Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 15 (Ouran High School Host Club, #15) Reviews

This book had a lot of the club members' old silliness back. It was nice in a way. Although, I feel that all the club members' personalities have grown and so I'm hoping this is just a small setback. I like how funny they are, but Tamaki especially is back to his old ridiculous self. Not going to lie, never did like his old self that much. The maturity that he's developed while still being a fun caring person is the Tamaki I like most.

    How I choose my rating:
1* Didn't like it at all. These are rare as I usually just don't finish any book I dislike this much.
2** Didn't like it. Again usually DNF if I dislike it this much, but occasionally I feel it still has potential and I try to stick with it to the end.
3*** I liked it. It wasn't great but it was enjoyable enough. It is unlikely I'll ever reread it but I might finish the series if it is a part of one.
4**** I really liked this book. Maybe not a work of genius, but highly entertaining. I might reread this at some point, and I will almost always finish the series if part of one.
5***** I loved this book. I found little to no issues with it at all. I will probably reread this and possibly more than once. I will definitely finish the series if it's part of one.

Tamaki was actually getting on my nerves for a bit in this book... I'm so happy Hikaru told him exactly what I was thinking! The last chapter made me feel kinda sad... I'm not sure if I'm ready for this!

    *3.5*

While there's a lot I enjoyed about this volume, there's sadly also a lot I didn't. I'm simultaneously happy and sad about Tamaki finally coming to terms about his feelings, mostly I just feel heartbroken for Hikaru (I think I might like him more than Kaoru and Tamaki at this point... but that might change later lol), and even though it was funny, I didn't care for Tamaki's reaction, it just felt a bit off. I did really like the sparked rivalry between Hikaru and Tamaki, it's so funny how similar they can be. But the stories aren't really resonating with me, and I can't help but feel a little bored (I feel awful for even writing that T-T). This review feels so clustered and all over the place, sorry lolol.

I can't really rate this because my feelings towards it is clouded by the anime I watched. I know this Vol. wasn't adapted though, anyway. I donno why I started reading this Vol. I should've picked up on it where the anime ended so I guess there were some spoilers as well :( and this isn't really a review or anything I'm just blabbing about it.... hheeeh.. wutever!

