Book two in the Vampires & Mages & Weres, Oh My! Series Just a demon's luck. Seth finally finds the perfect house...and it comes with an angel. The last thing that demon Seth expects to come across while househunting is an injured angel...especially one who has no idea he's anything but human. Every instinct in him wants to stay far away, but Kyrian is being targeted by another demon, and Seth reluctantly finds himself playing guardian to the irresistible male. Kyrian has no idea what is 'haunting' his house, but after he breaks his ankle being shoved off the deck, he's had enough. Strong, handsome Seth is a godsend, making him feel safe and secure. But he alludes to secrets that will test everything Kyrian believes...and turns the tables on just who needs protecting. Reader Advisory: This book is part of a series, but can easily be read as a standalone book.

Through the Red Door (Vampires \u0026 Mages \u0026 Weres, Oh My!, #2) Reviews

A great addition to the series, this second book deals with the slightly more serious "issue" of what happens when a demon, Seth, falls in love with an angel, Kyrian - only the angel thinks he's human.

I liked how protective Seth is of Kyrian from the very start. The fact that he risks everything, including his life, to save Kyrian is very touching. It makes the ending all the more fun and rewarding. This story, like the first, is written with a large dollop of humor and had me laughing out loud several times. I look forward to the next instalment!

WOW!! If I could I would give it more stars I would. It was amazing!!
I could not put it down once I started it.
It was Hot, sexy, suspense, kind of like forbidden love (demon and angel)very funny (I can still picture Kyrian sliding down the stairs on his butt, LOL! not knowing that Seth is watching!! LOL, it just strikes me funny)
This is by far one of my new favorites!!
    Thanks Devon it was great!
I can't wait for Locke the werewolf's story next!!
    OH MY!

**Happy sigh** Devon Rhodes made my sappy heart melt with this one!

The teaser for the next story is from 2010 now we have 2012!...where is Locke's story and who is Aspen? I really hate to wait years for a new book in a series!!!

I absolutely loved this. From the outset it was engaging and unusual. Loved the whole red door concept and the way Seth reveals he's a demon and senses another demon lurking around the premises of the angelic-owned house.
The lingering sense of danger is well woven through the sensual storyline...I liked that enormously.
Lucifer (Or, as Seth calls him, Luci) the dog is a hoot and I laughed at the idea of a Mastiff living 15 years and why it never occurred to his human/angel owner, Kyrian, that this was unusually long. The relationship between Kyrian and Seth built up quickly and I liked the little nuances throughout the story. I know several people who are 'klutzes' and I now see them in a different light.
It's a sweet, sexy story and I can't wait to read Locke's story and his search for a maze!

Good short paranormal m/m romance about a demon enforcer out house hunting who finds a house that would be perfect if it wasn't for the warded red door and his inexplicable reaction to the owner's scent... Alas, I felt this book was marred by an abrupt ending - spending a few more pages tying things up after the conflict was resolved would've helped immensely.

This is the second book of this series, although there doesn't seem to be any connection between the first and the second (Although the way this one ends I suspect there will be a third and it will be related to at least this book if not the first as well.)

Seth Gere, is a demon looking for a new home. Kyrian De Angelo is the angel that is selling his home. WHich is how these two meet, and all at once there is a connection between these two natural enemies.

I'm not sure if all these little stories are building the world for one big overall stories. While this one had more to follow than the first, it still seems as though you get just enough information for the story to feel a little confusing. The relationship however is kind of sweet.

During the story we meet Locke, an Omega werewolf and in the epilogue we find out he's been called and sort of why. But it does obviously feel like a set up for the next story.

I'm still curious about her use of the british spellings of words since she lives in Oregon and it seems like her stories are set in a nondescript location that could be in the US of England.

This second in the series can easily be read as a stand alone, Seth a powerful ( and good) demon is looking to buy a house.
The house he absolutely has to have is owned by Kyriel ( an angel who has not come into his power and who doesn't know he is an angel).
Angels seem to be pretty tough guys in this world and don't treat demons well, despite that Seth has fallen for his angel.
A malevolent demon is after the angel and Seth is there to help him.
This story also feels rushed and the world building isn't satisfying.
And on a side note the epilogue is more of a blurb for book three and has very little to do with this book! That is annoying!

    2.5 stars

I read the first book a while ago and have been meaning to read the second ever since. But with the first a 3-star read, I wasn't hyper-motivated, so Bingo was the perfect catalyst to get me to finally read it.

I mostly enjoyed it, and I laughed a fair bit. But there was too much that happened way too quickly and conveniently at the end, and my suspended disbelief collapsed. As if that weren't bad enough, it ended with one of my pet peeves: an epilogue that does nothing but set up for the sequel. Grrrrr, I hate that!

I think this was probably still a 3 star book until the epilogue, even with the collapsed disbelief at the end. But because I was already kind of annoyed, the epilogue was the last straw and knocked my rating down half a star.

Never mind that it was short and fast, it is still such a good story.

Ugh, I really hate it when I love a short story or a novelette or something similar. Why in the gods names is this so short? T^T I want more

Really nice cliffhanger you left us dangling with for the next book, T.A! :grumbling:

Very very sweet story this one was and I really liked it. Easy read and one you can't help but to like.

Weirdness, but really cool weirdness. :D

Improbable and fun pairing of heaven and hell.

  • blub

More appealing to me than the first book in the series. It was an intriguing read and the little teaser/cliffhanger makes me look forward to the next installment.

The 2nd book in the series and a little longer but still shorter than a novella I think. It was entertaining and I like the characters. Interesting how the author got a demon and an angel together!

  • Donna

Cute, short read! OK, I am seeing a pattern here! Hehehe
Seth, a demon and Kyrian, and angel are instantly attracted to each other… only, Kyrian doesn’t know he is an angel and Seth knows that when Kyrian finds out and comes into his powers that will be the end of them… or will it? *grin*
