Lethal Justice (Sisterhood #6) Reviews

This is one of the first (if not THE) first Fern Michaels books I have ever read and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it until now! It's been over 10 years since I actually read this book, so I'm fuzzy on some of the details. but I absolutely remember being underwhelmed, and rolling my eyes at some of the parts.
Which is something I would come to do with all of the few Fern Michaels books I came to read (all of which were hand-me-downs) but that's another story...
I get why Sara Whittier wanted revenge and all that, so I don't blame the poor girl as anyone would be pissed off over being sent to jail for a crime they didn't commit. However, part of her revenge included tattooing her name on the faces of the two people responsible for her being sent to jail after framing her and that just... felt really on the nose to me. (Or on the face, in that matter)
I totally dig the idea of a group of women who help to avenge crimes and all that, but this, and the other book in this series I read (Free Fall) were just so lackluster, and some of the dialogue, description and delivery just made me cringe. Perhaps it's because I've been spoiled by the fantastic research and attention to detail in books by authors such as Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, or James Clavell, but this book just felt pretty immature and trite in comparison.
Ok, so the aforementioned authors were obviously writing for a more discerning audience who demand more historical and military research and detail, but even though Fern Michael's target audience is housewives and those of that ilk, this book still felt like nothing more than silly pap.
No, I'm not badmouthing books intended for such an audience. I've enjoyed better-quality books with the same target audience (i.e. Debbie Macomber, Susan Wiggs, Nora Roberts) and compared to them, Fern Michaels sucks, and I've read several of her books - the only reason I read them in the first place is because they were hand-me-downs, and I am so glad I didn't pay a single penny for that crappy pap. -
The Sisterhood series by Fern Michaels are very entertaining, quick reads. The characters are likeable, unique women who you envision to be your neighbors. The stories move at a nice pace and although you know that justice will prevail at the end, Michaels always throws in a couple of twists and turns in to keep you engaged.
One is not left with deep philosophical ponderings after reading these books. Instead, they make you feel like you have had a nice "catch up" visit with a friend and they make you smile a "sisterhood" type of smile. -
Another entertaining read from Ms. Micheals! It was a quick read and I loved the characters. However, I didn’t find the book on par with most the other book by this author. It was good just not great.

I couldn’t put this book down! I stayed up late reading it and even missed a favorite radio show because I had to see what was happening next.

Sixth in the Sisterhood vengeance-suspense series set in Washington D.C.
The Story
It's Alexis Thorne's turn for her revenge. A few years back, her bosses, Roland Sullivan and Arden Gillespie, set Alexis up by draining her clients' accounts and making it look as though she had embezzled it. That she embezzled with glee from retirees. Alexis spent a year in jail, lost her license, and, worse, her reputation.
Now, it's her turn to destroy Rolly and Arden's reputation and destroy their lives. Myra's old friend, Anna de Silva, steps up to help out using her money and reputation to sucker the two brokers in.
The Characters
In the meantime, Yoko meets Harry Wong, Jack's friend, at the Asian grocery store and plays him for days and days before finally granting him a date. Ted Robinson and Maggie Spritzer are off again, on again as they try to get the goods on the Pinewood girls until finally they take it too far and pay for it in unexpected ways.
Anna Ryland de Silva, Countess de Silva, is one of Myra and Cornelia Easter's oldest friends. After the death of her family in a boating accident some 15 years ago, Anna holed up in her mountaintop monastery estate in Spain and retreated from the world.
My Take
This is one of my least favorite installments. Yes, I loved that those two got paid back for what they did to Alexis. I feel a little bad for Roland as he still loved his wife and wanted his family but he made the choices...and continued to make the choices to leave them by the wayside. The part I disliked was that the whole scam was just too simplistic and the punishment just wasn't enough---I know, contradictory!
Why is it that Yoko and the girls all think it's so funny that Harry is so in love that he calls her 37 times in a few days? That she completely ignores him and laughs about it. That she thinks it's mysterious? Just seems mean to me.
I'm hoping I can just get through this series. I love the concept of justice, true justice. It's just so hard to read through such simplistic writing. I'm not going to go off on it...I feel like I've been a bit obsessive… I'm giving it a 3...hmmm...why that much??? I guess I'm trying to compensate for my pissiness...
The Cover
Another garden-worn hand with a great manicure holding a spray of lovely purple orchids against a green to black radial gradation. The title, Lethal Justice, seems appropriate. The girls were certainly lethally cruel….snicker… even if a bit juvenile in the punishment. I do love how they use the money they "acquire" at the end of each mission. It's such a lovely thing to do! -
I had never read any of this author's books but grabbed the CD version off the shelf to get a sense of what she is like.
I may have to go back to the beginning to read the entire series. I liked the book, and the characters. I am not sure how I feel about the vigilantism protrayed in the book but it's fun to imagine we could do things like this to get back at the bad guys who get away. Maybe she will write something about all of the people in the Bush Administration who have skated out with a scratch. -
The Sisterhood is back and this time to even up the score with a pair of greedy investment brokers. Myra enlists the help of her dear friend Anna, who also happens to be very wealthy. Two annoying reporters are getting too close for comfort in figuring out what goes on behind the doors at Pinewood and the Sisterhood has to decide how they will deal with them. What lengths are the Sisters willing to go to in order to protect themselves and each other?
Another delightful read in this series! -
Liked that this tale of the sisterhood involves whether the whole thing is going to blow up in their faces or continue to just get better. Once again the punishment for the crime was interesting and undertaking it is up to par. There's a little romantic interlude going on with one of the characters which is cutely amusing. Will just have to see where it goes in the continuing saga.

