Catscript Reviews
-
A fine selection of poems about cats, some seen more often than others. For instance, the eighth century Irish poem Pangur Ban is one not seen too often and its eight verses have a contemporary feel about them even today.
Of course, T S Eliot is represented and who is to argue that his is the best offering in the book? It is for me, anyway!
The whole is delightfully illustrated and calligraphed by the author. -
I have had this book since I stole it from the library when I was a student! Well, not exactly. This was pre-Amazon days, and I loved it so much I pretended to the library I had lost it and agreed to pay the cost of the book, just so I could keep it. I had a Siamese cat at the time (I have a different one now) and the drawings of the Siamese cats really appealed.
The poetry is cute ... some more surreal than others, but my favourites are about Sally on the mouse hunt and the Naming of Cats.
It really is a beautiful book and one that will be kept always by cat lovers!
