First Reads
Dorothy McFalls offered me a advanced reader's copy of
Taken By Moonlight in ebook format in return for an honest review.
This was a very quick and enjoyable read for me. I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what would happen next. My only complaint is I wish it were a more lengthy novel. I've actually placed this on my novella shelf. I probably would have given it 5 stars if the book had a little more depth to it. I wanted
Dorothy McFalls to expand the plot a little more. It had a wham-bam-thank you-ma'am sort of feel to it.
However, I really really liked this little paranormal regency romance.
Dorothy McFalls balanced the historical/paranormal/seduction aspect very nicely. I couldn't get enough of the steamy chemistry between Dimitri and Lia. It was mouthwatering.
Dorothy McFalls has a great talent. I've read one of her other historical romances, but she has a gift when adding a paranormal twist to her work. When reading, you can sense the excitement and passion she poured into writing this book.
Other than wishing it were longer, I have no complaints.
I have no doubt that I will continue reading more from this talented author. As a fellow South Carolinian and Southern lady, I'll be rooting for her continued success. For those who love historical romances and paranormal romances, this is a winner, and I recommend giving it try. I believe it becomes available 11/01/2012, so mark your calendars.
Happy Reading y'all! -
Romance, history and werewolves...what's not to like? In this short read, Dorothy McFalls creates two strong characters, some hot romance and some great fantasy!
Dimitri is a lone werewolf who has become a successful London businessman, but his kind are being hunted to extinction and the pack he left behind, in Russia, no less have come to him and demand his assistance in helping to save the pack.
Lia is a young London social beauty who is 'unspoiled' and more than who she thinks she is. Could she be the savior of wolfkind?
The chemistry between the mysterious and very alpha Dimitri and the strong-willed Lia is hot!
Need some spice and a good read when time is short? I highly recommend Taken by Moonlight! -
This was a free novella through Amazon. I haven’t read anything from this author before, but the tag of “Historical Paranormal Romance” caught my attention. My three favorite genres combined into one!
Super Short Summary:
Lady Amelia is an almost-on-the-shelf-woman at 21 years old. She is restless and bored of the usual social niceties.
Dimitri we soon learn is a lone wolf who has been called upon by his old pack (the only pack?) to find the missing daughter of the long dead pack’s previous alpha male and female.
Lady Amelia and Dimitri meet and sparks fly but it appears that Dimitri knows there are other plans for Lady Amelia and struggles with his own feelings about her future.
Thoughts:
This was a novella and I read it in an hour or so. Sometimes I prefer novellas as I can get a short story: beginning, middle and ending all in one sitting. I enjoyed meeting Amelia and Dimitri both. Often one of the main characters will annoy me at some point, but neither did in this case.
I enjoyed meeting some of the other secondary characters like Aunt Lettie and the Earl. They were likeable and three dimensional. I am not such a fan of Dimitri’s sister.
There are a couple of characters that are portrayed as bad guys but then are either shown to be good guys or just fade into the back ground. I feel like Vlad’s situation was unresolved.
Overall, I enjoyed this very much. The summary doesn’t say much so I can’t tell if explaining which of the various paranormal creatures exist in this book would be a spoiler so I won’t say anything except it is my favorite of the paranormal creatures here.
Favorite Quote: Lord Carew to Lady Amelia
“Lord help me,” he whispered, “you are so beautiful it causes me pain.”

Lia (Lady Amelia Routledge) has everything a girl in her class could hope for and yet she wants more—she aches for fulfilment. At a ball she finds what she’s been craving in the arms of Lord Carew. Only Dimitri isn’t at all what she expects. Abduction, shape-shifting and sensuality take this story to a level of adventure where it’s impossible to put down. I was glued to the pages to find out what happens to poor Lia. With each conflict, I became more hooked until I turned the clock so I the time didn’t fill me with guilt. This is a must-read for anyone who likes to read a story in one sitting. Taken by moonlight was written by a Pro!!

Book ♥♥ 2 Stars
Author ♥♥♥ 3 stars
Total ♥♥ 2.5 stars
Bored Lady Amelia finds out things about her true self. She is bored of being a socialite but, can she handle the truth. Can Dimitri kidnap her and give her excitement. I loved the sexual chemistry between the hero and heroine but I could not get into the book. I think that the author has great potential and so does the book. I think maybe if there was more development to the book I would have enjoyed it much more. I give the author 3 stars and the book 2 stars. I like the author but, the book was okay. -
Well... what could I say about this novel except that it was really to "spiced" to my taste.
I didn't know at first it was a supernatural book. It was on a box about Dorothy McFalls's regency novels but I didn't had all the summary of the book, so that was a surprise.
Well, I could have bought the Wolf thing if only it could have talk about other thing that only coupling...
I was really disappointed after having enjoyed so much "The Marriage List" and "Lady Iona's Rebellion".
Well... not every book can be a remarkable one... this one is certainly not one to my taste at least. -
I didn't pay attention when I downloaded this, and didn't realize until I was well into it, that this was a short. I generally like epic tales the more meat on the bone, the better. However, I enjoyed this story and I would definitely recommend it.

My first thought was: werewolves and Regency period? Meh... I really enjoyed other two novels rom this author and I was quite surprised by this turn. However this shor novel has a good pace and it has been a quick reading. Not my favourite from Dorothy McFalls, but an enjoyable story nonetheless.
