Cameron Mackenzie is a man who loves only horses and women—in that order—or so his mistresses say.
Ainsley Douglas is a woman with a strong sense of justice and the desire to help others—even if that means sneaking around a rakish man's bedchamber.
Which is exactly where Cam finds her—six years after he caught her the first time. Only then, she convinced Cam she was seeking a liaison, but couldn't go through with it because of her husband. Now a widow, she's on a mission to retrieve letters that could prove embarrassing to the queen. Cam has no interest in Ainsley's subterfuge, but he vows to finish what they started those many years ago. One game, one kiss at a time, he plans to seduce her. And what starts out as a lusty diversion may break Cam's own rules—and heal the scars of a dark and damaging past...

“I am a bad man, very bad, but in a different way. I want to ravish you until we’re both senseless with it, and then I want to do it all over again.”
These Mackenzie men have me swooning! The Many Sins Of Lord Cameron is another damn good book in a series full of sexy Scots written by the awesome Jennifer Ashley! I love this series. I am 3 books into this series and all 3 are beautiful, touching love stories. There is no pattern or repeat themes to these books, each one is unique and special just like the Mackenzie men are.
“Exactly like that. Don’t stay here for me, Cam. Go where your heart is, and I’ll follow.”
What this book is about
Cameron Mackenzie tried marriage once, and he paid dearly for it! His wife was crazy, she beat him, cheated on him, tried to hurt their newborn son Danny, and then she killed herself. Cam hates marriage, and doesn't trust women at all. He will never get married again, because he will never be stupid enough to let a woman close to him again. Instead his life is filled with his son Danny, horses, drinking, and tons of mistresses (most are married). Then Ainsley comes and turns his life inside out, making him want things he swore he would never want again. Will Lord Cameron let another woman into his heart?
"Let me be, Ainsley. Don't try to remake me in one night. I told you, I'm a wreck of a man."
Cam:
“It hurts, Ainsley. I loathed her, and still it hurts.” He dragged his sleeve back down and flipped the ruined cuff closed. “That’s why I don’t want to talk about it.”
Cam was darker than the other Mackenzie brothers. He has been hurt bad, and is your typical broody, damaged bad boy! Rough around the edges, crude, but he is a good guy. Ainsley does soften him a little, but he is still Cam. He was more of a dirty talker then the other brothers and I liked that! I love that even though Cam is fearful of marriage he doesn't act like a coward. He wants Ainsley, and he marries her. Then he tries really hard to make her happy which was so damn sweet.
“I don’t want to be friends with you, Ainsley Douglas. I want to be your lover. I want to bury myself inside you, I want to find out whether you taste as good all the way down, I want to feel you squeezing me, and I want to hear your cries as you take me inside you.”
“I won’t promise to be a model husband,” Cameron said. “Home at six for tea and the like. I work the horses all day during racing season and stay out all night in the off season. I drink, I play cards, and my friends are not respectable. I’d treat you like a mistress, a lover, because I sure as hell don’t know how to treat a woman like a wife. If that’s not what you want, tell me now and go back to your queen.”
“My Ainsley,” Cameron whispered brokenly. “I can’t lose you. Never. Never, never. . .” His words moved with his body, Cameron losing control. “My sweet, tight, beautiful wife.”
Ainsley:
“I think we should talk about it. It’s our marriage, Cam. It’s our life.”
Ainsley is supportive, sweet, loyal, and very loving. She is very understanding. Slowing healing Cam and showing him that he can trust his heart with her. She is sassy and outspoken, but in a softer way. She is a helper ,and tends to put others needs before her own needs, or happiness. She also has a bit of a playful side. I love the way she brings Cam and his son Danny closer together.
“And I want to see what you wear under your kilt.” Ainsley wriggled her hips, which stroked his cock. “Little devil.” “I’m not an innocent debutante. I’ve heard much about Mackenzies and their kilts.” “I like you not being an innocent debutante.” He kissed her lips again. “I’m going to thoroughly debauch you.” “Oh, heavens.” She smiled and tapped her fist to his chest. “Oh no, you wicked thing, you mustn’t.”
“It means it’s my opinion, whether you like it or not. So cease trying to insult me, or bully me, or whatever it is you’re doing.”
“I know you don’t wish me to say this, but I’m sorry,” Ainsley said. “I’m sorry about all that’s happened to you. It shouldn’t have.” Cameron rested his big hand over hers. “But it did. And I live with the ghosts.” He looked down at her, his eyes holding more warmth. “The ghosts haven’t plagued me as much lately.”
“I’m not angry with you, devil woman. I’m madly in love with you.” Ainsley looked startled, then her smile blossomed. “Are you? That’s splendid, because I love you too, Cameron Mackenzie.”
Cam and Ainsley have a hot burning passion, and a slow building love. Their relationship was sweet and touching. I enjoyed the way Cam slowly opens up and not only lets Ainsley in , but lets his son in. They heal as a family. Mac, Isabella, Beth, and Ian are in this book a little so you get updates on them. I love any time Ian is in a book , because he is the star of the series!!!! This was a great read. Now I am on to the next book. Below I leave my favorite moment from this book:
“Damn you, Ainsley, I love you so much I hurt with it. I fell in love with you the night I first caught you in my bedchamber, my little thief. I was so drunk, and you were so lovely, and I wanted you like I’d never wanted a woman before in my life. How the hell did I live so long without you?” “About as well as I lived without you.” Ainsley touched his face. “Let’s never live without each other again, all right?” “That’s what I’ve been trying to say.” Cameron straightened from her. “Bed. Now.” Her brows rose. “My, aren’t you commanding?” “I am about this. March.” He slapped his hand to her backside and half shoved, half walked her to the bed, Ainsley laughing all the way.

“I am a bad man, very bad, but in a different way. I want to ravish you until we’re both senseless with it, and then I want to do it all over again.”
This series is just getting better and better! I don't think anything can top Ian's book, but this one came really close! Wow, what an amazing read"I don't want to be friends with you, Ainsley Douglas. I want to be your lover. I want to bury myself inside you, I want to find out whether you taste as good all the way down, I want to feel you squeezing me, and I want to hear your cries as you take me inside you."
The story
Six years ago, Cameron caught Mrs. Ainsley Douglas in his bedroom, going through his desk. His most logical conclusion was that she was there for a liaison, as all women were
Ainsley was looking for a piece of jewlery when she was caught by Lord Cameron, and trying to hide that fact, she let herself be seduced by him.
Cam was intrigued by Ainsley, and had realised he simply must have her, only for her to reject him.“I am truly sorry, my lord.”
Good lord, Cameron had tried to seduce her, and she was apologizing to him.
Six years later, Cameron sees Ainsley, in his bedroom, looking for something, again. He still can't get her out of his mind, and this time, he decides to have her.
