness talks about the center of consciousness “I AM” and everything that follows, is created by what “I AM” goes on to create within and how we can change what we have created once we understand how do we go about it.
Couple of points that book explains so well –
•To change our circumstances, we must change our thoughts and yet we can’t change what we think unless we have new ideas. Hence, desire to transform becomes the first step in transformation.
•The Truth that sets you free is that you can experience in imagination what you desire to experience in reality, and by maintaining this experience in imagination your desire will become an actuality.
•Mental conversation - Once we set impression of some people, we start having mental conversation within, creating scenarios how anyone will treat us and how we will react, and as a result of our mental chatter, and we face that in actuality. Hence, changing our image of others and creating good mental conversation can lead to a better relationship.
Quotes from the book –
•Everything depends on your attitude towards yourself. That which you will not affirm as true of yourself can never be realized by you
•If you will not imagine yourself as other than what you are, then you remain as you are.
•The great secret of success is to focus the attention on the feeling of the wish fulfilled without permitting any distraction
•Your imagination is able to do all that you ask in proportion to the degree of your attention. -
Bag of air.

I found this book to be rather a one trick pony, albeit quite a trick. The trick is using the link between imagination and reality to imagine what you desire so thoroughly that you make it so.
I believe the basic premise that reality is an expression of consciousness, of awareness. And I love the picture he paints of each of us being a fountain for the expression of that consciousness. But I had a problem with using that fact to create what we fervently desire without regard to any larger picture, either in terms of goodness or in terms of there being many of us in the world, each with our own awareness, our own imagination. He does recommend creating a better or higher self, but it's a recommendation only. And he doesn't really address how the awareness and imagination in each of us interact. So overall I found this to be useful, but I was at the same time disappointed that it is incomplete. -
From personal experience/observation, I have always believed that brainwaves are contagious and that consciousness is far more powerful than we understand. Though my mother tried to raise me in a religious background, I held firm agnostic beliefs from a young age. Needless to say, I’ve been on a spiritual search for most of my life. Now I can honestly assert that I’ve finally found this ideology that I’ve intuitively believed in, and the respective bible for it. Now I can finally understand not only that the energy exists but how to use it. Goddard is a genius and chalking this book up to a mere “law of attraction” read, though it certainly is, undersells the tradition and power of this little book. Like fine wine, you can’t help but take it in small chunks and to ruminate/absorb its principles.

I'm intrigued by any read that teaches positive psychology, self-understanding and the art of manifestation. This one has topped my list! First published in 1952, Neville took me through his profound, yet simple teachings with the utmost ease and interest. I was particularly impressed with the "Imagination" section. I've even gifted a copy to both my young adult kids.
-
THE best book on changing your life. If you want to change you have to start on the inside. Forget all other Law of Attraction fluff, Neville is the founding father that no one except the author Twenty Twenty teaches correctly. I've read a lot of these awareness books, nothing compares to this. Read a chapter a night. And just keep re-reading.

A very good book!!!!
