It's nothing personal...
Blond, beautiful bounty hunter Vega Brookes is on the hunt for her latest skip trace. Her prey, ex-special forces officer Grayson Walker, is ruthless, a killer. She shouldn't feel attracted to him. Even so, the closer she gets to finding Grayson, the louder her instincts shout that things are not what they seem.

It's only murder...
Grayson Walker is dangerous...and determined. Someone is killing those closest to him, and he's desperate to find out why. When a firecracker of a bounty hunter comes close to capturing him, he fights back and ends up shooting her. Yet not even a gunshot wound can cool the sparks that fly between them whenever they're together. Soon, his life turns into a deadly race to earn Vega's trust, track down a killer, and avoid falling in love.

The Huntress Reviews

I was surprised by how good this book was. It's very well written and the story really captivated me. There's humour, drama and lots of old fashioned action with bullets flying and violence in every corner. Vega (weird name but cute) and Grayson sure were an interesting couple too. Very intense. I think it a shame this isn't a series. I wouldn't mind reading more about them.

hope this turns into a series.

This is a book that is perfect for Summer reading. It has a quick pace, characters with depth, suspense mixed with a bit of sexual frustration. It has some predictable twists and turns, but still was a very entertaining read. If it were a movie, I would wait to see it as a renter, but I would still want to see it!

The most enjoyable aspects of the book was the sexual frustration of the two main characters. When the release happens for them, it happens for the reader as well. That is how well the moment is written. The reader is very much in the mind of both main characters, so you know.... exactly what they're thinking. The writing isn't drawn out either, it's to the point - not a lot of adjectives thrown in, to make us any more hot than we are (and to get us bored) - because the moment itself is hot. The reader is waiting for it as much as the characters are.

My only problem with the book was the main Heroine's name.....Vega. I seriously had a problem reading her name over and over again. Along with her Sisters name, Fiona. How can you not picture Shrek? It would have been nice to have her with a name I could recognize as a name, but for being the only "issue" I had, I'm ok with it.

Like I said, it's a good Summer read. It took me about 5 hours to complete. The climax isn't huge, but the pace keeps you reading. My final notes.... It is so refreshing to have a leading lady that isn't a push over! She knew her stuff and is kick-butt!! There are women in our world just like her, it's nice to see them in literature!

Lastly - It is refreshing to read a suspense novel/romantic thriller without all the harsh language! There isn't one F-bomb in the book and the other language isn't more than you'd hear on the t.v. Refreshing to not worry about all that invading your head. It shows that the characters are all at least intelligent enough to use different language. Dorothy McFalls could have written it with smut language and got away with it, because of the nature of the novel and I am really thankful she didn't.

I give 4 stars, because this isn't going to win any prizes, but it sure did entertain the heck out of me!

Vega always gets her man, woman, child, whoever she has been sent after. She takes are job as a bounty hunter very seriously and she is one of the best in spite of being a former beauty queen. Her life is turned upside down when Grayson Walker's file hits her desk. Grayson has been on the lose for 6 months and Vega is determined to accomplish what her three predecessor could not - bringing him in after he skipped bail. Grayon however has no intention of being caught until he proves his innocence. He is in the fight of his life after being accused of murdering his best friend and business partner along with the previous three bounty hunters sent to bring him in.

As the chase continues, Vega and Grayson match wits and a growing attraction. The battle of wills ends with betrayal, bullets, and the uncovering of a bigger conspiracy both unwittingly became a part of.

I like reading about bounty hunters, my fav is J. Evanovich´s Stephanie Plum. So i really wanted to like this. Or at least, finish the book. This was a DNF. The heroine? Well, if Stephanie Plum had a love child with both Morelli and Ranger, you might come close. This heroine, the awesome Vega, is a highly skilled bounty hunter (She always take her catch) and has more action in the bedroom than a tom cat. *sigh* Ok, i can read some clichés but when she´s on a run and the hero shoots her, and her gorgeous baby sister is next in line, i just gave up. They were too great, and namedropping brands is not my cup of tea.