It’s a competition-type thing & the prize is that the winner can get a Host Club member to do whatever they want & different clubs & people from the school all join in hopes of getting a Host Club member to help their clubs or something of the sort - so the first task they set Tamaki on is the Which One is Hikaru Game after a long time & ofc Tamaki knows right off the bat - next is picking ingredients for a curry & then more tasks to get more and more ingredients - & Tamaki realizes the purpose of the game & asks whose idea it was & they tell him HAruhi’s & HE FINALLY REALIZES THAT HE LOVES HER & THAT HE’S BEEN IN LOVE WITH HER A LONG TIME NOW!!!! <3 <# OMG OMG OMG THIS IS EPIC FOR TAMAKI!! & he flashbacks to all those times he kept insisting he was her Daddy & how he kept feeling attracted to her but tried to deny it, saying it’s because i’m her father so it’s ok & that it’s natural & so on - & he realizes he didn’t want to face things because he didn’t want to get hurt nor hurt anyone else…
Next task: defeat Mori’s game-moro tells him someone once told Honey that real strength is being honest to yourself & that that’s when he, Mori, also decided to trust that person (Tamaki said that ofc) & even Mori can’t win his game so he lets Tamaki pass - next is Kyoya’s crossword - the point of it all is to get Kanoya to spit out her feelings & get her to react to her situation, so to speak & stop being all numb to what’s going on - last task: Haruhi’s mouth of truth; 4 things she’ll ask him & if he lies, the mouth swallows ur hand & u lose - Kanoya fails on Q4 when asked if she was sad about leaving her father - & Haruhi yells at Tamaki about it; that he’s been twisting them all around, scared of hurting them but they know his habits, good & bad & that they still want to be together! & Tamaki realizes he was just scared of losing these precious friends <3 Tamaki also talks to Hikaru & tells him that he, too, loves HAruhi & he’s back to his old self; full of energy but he also knows the meaning of love now - then he goes to see Haruhi & he’s freaking out, wondering what she thinks of him & can’t even get his thoughts together; he’s simultaneously happy & embarrassed HAHAH SO CUTE OMG <3
BUT BY THE TIME THE CLUB’S MEETING HAS ROLLED AROUND, HE’S BACK O NTRACK, ENVISIONING MARRIED LIFE WITH HARUHI & HE’S GOING TO FIGHT FOR HER LOVE AS A MAN & HAS NO QUALMS GOING AGAINST HIKARU!! & he wants to visit her father to pay his respects LOL -Haruhi’s birthday is the following week, so it means war between Tamaki & Hikaru finding the perfect present for her - but also, Kyoya lets the Host Club know about the lawyer of Tamaki’s & her suspicious meetings with the Suoh family head - they have to host the winners of the competition, these 2 girls & Tamaki & the twins annoy Haruhi to the point where she yells at them all to GTFO - & THAT BITCH LAWYER CAME TO SEE RANKA, HARUHI’S DAD, TO TELL HIM THAT HARUHI SHOULD LEAVE OURAN & NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THE SUOH FAMILY ANY FURTHER - OFC THAT WHORY GRANDMOTHER IS BEHIND THIS - & for Haruhi’s birthday, Hikaru & Tamaki both end up getting her a rice water machine thing & she likes Kasanoda's gift, a mushroom kit thing LOL
Side story: how Haruhi’s parents met - Ranka was 19, she was 25, a newly hired lawyer - & isn’t he just the charmer :P & he’s super friendly & walks her home and stuff but it’s because eh wants to protect her if one of the ppl from her last case came after her & some girl did & he’s awed by her coolness & asks her to marry him & they do - took 2 months only LOL
Side story: Kanazuki, the black magic club member, is trying to ask Honey on a date but is too nervous - or it’s that she’s in love - & Honey’s aware but he thinks it’s cute - so she eventually asks him to eat popcorn at the movies with her & he calls her out on it :P <3 how cute!!
More & Honey are graduating that year OMGGG :( HOW CAN THEY LEAVE THE HOST CLUB - NEKOZAWA’S GRADUATING TOO LOL & KANAZUKI WILL BE THE NEW PRES - & Honey’s going into the Science & Technology faculty & might end up having a Toy factory while Mori’s going into philosophy of law OMG THE HOST CLUB CAN’T BELIEVE THE DUO IS GOING TO SPLIT OMG :O :O LIKE WHAAAAT - the Club is more shocked than Mori & Honey LOL - but Mori’s younger brother says Mori’s not happy about separating form Honey; that their family decided but Mori says it’s his own choice - & Kyoya also realizes that if Honey wants to get into development then Mori getting into law makes sense so he can support him later- all that makes sense, but Mori’s so distracted & acting strange…
And it doesn’t hit them lil he loses a karate match against a first year because he’s so distracted - Honey confronts him, all serious, asking what’s going on & Mori says he’ll tell him but first, he wants a match against Honey !!! OMG :O :O :O :O WHAT IS THISSSSS?!?!

  • Mady

    I missed these idiots!

  • nicky

a little slower than the last couple volumes, but still super cute and funny!

  • Sam

This volume had my shaking, crying and throwing up. Please Tamaki and Haru are so fucking cute I love them with my entire soul 😭

  • Beckyjmcc

    *:・゚✧(ꈍᴗꈍ)✧・゚:*
Mori had a lot of dialogue in this volume.

I'm not ready to say goodbye to him or Hunny ◎(╥ꞈ╥)◎

  • Deji

    - " Esa chica... ¿Te gusta?"
    - "Sí. Y probablemente me gusta desde hace mucho."

    Oh my...