Ainsley is now a widow, and being a close friend to Isabella means spending a lot of time near the Mackenzies. Her most important goal is to retrieve the letter she'd been searching for in Cameron's bedroom. He, of course, now has it, and refuses to give it to her :D
The blackmailer is persistent, though, and so Cam decides to help Ainsley in getting back all the letters, and meanwhile trying to convince her to be his mistress
"Unbutton your damned frock."
She nearly choked. "Why?"
"Because I want you to." Cameron's smile spread across his face, slow and sinful, and his voice went low. Dangerous. "Tell me, Mrs. Douglas. How many buttons will you undo for me?"
I liked the story in this one, with the letters and the court intrigue, and with Cam loving horses and dealing with them, it was an excellent read! The characters were great, both of them, but I'll talk about that later :)
Seeing the family again is always fantastic, and this one didn't disappoint, we get to see all the Mackenzies, and get a teaser for Hart's book <3
The chemistry in this one is off the charts! So amazing, I loved everything that happened between them, the talking, the sex scenes were oh so hot!
I just have the feeling the author is getting better and better with each book! Just fantastic :)On the train, after the St. Leger. I will give you my answer.
Cameron could barely breathe.
He wouldn’t let her go. Mackenzie men were good at getting exactly what they wanted, and Cameron would have Ainsley. He’d not let her go again, not for the Queen of England or any other reason on God’s earth.
Cameron
He vowed he would never marry again.
Cameron has had a disastrous marriage, his wife crazy and having affairs, trying to hurt their son and succeding at hurting Cam.
Just terrible.
Those flashbacks to his past were so difficult to read, and I just feel so sorry for him.
Ever since his wife killed herself, Cam hasn't let anyone close. The only things that filled the emptiness were Daniel (his son), his love for horses (he has a talent for it), and keeping various mistresses over the years. Still, it hasn't been enough to make him feel alive again, until he saw Ainsley again. She's the only one that makes him feel something, and he doesn't want to let her go.
And so he helps her with the blackmailer and the letters, seducing her at the same time
, and getting her out of trouble most of the time :D
The train scene
I loved Cam before it, but when I read that, I just ADORED him
And the scene with the two horses and Ainsley
one of my favorites, the way he finally let go of his fears, just... OMG absolutely loved it!...why, when she looked at him, did she see longing, an emptiness unfulfilled?
Cameron’s eyes darkened as he cupped her face. “I want you,” he whispered. “Ainsley, damn you, I want you so much.”
Ainsley
I apologize in advance to any Ainslies out there, but I have to say that I had real trouble getting used to her name :D The first time I saw it, it sounded like a man's name. Don't know why, but Ainsley just doesn't go with a woman. On the other hand, I'm not very familliar with Scottish names, so what sounds weird to me is perfectly normal, just like some of the names from Croatia would sound weird to you too hahah
Anyway, back to her...
Ainsley's marriage wasn't an idyllic one, though her husband was good to her, they were married to prevent a scandal. That is the main reason she now refuses Cam and the possibility of being his mistress.
She is the Queen's companion, and is tasked with retreiving some very incriminating letters. That leads her to Cam, and so they work together to get rid of the blackmailer.
Ainsley was pretty awesome, and I can't help but LOVE the author for writing such great female leads.
She's very funny, and brave, but sympathetic to Cam as well. She wants him to be rid of his past and his demons, and the way she tried to do that XDXD Picking locks and breaking into his room at night
she is just awesome :)))
And at the end when she talked back to the Queen
"All the things I took for granted for years suddenly had color and substance. Why? Because I saw them anew, through your eyes."
And for the millionth time :D I loved this book. One of the best historicals I've read. Wouldn't be the same if it wasn't part of this series, without Ian, Mac, Hart and their ladies who made the whole thing even better :)

The Many Sins of Lord Cameron is the third book in the Highland Pleasures series and wow… what an amazing story!
Many people have asked me whose story I liked better; Cam’s or Ian’s? The thing about answering a question like this is that it’s like comparing apples and oranges, or in this case, the finest Kentucky Bourbon and hundred year old Scotch! Both are amazing in their own ways and depending on your mood, you’d choose one over the other. But when it’s all said and done, both warm you up, make you feel all tingly inside, and one finger just isn't enough ;)
Another way to describe the differences would be to say that when I need to hold someone, to soothe them, bring them peace, I’d choose Ian. If I’m in the mood to tame someone, to ease their burdens and bring comfort to their soul, I’d choose Cameron. And make no mistake about it, Cam is a man in desperate need of taming and comfort.
So let’s talk about Lord Cameron and his many sins. To say I adore this story is to say the least. From the first page to the last, I couldn’t get enough of Cameron and Ainsley. Where one is weak, the other is strong, where one is restlessness, the other is tranquility and because of this, together they are invincible…the perfect match… which they prove time and time again. Cameron’s wicked ways have us believing that he’s nothing but an insensitive rake, but we soon learn that there’s much more to Cam than meets the eye. His tortured soul, his vulnerability… but for a man with his reputation, his sins are not so many. That’s not to say he isn’t wicked, because he most assuredly is, and in the most delightfully scrumptious ways. And like all the Mackenzie brothers, he’s honorable, stubborn, demanding andgoes commando under hiswears a kilt.
I suppose, to be fair, I should mention Ainsley a bit more, too, but I won’t. Why? Because while I thought they were perfect together, it was Cameron Mackenzie who made this an amazing story.
So there you have it, my totally random ramblings about The Many Sins of Lord Cameron and it should go without saying that I’m dying to read Hart’s book next! -
These MacKenzie Men are Devilish!!
“I am a bad man, very bad, but in a different way. I want to ravish you until we’re both senseless with it, and then I want to do it all over again.”
Lord Cameron loves to race horses and bed women. Well, actually, he never takes women to bed. That would be too intimate. A wall or a table works just fine. His life was scandalized after the suspisious death of his wife. He now lives the life of a rich widower and horse trainer.
"I don't want to be friends with you, Ainsley Douglas. I want to be your lover. I want to bury myself inside you, I want to find out whether you taste as good all the way down, I want to feel you squeezing me, and I want to hear your cries as you take me inside you.”
Ainsley is the queen's spymaster, tasked with delicate matters. Her latest mission has her hiding behind a curtain as Lord Cameron seduces a married woman. But instead of being disgusted, Ainsley wishes she were the one receiving his desires.
This book was Wonderful!!! The background story of Cameron's life was beyond tragic and sad. He stole my heart and I loved all that he did to be a good father to his son. Ainsley was the perfect heroine for Cam. She was witty, smart, and sassy. This was my second favorite of the series so far, second to Ian's book. These MacKenzie men have all stolen my heart and I can't wait to read Hart's book!!
