Lonely Planet Discover Japan (Travel Guide) Reviews
-
Good information but incomplete, for significant parts of the country, those outside of Honshu were neglected.
-
Perfect help for my trip in Japan as the focus is on the higlights of Japan.

Loved the picture of the Geishas in Kyoto. Ever since I read Golden's book, I have pictured them in my mind exactly the way they were depicted in this book:
Here is the cover of the book I read
The part I liked the best was the page describing the best and why's of Japan. It is an incredible big amount of information in such small space and few lines:
Finally, the depiction of Kyoto was another part of this book that make me think that it would be a great companion for trip to the empire of the sun.
I hope you liked this entry. If you feel like viewing more of the books I read, you are welcome to visit my blog:

J'ai lu la version française "L'Essentiel du Japon". Vu le format et la concision, ça n'est pas vraiment le livre à utiliser ou emmener. Mais ça donne un aperçu de divers endroits du Japon, et c'est plus facile à lire dans son intégralité qu'un guide plus complet pour une lecture qui soit plus "voyage dans un fauteuil". Surtout pour les choses qu'on ne compte pas faire (tels les randonnées en montagne par exemple).

I have used this guide in travelling three cities in Japan. It is convenient and give me a good insight on every great places. It has thorough and great details for things that you are looking while traveling to Japan. If you would like to travel independently, might take this guide book as your pal.

I liked the move towards colour maps and photographs but unfortunately it seemed to be at the expense of the content. Not as detailed or useful as previous black/white lonely planet guides. Used to move around Japan in 2011 but not recommended sorry.