Gah - I love how the club have worked together to not only get Tamaki out of his slump but also to help Kanoya. It amuses me that they didn't win even with things so much in their favour, but it's also nice to see that the general school members enjoyed it as well. Seeing Haruhi do things for Tamaki, when we know she hates running, is just so sweet. It makes you want them to realise their feelings so much sooner - but the way the first chapter ends is enough for now.

It's amusing that as soon as Tamaki actually verbalises his feelings to someone he reverts to his usual self in that he fails to think things through. I guess it is some sort of safety mechanism for him really. But I do feel for Hikaru during this arc. The backstory of Haruhi's birthday isn't really needed I feel - except to also emphasise that the series is drawing to a close. We've had at least three spring celebrations since the series began so in reality none of them would still be in Ouran but in this volume we have the first canon birthday and Mori and Hunny (whose name I spell wrong all the time!) acknowledge they will, finally, be graduating.

Hearing that they are going to be separating is interesting but at least as far as this volume goes I wish more focus was put on Tamaki and Haruhi. However given we have the evil lawyer lady go to Renka and advise that Haruhi not only leave Ouran but not be friends with Tamaki anymore I know we will be getting some more of them very shortly. Plus, there are only three volumes left and so much left to resolve in that time!!

  • Natalie

Technically, I read all this on the monthly release, but there is nothing as priceless as Tamaki's COMPLETE AND UTTER OVERREACTION to his final realization about his feelings for Haruhi. It's a beautiful thing!

I guess the family drama is going to be in the next tanko... do I sense an end to Ouran in the future????!

  • Miss Ryoko

Yes!! Finally - back to the shenanigans and silliness!! I was super happy! This volume returned to the whole reason I was pulled into this series. All the silly craziness was back and I was laughing my arse off! Good times.

But also, still Team Kaoru. Just Saiyan.

Loved it! Loved the way Tamaki behaves after his EPIC realization!....!

Haruhi has come up with a game to help the obsessed Megumi and Tamaki. Meanwhile Tamaki comes to a very startling realization - he loves Haruhi!

Of course, that got a big *SQUEE* out of me. I mean, we've known from Volume 1 that's where it would all end, but to see Tamaki finally realize it....my heart was so happy.

Tamaki, of course, determines that Haruhi must be absolutely in love with him too (which she is, but of course, she doesn't want Tamaki to know that!) He is hilariously dispelled of that notion.

Kosaka, the lawyer, is obviously up to mischief. She visits Haruhi's father and recommends that he remove Haruhi from Ouran.

Meanwhile, Mori and Hunny are preparing for graduation and college, but they also decide to have a duel!

Perfectly, lovely in every way, as usual. I was having a really bad day and the only thing that calmed me down was reading a couple volumes of Host Club. Thank you Bisco Hatori!

★ Due to the fact that I'm only two volumes away from the end, I will be writing more full forged reviews on these precious Ouran mangas. They may, or may not be, long yet it'll be more than most of my Ouran reviews.

♡ Can't we just.....compliment the cover first? Oh lord~ though Kyoya isn't wearing anything particularly "host-club" wealthy, he is just looking so mmmmmm causal.

    — The art pretty much stays the same for Ouran, with Hatori's amazing talents.
    But each time, more improved.
    — Here, Kyoya starts suspecting that a lawyer friend of the Suoh family has been acting in an abnormal manner, yet her motives are still hidden in this Volume.
    — We enjoy new goofy ahh Tamaki with his "I've been redefined by love (for Haruhi)!
♡ Haruhi is still confused for her feelings towards Tamaki. Which, is super cute.

❀ Okay, so......Mori and Hunny are now graduating (so is everyone else, but Mori and Hunny are moving on to university), yet they won't be exactly together. They'll be in different departments, hence not meeting up as much. The book ends with Mori challenging Hunny on a match of kendo, which, as the host club is and the whole school, I'm shocked to read.

☂ In the end, I believe the beginning of the end is coming up beautifully like puzzle pieces. Can't wait for Volume 16!!