I can't recommend this series enough!!! It is wonderful, with characters that will stay with you. I can't get enough of this family!! If you like historical romances, then READ this Series!!!

"Cam," she said softly. A tear fell to his wrist.
Cameron's broad fingers tilted her face up. There was fire in his eyes, and anger, and pain. "Let me be, Ainsley. Don't try to remake me in one night. I told you, I'm a wreck of a man."
A man I'm in love with. Ainsley kissed his palm.
4.5 stars.
Lord Cameron Mackenzie and Ainsley Douglas met six years ago for the first time when she was still married. Cam tried to seduce her but she resisted since she didn't want to betray her elderly, yet kind husband. In present day, Ainsley's husband has died. She is assisting the Queen because her husband didn't leave her much money. The Queen has written a few letters to an admirer that could cause her a lot of trouble if they became public. Unfortunately the letters fell into wrong hands. To avoid any scandal, Ainsley tries to retrieve them and "meets" Cam again when she's rummaging around in his bedroom.
Cameron is rather rude, hard, unpredictable, ungentlemanly, brutish, and dangerous. Lord Cameron likes to collect erotica, books, and art. And he has a new mistress every few months. Cam is ruthless when it comes to winning races and he seems to love his horses more than any woman. On top of that, he is very protective of his son, Daniel.
At a certain moment Ainsley saw something naked in Cam's eyes, not anger or frustration or old pain, but a longing so intense it touched her very core. Eventually, Ainsley is seduced by the womanizing, erotica-reading- whiskey-drinking, horse-mad Lord Cameron Mackenzie. YOWZA!!
Again, I love it when an author is able to make me smile. I truly enjoyed their interaction. It was fun and playful.
"Not fair," she said. "These buttons are more widely spaced than the last set."
"I'm not interested in what your dressmaker designed. I'm interested in how many I can open."
"Very well, twelve. My final offer."
"Not final at all."
<…>
"I will concede fourteen," she said.
"Twenty."
"Lord Cameron, if someone bursts in here, I will never have time to do up twenty buttons."
"Then we'll lock the door."
Oh, mind you, this goes the other way around as well…mmmmm…I hope you know what I mean!?!
Ainsley is rather inexperienced but I truly enjoyed to see how open-minded this woman was when it came to carnal pleasures. She certainly is not a prude! When she's leafing through page after page of Cam's erotic pictures, she said:
"I know I'm unworldly, Lord Cameron, but I'm not certain that what they're doing is quite possible."
"I buy it for the beauty of it, not for instruction."
"Well, that's a mercy, or you'd never have had a son."
Cam wants to tempt her:
"Please, don't tempt me like this," she said.
"I want to tempt you. I want you with every ounce of strength I have, and damn the scandal. Isabella is right - it's past time you threw off your widow's weeds and enjoyed your life."
Oh, yes! Cam certainly awakened the woman in her and he thoroughly debauched Ainsley. She did enjoy her life and some serious lovin'! Yum!
Well, well, well…let's get started. I adored Ainsley! She saw right through Cam's armor. Even though he tried to shut her off, she wouldn't give up. She could be quite persistent! Thank you, Ainsley! Cam's wife did everything to hurt him very badly. She made him hard and incredibly unhappy (I'd call this woman a sex-addicted psycho). Good riddance, Cam! What can I say about Cameron? The brooding and rough man was a sight for sore eyes! Such a smokin' hot hero! The physically and mentally scarred Cameron turned out to be a wonderful, caring, and protective man. Actually, the perfect man for Ainsley. In fact, they were perfect for one another! Cameron definitely left me drooling in his wake.
Their chemistry and passion was very palpable! I absolutely enjoyed their love scenes. They were super sexy, erotic, and very sensual! With that said, they were tastefully written. I truly hope that Ms. Ashley will consider to branch out into erotic realms. I'd be so there to read her first attempt.
If you have read and liked/loved book 1 and 2, I can guarantee you that you will love Cam and Ainsley's story, too. It is not a surprise that I am looking forward to reading Hart's story. The Many Sins of Lord Cameron is an enticing and well written historical romance novel and I highly recommend it. Enjoy! -
Έχεις τον παθιασμένο και τραγανό Ιαν,τον μεταξένιο και απαλό Μακ και τη μαύρη σοκολάτα τον Κάμερον που είναι η αγαπημένη μου γεύση και λέω μαύρη γιατί ο χαρακτήρας του είναι σκοτεινός και πικρός,αλλά ποιος μπορεί να το κατηγορήσει;
Έχει πάρει όρκο να μην παντρευτεί ποτέ ξανά,γιατί θεωρεί ότι είναι ανόητο να αφήσει μια γυναίκα να τον πλησιάσει ξανά.Αντ 'αυτού,γεμίζει το χρόνο του με τον γιο του Ντάνι, τα άλογα(τη μεγάλη του αγάπη),κάμποσες ερωμένες (οι περισσότερες είναι παντρεμένες).Μια μέρα η Έινζλι έρχεται στη ζωή του και φέρνει τα πάνω κάτω,κάνοντάς τον να θέλει πράγματα που ορκίστηκε ότι δεν θα ήθελε ξανά. Θα αφήσει ο Λόρδος Κάμερον μια θέση στη καρδιά του για μια γυναίκα;

4.5
This is the third installment in Jennifer Ashley’s Highland Pleasures series, and it is most definitely a fabulous read.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Mackenzie brothers, they are 4 brothers who have rank, wealth and political clout, but they don’t care. Can you imagine? They are peers in Victorian England, and they don’t care. Amazing. Added to that, they are Scottish, and they do as they please. This makes for a wild series.
In this book, we enter to see Cameron getting lucky with a woman, and the heroine is hiding in the curtains! And what do you suppose happens? She gets caught of course. Ainsley is searching for a love letter that she knows Cam has. No, it wasn’t written by her, it was written by the Queen. Her Majesty is being blackmailed by the very woman seducing Cameron, and Ainsley was given the task to retrieve the letter.
Cam doesn't believe she is what she seems for a second, he made that mistake once several years ago, and got burnt. But Cam isn't what he seems either. He has many scars, both inside and out, and when you find out how he got them, and what happened, you will cry. It's absolutely heartbreaking to hear about his past, but it's even worse to see what society thought.
Men bring their horses to him to train, and one in particular hates Cam. He only lets him train his horse because no one else will take her. Cam wants the horse so badly, but the arrogant jackass won't give her up. That side-story was fantastic, and Ainsley's little role in helping out was sweet.
Watching Cam try to be a good father by not making his own father’s mistakes is so heartbreaking to watch-and Daniel is growing up so fast. But Daniel's been raised by Mackenzie bachelors. Is that really the best thing for an impressionable young man? All Cam wants is to be with his horses and raise his son. He never expected to be blown away by a tiny little widow names Ainsley Douglas. And Ainsley is so much more than she lets on.
