I still believe that Mészöly is extremely overrated in the Hungarian literature, the master of "reduction" whatever that means, honestly I did not find appealing.
The interview in this book just reassured my feelings that he also overestimated his work.

I see this book as a lesson in contradictions. It is incredibly pretentious, but also oddly alluring. I get the feeling that I would understand so many more of his stories if I was born into a different world, but also wish I could understand more of his world born into the situation I have been.
