Well... Okay, it's taken me a long time to read this whole series. (I still have the prequel to read). I loved the first two, didn't like the the third, but I thought surely the last book would be good. It had the potitial to be the best in the series. However, it fell flat for two major reasons.
~ Following three characters can work, but it didn't in this book
~ By the half-way point, I still had no idea why Matt had never told Caroline how he felt, not really.
I wanted to see Charlott redeemed and all, but the story was dull and half-way through, I just couldn't go on.

The Winds Across the Prairie series has been one that I have enjoyed very much and Caroline’s Choice is a very good book to bring the series to a conclusion. I found all of these books, especially this one to be the perfect mix of action, romance and relaxing reading. I like to see the same characters returning throughout this series and I also like the author’s way of recapping what has happened in the previous books. So much has happened in the previous books, by the time we get to book four, there is a lot to keep track of and Martha did a very good job of reminding me without the reminders feeling out of place. They were just a natural part of the story.

I like the feeling of home that this book conveys, especially because Barton Creek has a welcoming and friendly feeling, for the most part (there have been some issues). Overall, I have really enjoyed spending time in Barton Creek and I have really enjoyed reading Matt and Caroline’s love story. I would recommend Caroline’s Choice, but I would also recommend starting this series from the beginning with Becoming Lucy and reading the series in order. It is much better that way.

    Loved it!

Our heroine Caroline is a librarian (dream job!) and the mayor's daughter while Matt is a humble rancher. Caroline comes off as very likable and realistic but I felt as if I didn't know Matt enough. I know these characters through the other books in the series but for anyone who just happened upon this book without having read the other three might not feel the connection to the hero that they should.

However as the fourth book in the Winds Across the Prairie series I'm very pleased at how this story ended and how it wrapped up nicely for all the characters we met in the previous three books. As a fan of almost all types of fiction I've come to expect great stories from today's newest faces and I'm so glad to say that Martha Rogers is a great author to add to your to read lists. While not the most action-packed or exciting books to read this series this book and the others in the series have great faith messages like forgiveness along with subtle romantic elements. I will say if you're looking for the edgy stuff that's become so popular and which I love you won't find it in this series. If you're a fan of the Janette Oke and Beverly Lewis type romances you are in for a real treat!

Caroline Frankston was always the dutiful daughter and faithful girl. The reliable one in the background. But, tired of waiting for Matt to realize how he feels, and tired of following her mothers orders, Caroline finally takes control of her own life and leaves Barton Creek. She finds a good job, shares a home with roommates and gets a taste of life on her own. But, as she finds her way and learns who she is, Caroline also begins to realize what things are truly important to her.

Back home in Barton Creek, her mother Charlotte, the proud and prickly wife of Barton Creek's mayor, also begins to discover that she doesn't like the woman she has become, but she has no idea how to change. Matt finally realizes he's a stupid fool and wonders if it's too late for him and Caroline.

This is a fantastic end to the Winds Across the Prairie series. I'm so sorry to see it end as I have so enjoyed getting to know these characters. While I didn't love the first book, Becoming Lucy, I'm so glad I gave the rest of the series a chance. It's been a delightful adventure. The series wraps up satisfyingly well and I was pleased to see Charlotte's story included here. This is a book and a series I can easily recommend. I have loaned out my copies several times over to friends.

I am really enjoying Martha Roger's series. Set in Oklahoma before it becomes a state this series is a journey watching the different lives weave together in the books (Lucy, Dove, Becky and now Caroline). Caroline has grown tired of waiting for Matt to finally propose so she wants to move off to Oklahoma City and start fresh. Starting fresh may not be all it's cracked up to be as she starts realizing. In the meantime Matt starts realizing that something is missing with Caroline gone. Will something happen to bring them together or is it time for a new start for everyone. Martha will keep you wondering and enjoying every moment along the way.