Their romance was passionate, and surprisingly sweet. I guess I expected more of a lust first affection later, but the combination of both lust and love, and of Cam's protective streak, meshed so well.
Daniel will surprise you. Maybe being raised with 4 Mackenzies isn't all that bad---he has a good head on his shoulders, respects women, and only made me hope he has a book coming. (and according to her website, HE DOES!!!)
The only thing I missed was we never saw their half-brother, Inspector Fellows. I thought he’d become more of a key player in this series, but he wasn’t even mentioned.
The set-up for Hart’s book (next year-boo! I don’t wanna wait!) is getting good, and I tortured myself by reading the teaser for his book. I’m warning you now, reading the excerpt will only make you want his book more. Jennifer Ashley is an auto-buy for me, and once you've read this, she will be for you too. Her writing blends humor, love, passion and storytelling into a beautiful story you won't want to miss.
**Thank you to Jennifer Ashley for the advanced copy and the
guest post as well

This is the third installment in Jennifer Ashley's Highland Pleasures series and I Loved It! Wow, these notorious Mackenzie brothers sure know how to wear a kilt:-)
Jennifer Ashley's writing appeals to me and one of the things I love most is her heroines. I like that they are strong, intelligent young women who are not afraid to take chances and live life with gusto. They each have a unique personality along with a sense of humor. Ainsley Douglas is one of my favorites and I liked that she was no shy, whiny virgin whose every thought is filled with conforming to society and living within their dictates!
Cameron Mackenzie is another swoon worthy Scotsman, tall, breathtakingly masculine with his strong, muscular body walking around in his kilt. A notorious rake, this brother makes no secret of the life he leads and the many liaisons know beforehand that it is pleasure he seeks, not romance or marriage.
The name of this book is apropos…..well deserved for our Lord Cameron! He has been labeled ungentlemanly, brutish and rude...Dangerous. And I loved him! I loved everything about this womanizing, erotica-reading, whiskey drinking horse-mad gentleman!
There are reasons for his lifestyle. He has suffered much and finds himself "half dead and walking through life barely feeling it." I enjoyed watching as our heroine, Ainsley Douglas changes all that. One of the things I loved most about Cam is the intensity of his emotions toward her. And how talented the author to make “buttons” so enticing.
Ainsley also has suffered pain in her past and these two are just perfect for each other. I like that their story was uncomplicated with no major barriers standing in their way and enjoyed watching each of their lives change by loving the other. I was pleased again that I didn't have to wade through chapters before becoming lost in the story. I liked how the author included Cameron's brothers and family, keeping them involved without taking anything away from this romantic tale.
Many have a favorite in this series; I’ve loved them all and can hardly wait for Hart Mackenzie’s book!
---A few of my favorite quotes - and other things:-) --- -
An enjoyable read with likeable lead characters. Ms Ashley has an easy and enjoyable writing style. Both MCs were people of integrity, although they each had challenges from their pasts to face. The book showed development and growth in both of them by the end. Cam had a lovely relationship with his son Daniel, too.
I liked the storyline. Cam and Ainsley admitted their attraction and feelings for each other, and although they had some issues to deal with, they got together anyway. I liked that the plot line mostly avoided the sometimes tedious miscommunications trope. Ainsley being a lady-in-waiting for Queen Victoria added an interesting and different slant to the story. The story did sorta start to drag a little for me around the 75-80% mark, but I pushed through and the ending was satisfying.
The men-in-kilts/highlanders aspect worked well. It did feel as if they were Scots, with pride and love of their home. But it wasn't overdone to the point of annoyance, as has happened with a couple of highlanders books I've read, that tried too hard to be Scottish and made it feel a bit corny or unrealistic instead.
I read this book for the November 2020 BOTM with HRBC, 'large families' trope. -

This is why I keep reading Jennifer Ashley, despite not enjoying each book I try. I keep hoping to stumble upon a book that'll knock my socks off, like the first one I read by her. I found that with this book and couldn't be happier. I may not like every Ashley book out there, but when I do find one I like, it's not a tame like--I completely fall in love.
I am completely satisfied with this book. I can't think of a single thing I'd like to change--which is pretty surprising and thrilling. I wasn't sure what to expect from Cameron after seeing him in the previous books. I didn't dislike him, per se, but he came off as a bit of an ass. I didn't have any hard and fast expectations of this book, but I certainly didn't conceive of Cam being like this. He was so utterly sweet and romantic--although I doubt he'd agree. He had some serious baggage from his first marriage--serious baggage--and, oh, my heart broke for him. It made me smile to watch him slowly fall for someone so perfect for him.
There is a brief blackmail subplot in the beginning of the book, but it's clear that it will resolve pretty quickly and that it really only exists to provide an excuse to get Ainsley away from the queen and in Cam's path again. I was glad that it was resolved quickly, because that left us the whole book to focus exclusively on the relationship developing between Ainsley and Cam. It was oh so wonderful to watch Cam fall in love despite himself. He has had so much pain in his life that I don't begrudge him having a hard time getting past his issues. Frankly, I wouldn't have believed it if it had been sooner. But Ashley develops the gradual shift from pure lust to love to trust so naturally that you can't help but believe.
In addition to loving Cam, I absolutely adored Ainsley. She was such a good person. It's no wonder that Cam fixated on her whenever she came within his vicinity. She was such a change from the women he was used to. The ones that he by turns despised and desired. She stood completely opposite of everything that he had came to believe in women. It was to her credit that she had patience and was willing to disregard his distrust and disdain of most women. He never felt that way about her, but he fumbled a few times as he tried to figure out how to approach and entice someone so different from what he was used to.
One of my favorite things about Ainsley is how well she treated Cam's issues. She wasn't willing to let him completely ignore them, but she never got angry and irrational at him when he was unable to get past them. She just let him go and resolved to try again later. That right there made me completely respect her. She never twisted his issues and made them about her. She knew full well what caused them and didn't try to misread the situation and take offense. How can I not love such a rational creature? They're so damn rare in Romance.
As with the other books in the series, Ashley features the full cast of characters without making them seem superfluous or letting them take over the story. She shows just enough to interest the new readers and to please the old readers with an update on how the couples are doing. We are teased a bit with a short scene with Hart and Eleanor together. I am very, very excited to finally get their book. Hart may be cold and harsh at times in the series, but he is a fascinating man, and I can't wait to get into his head. We also get quite a bit of Daniel here. It makes sense, of course, since he's Cam's son. I was just surprised by how completely likable I found him. He didn't make much of an impression on me before, but his determination to manipulate his father into doing what he thought best, and his matter of fact (but sad) acceptance of his mother's flaws has me quite intrigued with him.