  • Carina

Again, this is a bit of a lack lustre volume of Ouran (at least this read through, last time I gave it 5 stars so...). The orienteering event is rather amusing - I like that Tamaki does kind of work out BOTH of the Host Clubs secret plans and not just the one to help the young lady, but apart from some more emotional growth from him not a lot really happens here.

The revelations about the lawyer (and her saying Haruhi does not belong at Ouran) felt very late stage to be of any true consequence, and the 'games' between Hikaru and Tamaki to prove they love Haruhi best feel very juvenile for the people they have become, like they have regressed back to the start of the series.

I did find the in world jokes about the third years FINALLY graduating amusing, especially given how in the early books the manga-ka would ask readers to ignore those aspects. I am intrigued by the Honey v Mori conflict, though at present it does still feel a bit out of character for them both.

So with 3 volumes left I am hoping this series picks back up in a big way!

  • Isabella

we're getting to the final parts of ouran and i'm hust so happy and feeling nostalgic. i keep comparing how every character was in the beginning and how much they're changed now.

Also, there was a bonus chapter featuring that girl who has a crush on honey and omg, was it cute!

  • Kelsey Hanson

Wow. There was a lot of new developments in this volume. I feel like this is one of the instances where I am not familiar enough with Japanese culture to grasp some of the moments in this volume. I had never heard of the rally before (also curry seems to come up a lot in the manga that I read. Now I feel oddly compelled to try it). But anyway, it's about time Tamaki worked out his feelings, it was getting exhausting. Tamaki is a strange character. I'm entertained by him, but I can't help but feel that I would be the one smacking him over the head repetitively if I knew him in person. It was a particularly evil cliffhanger to end on and I'm curious to see how the "fight" between Honey and Mori will end. It does feel like the series is beginning to wind down and it will be interesting to see how everything wraps up.

  • Sabrina

    * Spoilers*

Tamaki has realized his feelings and automatically sees reason that Haruhi would be in love with him too. However, he never asks her pr tells her of his feelings so though he is correct, he has not hear it from her. Of course, she does not know his feelings either. Hikaru and Tamaki are now up against one another to try and win Haurhi's affection. However, that is not the focus of the episodes (even though I wish it would hurry up and get there). There are intrigues on the Suoh family lawyer and what her actions mean as well as what is going on. Haruhi notices Tamaki's different behavior and reacts rudely, she realizes toward the end.., maybe she will change it so Tamaki will not get the wrong idea. The last episodes focus on Mori and Hunny graduating. Mori is affected but we are not sure what he is not saying..., hopefully the next volume will clear it up!

  • Kayla

    4 stars.

Of course when Tamaki finally realizes his feelings, he become 5000x more hyper and obnoxious. Lol. Seeing Hikaru and him act so petty about Haruhi with everyone just watching was so funny. I'm curious when Haruhi will finally confess her feelings to him as well. I took so many screenshots of this volume. So much was done so well and got me in the heart or made me bust up laughing. Also, Honey is really harsh sometime omg (which Mori and with the girl that likes him) It's weird seeing that side of him since he mostly feels like an 7 year old. Also the fact that Mori and Honey are both graduating and will have to leave and study in different departments.... ouch. I'm not ready to deal with this series ending. I love literally all of them so much with my entire heart and get so happy reading each volume, but now I'm realizing how close I am to the end and it makes me sad.

  • Eden

Of course, being an Ouran volume, this was good. I really liked how the whole Host Club gets together to help Tamaki deal with his emotions in a roundabout way. I’m glad we get some closure with the whole kidnapping storyline, and I thought it was interesting how Hunny and Mori are FINALLY graduating. (I love the inconsistency in the seasons/years tbh ^.^ It cracks me up.)

There was just some oomph missing. It didn’t make me laugh like the others and I’m getting a bit bored with the “Tamaki and Haruhi know their feelings but aren’t confident enough to share them” storyline. Unfortunately (there only being 3 volumes left), I think their feelings are going to be stretched out to the very end.
