Sitting Bull: The Life of a Lakota Sioux Chief (Graphic Non-fiction) Reviews

As casual reading, I guess this book would work, but as a reference it just isn't precise enough. Done in a graphic novel style, this book is meant more as a introduction to Sitting Bull rather than a book to really get to know the deep information. I didn't care for the illustrations, but some might. There are better books out there to read if you're interested in him.

Quality images accompany a no frills style of storytelling. The focus of the text is the close circle near Sitting Bull with the bulk of the text and images presenting the famous chief. There are some particularly impressive artistic rendering of the American icon. One example of this impressive art is on the bottom corner of page 28 where Sitting Bull is shown with a split face, one side normal and the other side lightning; it is a wonderful and evocative piece of art which adds quite a bit to the legendary man, Sitting Bull.

Interesting, dramatic and informative, this graphic novel depicts the life of
    Sitting Bull.

Some of the details are a bit graphic, but the man lived a life filled with conflict and at times, violent battle.

I also thought that some of the illustrations were confusing and I wasn't always sure who was being featured.

Still, it's a fast read and we all learned more about this famous man.