This book has me firmly back on the Ashley bandwagon. I can't wait for Hart's book. -

3 1/2 - A sweet story and yet another larger-than-life Mackenzie brother got his Lady
Book #3
I started reading my nice paperback already in May but had a break (...quite long) so I started it all over with the audiobook edition a couple of days ago. ~ It was once again time for an historical with these amazing Scottish Mackenzie brothers. This was my first as an audio.
A good HR with a less good narrator
I have to admit that my impulse to download the audio book and abandon my paperback was a huge mistake. A dumb decision that partially destroyed a good romance (3.8) to be a mediocre audio book (2.5).
Don't mind my raiting here...
I liked this story, i felt for these character, loved to meet the family again and liked the writing. ~ I don't want my laziness (listening instead of read by myself) to mislead anyone to not pick up and read these lovely HR books. So don't mind my raiting, please.

Stories set in England / Scotland in the 1880:s.
It was more than a year since I read the first two so it's not a day too late to continue with the third book in this
MacKenzies & McBrides series. Written by an favorite author of mine,
Jennifer Ashley (she writes a great contemporary paranormal shifter series I'm reading as well).
Of course it it a pleasure to meet them all again: (..about the brothers, reviews etc)
This 3rd installment, The Many Sins of Lord Cameron,
is about, as the title says, the second oldest brother Lord Cameron (aka Cam). He is the brother who loves his horses and has a teenage son, Daniel. ~ Now Mac once again meet Ainsley Douglas an interesting beautiful acquainted young wife who turned him down years ago. By now is she a widow working for the Queen.
***********************************************************
Scotland 1882
The plot is to start with about some lost letter the grand Queen Victoria (1819-1901) wrote. Embarrassing, sweet honeyed letters to a man (Mr John Brown). Letters that were never posted and wasn't supposed to be read by anyone besides the queen.
Ainsley need to get the letters and bring them back to the queen, also her boss. They are all (not the queen of course...) on a week long visit in Scotland in the huge Mackenzie castle. Ainsley is invited as an old friend to one of the young wifes, Isabella. Ainsley is pretty sure one a mistress (Mrs. Chase) to Lord Cameron has the missing letters and that she maybe will find them hidden somewhere in Lord C's armoire and rooms.
Oh no!! - He finds her. And it is the second time he catch her snooping among his things. The first time, 6 years ago, and the memory of the subsequent events, is still strong in Ainsley
“I am a bad man, very bad, but in a different way. I want to ravish you until we’re both senseless with it, and then I want to do it all over again.”
The Many Sins of Lord Cameron is not heart-breaking (..or earth-breaking), it is not an ovely intense book, but it is a good steamy sweet romance. A historical but yet very modern, with an contemporary feel to it, though that this is the 1880's.
# The hero Cameron is (heart) damaged, scruffy but of course masculine sexy. A long shapely big Scot, usually in a kilt.
# The heroine Ainsley is mature, inquisitive, independent and easy to like. A young woman who at last get the man she dreamed of.
...In the whole what I want in a historical highlander romance.
***********************************************************
Narrated by
Angela Dawe (9 hrs). ~ It's so sad to say but I just didn't like her style or her voice. It felt squealing, high-pitched and squeaky, and without the right feel for the story. Sorry Ms Dawe, I hate to whine and complain, but that's how I experienced it. (See also above about my raiting.)
***********************************************************
Forget my sour comments and read these great books instead. The first book in this series is fantastic.
I LIKE - an Ms Ashley romance is always a good 'read' -
4.5 Stars
Welcome to the world of the Mackenzies. They are mad, bad, and delicious. And finally, an introduction to the McBrides.
Plot Summary
To say that the horse-mad Lord Cameron Mackenzie has a reputation would be tame indeed. He has some unfinished business with the now widowed Ainsley Douglas, a business that started six years ago. But Lord Cameron has a formidable adversary for Ainsley's time and availability, the Queen. Little does anyone know that Ainsley is not your average biddable lady, and she is absolutely unafraid to pick up the gauntlet thrown by Cameron. We all know how the taming of the shrew goes, but how will the scarred, wild Highlander be tamed?
Quick Review
- Holy crap, this book was brilliant. Ms Ashely delivered a smack in your face, shake you from your comfort zone type of romance in this one. What started out to be a "let's reform a rake" trope ended up into a heart-wrenchingly beautiful story.
- I am not going to waste time talking about the trivialities of structure, pacing, context etc. All of it was fine. This story worked because of the main characters.
- Cam & Ainsley were magnificently unusual together. Their entire journey kept me glued to the pages. Everything about them worked, the commonalities and the differences in personality, the interactions, the chemistry, everything.
- Ainsley was a fantastic heroine. She was written with such a skill, she never once gave an expected reaction. She was a very definition of a strong woman, one that the society is too stupid to admire. The way she handled everything that was thrown at her was exemplary. This heroine had her belief systems firmly in place and refused to budge an inch, and I found her qualities highly commendable.
- Cameron, oh, Cameron. What is it about the broken heroes that melt our hearts? He was such an honourable and resilient man. So exceedingly protective, especially towards Daniel, understandable, considering the circumstances, even so, it warrants a mention. To say that his experiences broke my heart would be too mild a statement. His character was handled beautifully, appropriately and justifiably and also with absolute dignity by Ms Ashley. It's not easy to write such trauma reactions and the corresponding behaviour accurately. As a psychologist, I greatly admire the research that the author must have done. I am so thankful to her for not writing a "one fuck cures all" kind of ending.
- Daniel was an endearingly adorable character. I have said it before, I shall say it again, that the Mackenzie men are ridiculously appealing in a crazy way.
- I enjoyed the breadcrumb of Hart Mackenzie & Eleanor that was thrown, and I am itching to start with their story as soon as my workday ends.
- As usual, the other brothers & their wives add a lovely cameo and a joviality factor.
- The thing that took away half a star was Cam's past trauma. It was very jarring and unexpected, specifically in a romance novel. I had a brief
Kerrigan Byrne throwback. Thankfully, it was not described in egregious details, otherwise, at 2:00 am, it would have been even more unnerving than what it was.
- HM, Queen Victoria painted as a villain-esq persona was hilarious.
PS - The title is wrong. It should have been The Many Saintly Deeds of Lord Cameron. Enough said.
My Recommendation
I loved this book. It upholds the mantle of The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie. Please read it. Now, I am inclined to figure out what the hell happened between Eleanor & Hart. So let us begin
The Duke's Perfect Wife. -
The Mackenzies, what a delectable and decadent treat! They are like a box of chocolates full of your favourite flavours how the hell are you supposed to pick!? You have the nutty Ian Mackenezie, the silky smooth Mac Mackenzie and now the dark chocolate treat that is Cam Mackenzie, I pick dark chocolate, one, because it is my favourite and two because like dark chocolate Cam is slightly bitter. And frankly who can blame him? Like some of the best heroes he has a tortured past, when he was young he impulsively married, not realizing until too late that his wife was completely mad (shades of Jane Eyre in this book, but don't worry, she isn't hiding in the attic!) and she preceded to make Cam's life miserable until she died under some rather suspicious circumstances.