Vega Brooks was employed at the Bail Enforcement Agency as a Bounty Hunter and worked very hard at the job she did well. Grayson Hunter, renown killer, was to be her next assignment. She had to succeed where many had failed, including her arrogant lover Butch Polsen. The suspense of finding the real culprit keeps you reading and thankfully the book is well-written with a descriptive style that flows easily. The characters are life-like and easy to visualize. It was an enjoyable read. Really...treat yourself!!

This book starts so promising with an exciting plot and captivating leads, Vega and Grayson. Vega is a sexy Bounty Hunter-- my first book with the female lead with this occupation. Grayson is a man on the run, and he a master of out running the law. There is a lot of secondary characters that actually play a major role in this action-packed book.
What made this book only get 3.25 Stars from me, is that over and over Vega and even Grayson would be out-numbered and out-gunned, and still win the fights, even when they were wounded. It just got old and took away from the story line.

    Lots of Action

I really enjoyed the plot, the characters and the writing of this book. Vega and Grayson are 2 very likable people who are dealing with a lot of baggage in their lives. I liked how the issues they had were resolved the end; everyone loves a happy ending.

This story fell apart at the end. Actions didn't make sense. I think the author just got tired of writing it and just wanted it to end.

Update on review 7/9/14: still loved everything about this book and forgot how much fun it was!! Love Vega and Grayson!!! Highly recommend!!

What a great book! I truly enjoyed reading this story, it had everything a girl who dreams to be a bad ass would want, lol. I love reading books where the female of the story is not a weakling that she can actually take care of herself and kick some major ass doing!!

Vega was no ordinary girl, she was the top bounty hunter and she worked under her Uncle. In the book Vega is given a task to bring in the handsome and the amazingly hot Grayson Walker! Grayson is accused of murdering his best friend and business partner and is on the run/hiding. When Vega tracks him down she realizes that this case is going to be a lot more difficult than she had ever imagined and that there were things in the story that didn't add up. After getting shot and losing Grayson she refuses to give up, but investigating further she realizes she is up against more than she maybe possibly able to take on by herself.

This story was so much fun to read, Vega is one of my favorite heroines so far. She is determined, not willing to stop till she gets her man. She is tough but also has a little bit of soft spot. She has a smart ass mouth and mean right hook! What else could you ask for, lol! Grayson is just hotness all put together in neat little man package, haha! Ex-Special Ops, this man knows how to fight and he is not willing to back down when it comes to proving his innocence. The tension between Vega and Grayson was great, I liked how it was a full love at first site moment, in fact wasn't that much love through the whole book, haha...

The book was well written and had a great story that never seemed to let down on the action. I loved the fact that it was in different POV's. It always makes a book more real to me when you can look into what the other characters are thinking. Only the main character POV, just doesn't make the story seem real (doesn't mean I don't stop reading them though, lol).

I definitely recommend this book, I really think you will like it. Specially if you are all about a female being able to kick some ass and hot man to follow up.

From the cover: Blond, beautiful bounty hunter Vega Brookes is on the hunt for her latest skip trace. Her prey, ex-special forces officer Grayson Walker, is ruthless, a killer. The Huntress was a decent read about a bounty hunter named Vega. She is tough as nails and gets assigned to one of the nations hardest cases. No other bounty hunter has even came close to catching Grayson Walker, except Vega. Vega and Grayson have an immediate connection. Grayson is good at giving Vega the slip but Vega is just as good at finding him again. It's turns into a tale where Vega starts to believe Grayson's innocence and she tries to help him gain his freedom. This story was entertaining but a bit predictable.

If you are a fan of romanace novels where the female is empowered and strong without the man then this could be a book you would really get into. The lead character Vega is a former cop turned bounty hunter with a perfect track record. Her reputation proceeds her and yet she doesn't feel like she has landed a big enough catch to make her dad proud of her, so she takes on the hunt for Grayson Walker. Grayson eluded 3 other top hunters, but she is ready to be the one to take him down.

