Great book

Amazing book and really shows the foundational thinking of Collins future work. I liked this right up there with Andy Groves book
High Output Management and
First, Break All the Rules: What the World's Greatest Managers Do Differently.
This books focuses on companies that are past seed stage, but not quite past 5 years. It is also a fantastic blueprint for brining innovation sectors back into established companies. -
Though Jim Collins went on to write "Good to Great" for a much bigger audience, this book, a precursor, was written specifically for entrepreneurs scaling from a handful of employees to tens, or hundreds. The title of the book thus makes more sense as you complete it: "entrepreneurship" is about discovering a business model that survives harsh market realities, whereas "beyond entrepreneurship" is the creation of a lasting, sustainable company. This is the focus of the book: how to get beyond survival and toward sustainable growth. I read this book because Reed Hastings said it was one of his favorite business books, and when I completed the book, I felt the same way.

Another Jim Collins classic. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it to any entrepreneur that’s looking to take their business to greater heights of excellence. I particularly like the assertion that leaders don’t fit any specific personality profile - some are quiet, some are charismatic, others are shy and so on.

Jim is family, of course he gets 5 stars from me!!