As you can tell I completely loved Cam, I always liked him in the previous books and this one he managed to exceed my expectations. He was a little rough, he liked horses, drink and women, exactly in that order, but you know he is a good man by the way he treats his brothers and how he's tried bumbling through being a parent to his son Daniel. What was fantastic was watching him soften a little as Ainsley becomes important in his life, he doesn't become all gooey but he definitely melts a little.
Ainsley, I liked her, like all the heroines in this series so far she isn't some blushing debutante but a grown woman who knows her own mind and knows what she wants. That is another thing I like about this series the heroines seem more like real women with pasts and insecurities of their own that make them stand out a little more in this genre.
Now to the SEX factor, they were hot together, the chemistry between them was fantastic you could feel the heat and the longing as you read it and it may be wise to carry around a fan with you whilst reading it because it is knicker changingly good.
So, Lord Cameron Mackenzie is my flavour of the month, I recommend you all get your teeth in to him!
My Favourite Quote:
"I don't want to be friends with you, Ainsley Douglas. I want to be your lover. I want to bury myself inside you. I want to find out whether you taste as good all the way down, I want to feel you squeezing me, and I want to hear your cries as you take me inside you."
My Next Flavour of the Month Hart Mackenzie
"Hart wants to win by proving he's right-about everything- not with tittle-tattle and bedroom gossip. Hart wants to be God Almighty. No, he already thinks he's God Almighty. Now he wants to prove it to everyone else." -
This series is as awesome as I remember
For such a "good" girl, Ainsley really was a perfect match for the sinful Cameron. It's been years since I've read this one and my re-introduction to him did not show him in the best light. I had forgotten his past, the scars he wore and the life he'd led. I started The Many Sins of Lord Cameron only seeing his sins. Even at the beginning of the story, I was convinced that my 5-stars previously awarded, was wrong. I was convinced I had made one of those wacky "If I remember correctly..." mass ratings I did when I first started on Goodreads. And then I settled in...
Seriously, historical romance lovers, this series is awesome. OK, I should clarify. This series is awesome if you love stories with crazy family dynamics, messed up childhoods to overcome and characters with faults who know it but make the most of their situations. These men and women are loyal, strong and determined to succeed. This series puts me on a historical romance high and I've loved every return to their world.
I absolutely loved that the narrator did Ainsley's character with a strong and sensual voice. Too often, I find that with so many characters to portray, you can sometimes lose the essence of the character. Ainsley has made mistakes in her past but she's overcome them and made every effort to right her wrongs. She is a dedicated attendant to the Queen and manages to find herself in a tricky situation on one of her errands. This tricky situation has landed her in the bedroom of Lord Cameron, and he wants her to stay.
Again, this is not an easy read/listen. Lord Cameron's past marriage could turn your stomach when you hear the grizzly details. It's no bloody wonder he turns to oblivion to block it all out. The one shining light from his past is his son, Daniel. I loved that Daniel is funny and a bit of a rascal. He is way more mature than any 16-year-old should be and it's no wonder considering his father's and uncle's reckless and rakish ways. The two love each other but like most males, don't often share their feelings. Deep down they know they're loved.
I will definitely be going on. I have to know (be reminded) why I gave that very imperfect Duke...who marries a perfect wife, 5 stars.
I'm sorry, that was a bit of a rambling review, hope you can make some sense of it. Just know that I LOVE the Highland Pleasure series. -
Third in the series, this one really feels like the series has hit its stride. In my opinion, it’s the best of the 4 brothers. Because Ainsley. Because Cam and Daniel. On its surface, there doesn’t seem to be anything special about this storyline. Rake Hero (a true rake, fyi), spinster widow. Yea, sure, we’ve all read it before. But this one feels different.
First, there’s the Mackenzies, who top my list of compelling familyies of brothers (I don’t really have a list). However dysfunctional, however messed up they each are individually, they are a family. Then, the setting is fun, in the late 1880’s, when bohemian society thrives in Paris and Monte Carlo, where the book spends some time. The Mackenzie’s are filthy rich, and it’s fun being filthy rich. The setting benefits from third in series. Also, the widower father with a teenage son, who has been raised in an unconventional way, adds an interesting dynamic.
Ainsley is a widow who was not left well off and now is a paid companion to the Queen. She is the companion the Queen trusts with extracting her from delicate situations, the paid companion henchman so to speak. It is in the act of helping the Queen that she meets Cam, not for the first time, but in the fateful time. They had met under similar circumstances 6 years before. Both times she was searching his bedroom. This time he’s not going stop the pursuit. Sharing a sizzling attraction, they each find in the other what they have been missing in life. In their own ways, they are both lonely and carry the weight of guilt from their respective pasts that they need freed from. They are also both a bit ornery. There are some dark moments in their past but it doesn’t weigh the story down.
This was a reread for me, and it was fun and didn’t let me down (phew). Besides the romance, which is really cute, I appreciate the details that are historically accurate that show a changing time. I also appreciate the pace that Ashley sets. It’s a cozy warm blanket pace that you can sink into, rather than scalding temperature fast, meant to keep you on your toes. That’s fun too, but it’s to read read something you can delight in and enjoy without feeling like your on a roller coaster. This book is not perfect, but it is a good read. -
3,5 estrellitas.
Cameron Mackenzie - a huge man, sculptured in muscle
Who can resist a Scotsman in a kilt? Not me! So I'm thrilled that those deliciously sexy Mackenzie brothers are back! THE MANY SINS OF LORD CAMERON, the third book in Jennifer Ashley's popular Highland Pleasures series, tells Cameron Mackenzie's story.
Escaping the boredom of his brother's ball, Lord Cameron Mackenzie takes his latest lover, Phyllida Chase, to his bedchamber in pursuit of more satisfying pleasures. That is until he discovers Ainsley Douglas hiding behind his curtains. Having persuaded Phyllida to return to the ball, he confronts Ainsley:
"So tell me, Mrs Douglas," he said, his gravelly voice flowing over her. "What the devil are you doing in my bedchamber this time?"
History appears to be repeating itself because, six years ago, Cameron caught the same Ainsley Douglas snooping about in his bedchamber. He's sure her reason for being here this time will be no more plausible than it was six years ago. Above all, what he does remember of their last meeting is:
The scent of her mingling with roses, the feel of her in the curve of his arm, the tickle of her fair hair against his chin awoke emotions he‘d thought long dead.
Seduction had been his aim then, but despite the lady's apparent willingness, she had ultimately refused to betray her elderly husband. Now Ainsley Douglas is a widow and Cameron has every intention of finishing what they started six years ago!