After reading this book, I want to go and find all the books in this series!. It is a really great revenge story. The author has described each character so uniquely, with so much depth, it's amazing.
-
I loved books 1 - 7 of this series. I wouldn't read beyond that.
-
I think this is my favorite of this series so far. This was just great. The Sisterhood to the rescue!
-
I haven’t read many of the author’s books, but this although labeled romance, was not. It was well written and entertaining, although I didn’t condone the group of women called the sisterhood who were concocting slightly illegal scenarios to exact vengeance on enemies. I would probably read more of Fern Michaels soon.

Reads the official summary. I got cheated by this description.
Thought the story line and plot were good. It lacked the depth. The book failed to put me in the edge as promised. Or may be my expectations were too high. -
Alexis Thorn, once a well-liked and successful securities broker, now has nothing after spending a year in jail for a crime she did not commit. It is now her turn with the Sisterhood to get revenge on her former employers.
This was definitely the mildest revenge so far. Other than Alexis’ added surprise at the end, no real physical harm came to the two thieves. Roland Sullivan and Arden Gillespie are truly despicable people. Roland probably would not have ever done any of this if Arden wasn’t in the picture. Roland was so taken in by her that he was unable to see anything else going on around him. He did feel bad for what they did to Alexis, but he never put his foot down with Arden. I really felt bad for his wife.
The reader gets to meet another lifelong friend of Myra’s and she is a delight. Once she makes it past her grief, she really comes out of her shell. She becomes a huge asset to the Sisterhood throughout the 2nd half of the book and the ending made me happy.
Even though I know how many books are in the series, this book had me nervous. Those 2 darn reporters really had me worried that the Sisterhood would be exposed. I love how Nikki and Charles handled it. -
**This review is for the audiobook on Audible.**
Lethal Justice by Fern Michaels, narrated by Laural Merlington is Book 6 in the Revenge of the Sisterhood series. Like the others, this one was engaging... I listened to it in one day, and it flew by!! The book is masterfully planned and written, and the performance is outstanding. I gave it a 4/5 because I like others in the series better than this one, but it is still a must-listen! If you are thinking about starting a series, this is the one!! However, make sure to start at the beginning, so you understand why these women have formed a sisterhood "revenge club," how they are able to pull off each act of revenge, and who/what brought them together in the first place. This series is one of three of my favorites, but it is definitely my #1 favorite of the genre. Highly recommended!
Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. Happy listening! :-) -
Synopsis: Alexis Thorn was a successful broker whose career was on the rise. But that was before she was wrongly imprisoned for fraud. Suddenly her life was destroyed: thrown into prison for a year while the true criminals, Arden Gillespie and Roland Sullivan, spent the profits from the scam on themselves. It is time for the next revenge mission of the Sisterhood a vigilante organization whose aim is to avenge crimes not punished by the legal system.
Newest Characters added to the mix: Heiress Anna Ryland de Silva (another person who's got more money than she knows what to do with.) Reporters Maggie Spritzer and Ted Robinson don't make their job any easier after the pair break into Nikki's office and uncover evidence that could embarrass the Sisterhood. Ted is supposed to be a friend of Jack's. -
Lethal Justice by Fern Michaels (copyright 2006) is a work of fiction entailing several women that put their heads together to form a special group called "The Sisterhood." These women are quite serious about taking matters into their own hands and delving out justice. This book has such entertainment value! Not only do these women plot an elaborate scheme to dish out vigilante justice but they have the available means to actually carry it out. Despite the outlandish ideas, plans, and antics of the characters this book has the propensity to perhaps create a diversion for the reader and play upon one's tendency for wishful thinking.Anna Todd

