Best Newspaper Writing 2001 Reviews

If you want to be a better journalist or writer of any kind, buy this book NOW.

It includes news stories of the winners and finalists of each of the following categories: non-deadline writing, commentary, team deadline news reporting, diversity writing, editorial writing, deadline news reporting and community service journalism.

As its title states, these really are the BEST articles from some of the best print journalists around the country.

After reading my 2001 version I came away particularly fond of Tom Hallman Jr's writing and particularly his "narrative story" style. He is a senior reporter (he's been there 30 years) for the Oregonian, a newspaper that seems to always be on the cutting edge of what's next in print news. Hallman's series "The boy behind the mask" was especially gripping and is included in my 2001 version. For it, Hallman spent hundreds of hours interviewing and learning of the boy Sam. Talk about dedication.

If you want to be inspired, write better, and learn about how other reporters do it, read this book. You won't be disappointed.