Vega has no idea what she is in for when she finally catches up with Grayson, he will definitely impact her for sometime to come.

I really wanted to like The Huntress but the further I got into it the more I started skimming. I did finish but it was a chore. I found the plot predictable and the action sequences more and more unbelievable. In thinking about it, I think the author simply tried to pack too many plot elements into one book. I am all for kick-ass heroines but Vega was just over the top. She seemed to be able to take out squadrons of armed men without breaking a sweat---with a healing gunshot wound no less! Just didn't work for me.

  • Christine

I really liked the fast paced suspense thriller with the hint of romance. Vega is just the right woman for the job, Bounty Hunter that is. She works at her Uncle Jacks company with her sister Fiona. Jack gives her a job to find and bring in Grayson Walker. She finds him, loses him, he finds her and back and forth, cat and mouse playing at the greatest level. Vega is working with a Bounty Hunter from another agency Butch, who will either help or hinder her in the plan.

A different change of pace from the White House Gardner books that I also love to read.

  • N. Kuhn

I really enjoyed reading this book! The plot was interesting. Vega is chasing down a felon who jumped bail and it's a large amount of money. She's driven and ready to fight for this capture. Little does she know she may end up fighting someone close to her! This book was exciting, interesting, and I couldn't put it down. Not only was it full of action and mystery, there's a romance as well. It was just the sweet sexy kind that makes a good book seem like it would be a good movie :)

  • Sallie Griffin

This was a spectacular book. Honestly I was surprised, because I mean the looked pretty good. But I expected it to follow the path of other writers and a rewrite of sorts. This is not the case with The Huntress. I mean Wow! It blew me away.....all the characters were funny, clever, and badass, you had the interesting story line and you had that shroud of mystery that surrounds every good story. Go Dorothy McFalls this one was a huge success! ;-)

    Bounty Hunters!!
Vega just picks them up and gives them to the law...
    Until Grayson
everyone says he is a killer....
but she can connect the dots faster than anyone, and she soon realises that he is something completely different
Fast paced with amazing detail in the fight scenes, this one will satisfy your yearning for realistic contemporary mystery with a kickass heroine!

  • Brandi Porter

Vega was a great heroine. She lived by her own rules, sometimes her fathers, but mostly her own. Grayson the hero I would have liked to read more about. Especially what happened to his partner and his feelings towards Vega. I'm not sure when or how they fell in love when they hardly had interactions with each other till the very end of the book. But I thought it was a decent read.

  • Laura

    Sexy and full of action

I don't typically read crime stories but this one was good. Kept me on the edge with the action, suspense, little tidbits of information and let's not forget it is also a romance novel. Very glad to see Vega happy at the end. Hopefully there's more in the future.

  • JjJlJr

A solid, well paced storyline moved this story steadily along. I liked the stamina and determination of the lead character, even when it landed her in trouble. The cat and mouse chase between the protagonists was fun and entertaining to read. The relationship between the characters felt genuine, and their interactions complimented one another. A Solid Good Read!

  • Monique Grasso

I really enjoyed this book. I would have liked it to be a bit longer and end slightly different but the book itself was a definite page turner. I would love to read more about her tough as nails bounty hunter - I hope she has a series in the making.

  • Kirsten Lenius

A very nice action romance with a strong heroine. Lots of mud and bugs and gang members along the road for bounty hunter Vega, as she chases ex-special forces officer Grayson who was accused of the murder of his friend and business partner.

  • Cesilia Buenrostro

It was a freebie on Kindle market, plus the summary described an ass-kicking female bounty hunter! Expecting to be spent into a world where female or male, its all about getting the job done with some cool moves. I found it very entertaining and kept me guesssing. Overall good read!

  • Brittany

This is one of my favorite books! The suspense and the romance tie into each other so perfectly, not to mention a pretty great heroine that saves the day in so many different aspects. This is definitely recommended to anyone who likes supense and romance all rolled into one.