Forced to hide behind the curtains in his bedchamber, Ainsley Douglas ponders why Phyllida had to choose Cameron Mackenzie of all people as her lover? In revenge for being dismissed as lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria, Phyllida has stolen certain potentially embarrassing letters from Her Majesty and has demanded payment for their return. As a trusted lady-in-waiting, Ainsley has been charged with the task of recovering the letters and having seen Phyllida slip a letter into Cameron's pocket, she had started to search for it in his bedroom but now finds herself facing Cameron just as she did six years ago. Memories come flooding back to her of:
...his breath burning her skin, his hands on her back. And his kiss. A deep warm kiss that had awakened every single desire Ainsley had ever had.
The spark between them still burns brightly, but what of the future? Will their love be strong enough to overcome the dark secrets from their pasts?
Ms Ashley has a gift for creating intriguing and vibrant characters like Cameron and Ainsley who stay in your imagination long after you've closed the book.
If anyone is in need of the tender loving care from a special woman, it's definitely Cameron Mackenzie. Reading how he suffered both mental and physical abuse at the hands of his deranged first wife, Elizabeth, in order to protect his baby son, was so heartrending. Even after her suicide, Elizabeth still haunts Cameron as there is speculation that he murdered her. When Ainsley says - "I do hope it is hot where you are Lady Elizabeth Cavendish, Very, very, hot." – I was thinking, my sentiments exactly!
Cameron's physical scars may have healed but his emotional scars have not. He is living a grey existence and only feels alive when he's with his horses. He certainly isn't short of female company but never offers any long-term commitment. He has a deep mistrust of women, never wishing to marry again and who can blame him? But Ainsley sees the pain and loneliness he hides and is determined heal his tormented soul with her love, tenderness and compassion:
...her tenderness wrapped him and eased every hurt in his soul.
Ainsley has suffered her own heartbreak in the past and I understand why she is reluctant to give her heart to any man again. At first she does try to resist Cameron but stands no chance against such a skilled seducer:
He was a man who knew how to make women yearn to give him what he wanted. Ainsley, for all her seeming recklessness, had learned to be cautious - everything done for a reason, every risk calculated against its reward. But with Cameron, the old reckless Ainsley reared up, wanting him to undo her bodice down to her waist and take what he pleased.
Jennifer Ashley certainly knows how to seduce her reader, just as Cameron seduces Ainsley. The continuing game Cameron plays with Ainsley of how many buttons will you undo for me? and the erotic scene in the darkened opera box help to create an atmosphere of anticipation. She even achieves it with just a few words:
She jerked Cameron's handkerchief from his pocket and started dabbing his lips. "You have lip colour on your face."
Cameron gave her a hot smile. "I want to see it all over my body."
My mind was working overtime trying to imagine how that scene would play out! Ultimately the love scenes are a wonderful combination of sensual imagery, dialogue and touches of humor.
I like Cameron's son, Daniel, who seems to have a wise head on such young shoulders. He is astute enough to recognize that Ainsley is just what his father needs and he knows what he wants to do in life and goes after it. I love his reply when Cameron says he's been a terrible father:
"All you got was a dad who beat his sons and was jealous of them too. I have a dad who tries to do the right thing, even if he mucks it up most of the time."
Ian and Beth and Mac and Isabella from the two previous books all make welcome reappearances and the scene involving Hart Mackenzie and Lady Eleanor Ramsay provides an intriguing teaser for their book, The Duke's Perfect Wife, the next in the series.
All you lassies out there who have not yet discovered the seductive world of the Mackenzie brothers, what are you waiting for? This series is a treat not to be missed!

6 stars!!!
Since last year in 2011, I have started reading Jennifer Ashley’s fantastic “Highland Pleasures” series beginning with “The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie” and ever since then, I have fallen in love with this fantastic series! Now, I have currently read the third book in the “Highland Pleasures” series which is called “The Many Sins of Lord Cameron” and it is easily the best story in the series so far! “The Many Sins of Lord Cameron” has loads of action, heartwarming moments and hot romance that every romance fan will definitely gush over for many years!
Six years ago, a young Cameron Mackenzie meets up with a young woman named Ainsley Douglas and even though they tried to make love to each other that day, Ainsley could not finish it because she was married to John Douglas at the time and did not want to betray him. Years later, Ainsley Douglas is now a widow and when she meets up with the notorious Cameron Mackenzie again, Cameron decided that he will finish what was started between him and Ainsley six years ago. However, Cameron and Ainsley will soon realize that dark secrets will be revealed and that their love for each other might ignite brighter than before!
Oh my goodness! This book was just absolutely amazing, heartbreaking and exciting all at the same time! Jennifer Ashley has certainly woven a truly brilliant and heartwarming story about two lovers who both have dark secrets in their pasts, but are willing to put the past behind them in order to obtain true love! I just loved all the characters in this book and Jennifer Ashley has done an awesome job at crafting each character’s personalities to make every one of them stand out. I especially loved Daniel Mackenzie, Cameron’s son, who was always trying to bring Ainsley and Cameron together while providing good humor for the story. It was amusing seeing how Daniel always seems to know what is best for his father and Ainsley while he is always doing the opposite of what his father tells him to do. I really loved the awkward relationship that Daniel shares with Cameron because it brings so much humor to the story, especially with Daniel just randomly spewing out secrets that his father never told anyone. Now about the two main characters, Ainsley Douglas and Cameron Mackenzie, they were probably the greatest couple I have ever read about in any romance novel! Ainsley Douglas is shown to be a strong and crafty heroine who does not let anything get in her way of her love for Cameron and it was hilarious seeing her constantly pick locks to get into other people’s rooms. I also loved the way that Ainsley was trying to help Cameron overcome his inner demons that dealt with his late wife, Elizabeth and the things that Elizabeth did to Cameron were just too horrible to describe. This truly shows that Ainsley really cares about Cameron and was willing to put her own desires on the side to be with Cameron. Cameron Mackenzie is probably my favorite hero at this moment because he is so dark yet handsome and that really made his character truly interesting! I also loved the way that Jennifer Ashley describes Cameron’s body being a body of “God” as he is truly large and muscular and tall! But what truly touched me about Cameron’s character was with his dark and frightening past. It was sad seeing Cameron being so distrusting of women because of what his late wife, Elizabeth did to him all those years and I really felt sympathy for Cameron. Bringing out Cameron’s dark past and his sadness over it has really brought out a new dimension to Cameron’s character by making him somewhat vulnerable, but still trying to overcome that fear that he has been holding up for many years. I really loved the love shared between Cameron and Ainsley as it was genuine and sensual at the same time that I was literally anticipating the next scene of them loving each other!