Another of the "Sisterhood" has completed her revenge mission. Alexis, f/n/a Sara Whittier, should be able to sleep better at night knowing her name is going to be cleared as her case is to be reopened, funds given back to the families of the victims, and Arden Gillespie and Roland Sullivan will go to prison for their part in the scheme against her. With a little help, Maggie Spritzer and Ted Robinson have moved to NYC and have new careers there, hopefully never to be a bother to the girls again. Yoko has become involved with Jack's friend Harry, only time will tell what will become of that relationship.

Alexis Thorn, one of the chicks in the Sisterhood was in prison for a crime she did not commit. Although she now has her freedom, she is continually haunted with the past where she is taken from her office in handcuffs and thrown in prison where her cries are fallen on deaf ears. No one to help her. No one to listen to her. Except now! The Sisterhood is hot on the heels of Roland Sullivan and Arden Gillespie who were the ones to have Alexis wrongfully convicted and take over from her and is now making millions from Alexis' sweat and tears. Revenge has never tasted sweeter!!!

I'm not sure what possessed me to finish this book. I picked it up because I was in the mood for a light, easy read, but it was just completely ridiculous. Eighty percent filler of hemming and hawing before anything happened, horrible dialogue, uninteresting characters and juvenile writing. When the "revenge" was finally accomplished, it came off as way too easy and half-baked. Honestly, these women just seemed like a bunch of idiots to me. It felt as though the whole thing was written in about two days to meet some sort of quota.
-
A wonderful addition to the sisterhood series where a group of women who have been victims of crime have formed a vigilante group to obtain justice when the law has failed. In this episode the ladies are out to avenge the wrongful conviction of one of their members for embezzlement. Framed by her former business partners, the group uses the perpetrators greed to catch them. Especially delicious is one component of the retribution.
-
Much better than the last two!! This mission was about Alexis Thorn, who was once a successful securities broker. She was framed for securities fraud/theft by her boss and his mistress (a fellow employee/partner of the firm), spent a year in jail and lost everything she held dear including her beloved dog, Grady. The legal system failed her but the Sisterhood didn't; I love the way this one was handled!!
-
Well as always these books are easy light reads, but this one just fell short. I just feel like the antagonist were just about exactly the same as the others in the previous book. A women who is extremely beautiful, has expense taste, and is a total b****. A man who is guilty about what he is doing but going along with it. They both work and sleep together. The ending did turn out to be slightly different. Anyways i still plan on reading #7 in the series in the future!

This is the best revenge I've read so far. It's filled with a suspense that something could go wrong at anytime and it's not just the sisterhood seeking justice. There are two reporter's, Ted & Maggie, hot on their heels to see these women brought to justice. It's a lightweight suspense book that gives the heroine of the story her victory. Easy read, believable outcome in most of the situations, & a funny ending.

The Sisterhood is at it again. They are on the trail of Justice for those women who have been ignored by Justice and Fair Play. This time, Sara is on track to get her revenge on former business partners. They embezzled funds and clients. Sara was framed convicted and went to prison. Now she is out, with a new name and hopes to expose her frame-up which resulted in jail time. Can she exact her revenge with The Sisterhood help?
-
Alexis is finally getting her revenge on the ones that sent her to prison. It seems that the reporters that have been after a story on the sisterhood have finally crossed the line. Nikki and Charles have to make sure they will not be after a story from them again. I have been working my way thru this series and have really enjoyed the books.
