  "That's me!" cries Miss 5 at the end of the book. I liked the book; it's a gentle look at how can autism can present in young girls. Miss 5 had somewhat more conflicted feelings. She enjoyed the book the one time through and then got really upset because there could only be one her and no copies so we weren't allowed to look at the book again.
  
  Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

  Written by the author as a dedication to his daughter, four year old Kya, this is a wonderful description of the world of an autistic child. Narrated in the first person, the reader is taken into the thoughts and feelings of Kya as she navigates her day. The text explores her world and explains her behaviour – how she doesn’t look but listens and absorbs, how she orders and sorts, how she manages things to give a sense of comfort and control.
  
  The beautiful illustrations, in soft muted colours, are filled with detail, and merge with the varied and colourful text, taking the reader through each page. There is also a list of useful links to websites and organisations for further information, help and advice.
  
  Life can be confusing and challenging for an autistic child; this book supports those around them to understand their world. It helps to raise awareness of their condition and would also be good to use in discussion with their friends, siblings and classmates. Although it is aimed at a young age group, it would be suitable for older children too.
  
  Above all, however, it is a celebration of the uniqueness of the individual.