For those of you who do not like sex scenes, there is sex scenes littered throughout this book and they are extremely explicit as many naughty phrases are littered throughout each sex scene.
Overall, “The Many Sins of Lord Cameron” is easily one of the best books out of Jennifer Ashley’s “Highland Pleasures” series and I am definitely looking forward to reading Hart’s book, “The Duke’s Perfect Wife.” -
I love this quote and found it so fitting for Lord Cameron and Lady Ainsley. ❤
What a lovely addition to this series. Ian's story is still my favorite but there is so much to love about Cameron. He is one of those heroes that is burly and gruff on the outside but ever so sweet and loving on the inside. How he loved Ainsley without ever uttering the words. **sigh**
And Ainsley was a lot of fun to be around. She was his little devil. :) "How many buttons can you open my lord...."
Fabulous series thus far!! -
There’s something about them Mackenzie men that makes me fall deeply in love with them. 😍

4 My poor Cam Stars
If you are looking for a Historical Fiction series to get into, you really need to try the Mackenzie’s and McBrides series. These books are addictive! I think Jennifer Ashley will be my new go-to HF author from now on.
This is Cam and Ainsley’s book.
I didn’t know much about Cam and there was a brief shared moment they had in the previous book. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t care much for Ainsley UNTIL I got to know her then I loved her. I like the Heroines of these series because they aren’t wallflowers, but they aren’t overly sassy ladies. The ladies have a right balance of damsel and confidence.
Ainsley and Cam shared a brief moment and its years later they meet again, now that Ainsley is a widow.
Cam doesn’t want to remarry again. He had a horrible wife and is perfectly fine using ladies to wet his fancy. BUT there’s something about Ainsley he can’t get out of his head. Ainsley is on holiday from being the Queen’s companion. She’s visiting one of the wives of the Mackenzies and she gets into mischief wherever she goes.
The first chapter is her trapped in a room with Cam and his most recent lover. It’s really cute and it was a good start of the book.
I was consumed with this book from the first page. I couldn’t put it down and I read it in two days (these books are pretty long, but no complaints there). I love the tension between Ainsley and Cam and I love all the added tension.
There’s a lot that goes on in this book and there’s never a dull moment. I love that Ainsley can pick locks, I love that Cam is so damaged (I would even say he might be a little more damaged than Ian). Oh and you know I love a single dad! I can’t wait for the son’s (Daniel’s) book, he’s too adorable.
Ian is still my favorite, but Cam is my second fav. I really enjoyed this one. -
4 1/2 "New Life" Stars!
I loved it. Maybe more to come soon. Happy reading! -
Cannot say I loved this one as much as the first two books. Cameron is just too much of a manwhore for me. And Ainsley knows it and gets to witness it. But even with that, given the time period, it made sense and worked overall. Ainsley was not a heroine I titally loved either. So I was just not as invested in this couple as the first two. -
3.5 stars
I really did like this novel and as much as it's a historical romance, it read quite modern. Whether it be through the language being used or the writing style, I'm not sure why it came across as more modern but either way it gave some ease in the reading experience.
Both of the main characters were well suited and I liked both of them individually as well as their chemistry. I like a broody male main character like Cam but can understand why others may not like him because of that specific personality trait.
There should be a content warning for this novel regarding domestic abuse, sexual assault, and rape. Although there were no explicit scenes in this novel there were discussions regarding these events that occurred in a character's past.
I did read this novel as a standalone but I would be interested in reading the rest of the series because I really enjoyed the storytelling and writing style from this author. -
Rate: 5 stars
This is the first time I've a series consecutively, one book after the other without reading anything else in between and I have to say this is shaping up to be one of the best historical romance series I've ever read. Boy, have I fallen in love with the Mackenzies (Ian being my favourite of course).
Ainsley half closed her eyes and leaned back against him. “I think all the buttons tonight, don’t you?”
Cameron bit her cheek. His fingers made swift work of the buttons, and he plunged his hands inside her warm nightgown. “I’ve been dying for you.”
♥ Cam and Ainsley ♥
Firstly, I would like to say, Elizabeth is the most treacherous and black-hearted excuse for a woman. After learning about the things she did to Cameron I wanted to pull her out of the grave and kill her myself. I am so glad Ainsley came along and rescued Cam from his loneliness. Of course she was perfect for Cameron and as all good heroines do, she pulled him out of his hard shell and showed him what it was like to be loved. Most of the story is quite the stereotypical tortured hero being rescued by the sweet (but naughty) heroine plot line. After being abused so severely by his previous wife, Cam is unable to sleep in a bed with a woman due to his fear of being raped and tortured in his sleep. Eventually Ainsley wears down his protective barriers and they live happily ever after.
♥ Daniel ♥
Ohh Daniel is growing up to be one hell of a Mackenzie male. I loved the role he played in bringing his father and Ainsley together. The part where he told his father he wanted to take a mistress was pure genius.
“I have one all picked out,” Daniel was saying. “And she’s not a tart.”
Cameron prayed for strength. “Who? A daughter of Hart’s guests? Please, Danny, tell me you haven’t already seduced her.” Hart would be in a black fury over that and put the blame squarely on Cameron.
“No, Dad. It’s Aunt Isabella’s friend, Mrs. Douglas."
I can't wait to read his story when it comes out!
Book 4:
The Duke's Perfect Wife
Next I'll be moving onto Hart's story :D I'm really excited about it. We've already been introduced to Eleanor and the history between the two has been mentioned so many times that I'm bubbling to know exactly why she left him and how they get back together. I also hear that Ian plays a huge role in bringing them together so I guess I'll be fawning all over him from afar again. -
After being immensely disappointed with Mac and Isabella's story, I wasn't sure what to expect from The Many Sins of Lord Cameron. It could easily be as epic as Ian's book or as predictable as Isabella's.
After finishing the story, I think it falls somewhere in between the two, meaning it's a great step up from Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage but still not as amazing as The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie was. In fact, nearly everything about Cameron's book falls somewhere in the middle of the first two.
Cameron Mackenzie is neither as cool and calm as Ian nor as hot-headed as Mac. He's better at dealing with emotions than Ian, but still less passionate than Mac. And then there's that broken, lonely air about him that's all his and the main reason I fell in love with him initially. Especially after finding out about what Elizabeth used to do to him.
Similarly, Ainsley is neither as gentle as Beth nor as wilful and reckless as Isabella. She's a fantastic heroine and absolutely perfect for Cam, but not really that memorable as a character.
Watching Ainsley and Cam rediscover love was a beautiful, heartwarming experience. I also enjoyed seeing the previous two couples interacting with each other, especially Beth and Ian. Ian has come a long way from the man he was at the beginning of The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie and I like how Ashley's tastefully keeping us updated on his, and Mac's, life.
Now, onto the lastand most deliciousMackenzie brother!

Cameron's story.
