My clan of wolf shifters wanted me dead for being born a girl... but I didn’t just survive but also met someone that felt like family.

That someone was a boy in the orphanage I grew up in.
I never could have imagined that I’d meet Derek again...
His innocent eyes had a lot of pain in them after all those years.
Perhaps that was the reason I didn’t recognize him at first.

It didn’t matter what my heart felt for him.
I had to keep myself from Derek... at all costs.
There was no way he could find out my real identity.
Derek was human, and I was not.
That was the only fact I needed to remember, especially now that I had hired him as my employee.

But the heart never listens to reason.
One single night changed everything.
The bad boy that I’d been in love with was hiding a secret of his own.
And he was the only one that could make my body shiver with pleasure.

The dream that I’d started living in wasn’t real.
Danger was chasing us... and Derek became the only one that could save my entire world.

Each book in this sexy-as-sin series can each be read as standalones, and has no cliffhangers, but are best read in order.

I guess shifter romance isn't for me, because I didn't really get it tbh.

I found the story to be slow, and I wanted more explanations about the characters and their abilities but we didn't get much. It was fine, nothing groundbreaking for me.

Louisa and her seven "sisters" grew up together in a little orphanage in a small valley in the Appalachian Mountains. All eight of them had a secret that the woman who raised them had insisted they must keep hidden for their own safety. Millie had loved her girls and when she died she left them the house they had grown up in. The women had turned their home into a bed and breakfast that was thriving but was also a lot of work. They were taking some time off between the summer and fall bookings. Only Louisa, Jolene, and Yvette were staying local for the break, everyone else was off on adventures.

Louisa reminded the other two women that they really needed to hire a handyman to do the little repairs around the place that none of them could do. Hoping to get someone local, she put up a notice at the grocery store in Hogan Falls. While doing her shopping, she ran into a man that set her magic to sparking. He looked so familiar but she couldn't place him. When he turned up later inquiring about the handyman position, she reluctantly agreed to show him around the place. She was worried about the way her magic went haywire when he was near...

Derek had come back to Hogan Falls after his release from prison, hoping to find the peace he'd known when he was at the local orphanage as a child. He had been adopted and that had turned out to be the worst thing that could have happened. He had resented and blamed Milie for years, but he knew it wasn't her fault. Some of his happiest memories were from when she had cared for him and though he knew she was gone, he still hoped being back here would remind him of better times. When he ran into a woman at the grocery store that aroused his magic, he couldn't get it out of his head that he knew her somehow.

Millie Hogan runs an orphanage in Hogan Falls. Some of the girls that are there in the same age group are: Louisa, Penny, Jolene, Shelby, Darby, Felicia, Erin and Yvette. They were the last she accepted into the orphanage because of a huge secret. When they turned 12, she began to tell them of why they were in the orphanage.

After Millie’s death, the orphanage was left to the 8 women, and they turned it into their home and a bed and breakfast. It had been open now for three years. They are on holiday and are trying to find someone to take care of the stuck doors, problems with the roof etc. Derek Stevens has returned to late to see Millie. But he is drawn to the B and B after seeing the For hire sign and Louisa at the grocery store. He too has a past, but Millie didn’t know about it like she did about the girls.

Each woman is in charge of different things and they work so well together and consider each other family. Derek and Louisa are drawn to each other. This is a great beginning of a new series. I loved it and can’t wait to see what happens next.

This book gets a 3.5 for me. I enjoyed the summary and the cover looked awesome. I felt like it had a lot of potential and it just fell short for me. Others might think it’s better or worse but for me it was kinda disappointing.

I felt like it was kinda jumping all over the place, from their first meeting, to falling in love, to her clan, and then to a wedding. It was so fast paced it fell flat bc it didn’t allow the story to flow together as well. Now don’t get me wrong I’m a sucker for a love story whether it’s love at first sight or a slow build up and tho this was like a love at first sight kinda thing it didn’t really feel natural.

Also ik it was only like maybe 200 pages so it wouldn’t have been a very intricate and detailed story but I’ve read many books the same length that gave me more.

All in all it was an okay book and hopefully this author keeps writing bc I feel like there’s great story ideas there and to another reader don’t just take my review for it, if this book is up your alley give it a try yourself, who knows you could love it where I didn’t.

    Revealing Secrets . . .

An orphanage in Hogan Falls saved the lives of a group of babies whose shifter clans were going to kill them off as too many females were being born. Now adults, the woman have turned the orphanage into a Bed & Breakfast, but they need a handyman to repair the old building. Derek Stevens, who was also at the orphanage but left when he was adopted, applied for the job.

Louisa feels herself react to Derek and decides she needs to keep her distance so he won’t find out her secret. But Derek is attracted to her as well, and he has his own secret to keep. And when a man from Louisa’s clan comes looking for her, telling her the clan who had tried to kill her when she was born is demanding she come “home” now and perform her “duty” to the clan, Derek doesn’t hesitate to step up and protect her from the danger he threatens. Will they be able to keep her old clan away from her? Or do they have one more idea that might keep them all safe?

This is the first book in the new series The Clan of Hogan Falls. Louisa and her friends inherit the orphanage they grew up in and turned it into a bed and breakfast. Millie raised the eight girls when they were rejected as babies by their various clans. Louisa is very serious, tending to be the stick in the mud and the bossy one. She also suppresses her wolf rarely letting her out. Derek made some bad decisions when he was younger that ended with him in prison. He's in town to reminisce and make some decisions on his future. Louisa and Derek's attraction is stronger than they've ever felt before but the old clans are coming for Louisa and her sisters. Great start to the series, steamy, can't wait for the next book.

Great start to a new series! Louisa, along with her 7 orphaned sisters are wolf shifters who are hiding from their clans. Derek was an orphan who was adopted out when he was younger and didn’t know he was a wolf shifter. Louisa and Derek use to have breakfast together when they were younger, and both had a little crush on the other and didn’t know each other’s secret. When Derek returns as an adult, things heat up between them once they realize they knew each other back then.

Lots of action, revelations, secrets, passion, and obstacles. What happens when the clan comes looking for Louisa? Will Derek and her sisters be able to save her from going back to a place they were supposed to be killed? Looking forward to reading more from this series. Derek returns

First book in this series much more original then most wolf supernatural storylines, but was a little slow in telling and could of been much better with all the lovely sister like characters should of been more banter and funny girl talk.I'm guessing Bob and his men might be love interest for the lady's that's why they never meet in this book (Bob is taken) we only meet Bob in this one and a cameo in wolf form from the men.(that was funny)
Loved derek, I do think the titles of these books are not great should of been something like, the return of derek, the beginning of Hogan falls or new clan.
I did find one thing odd ok they kind of explains you need a married couple to form a clan well the beginning away. But all the girls was a pack maybe not a clan because no alpha yet but they was still a pack of wolves.under the Hogan falls.

Louise and some other girls were raised in an orphanage by Millie. When she passed, they took they place over and run it as a B&B. Derek is a shifter and was at the orphanage Millie ran when he was younger. He is just out of jail and returns to town and sees that flyer for a carpenter needed. He applies and sparks fly between him and Louise. However, trouble comes in the form of the people that had wanted Louise dead when she was a kid. Will she be able to keep them out of her life? Will something more develop between her and Derek?

This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

    Ok Story

This novella or short story is about Louisa and Derek, who met at a store. Both were in the same orphanage but barely remember each other. This book explores a rekindled love trope.
Halfway through the book and there is still no real action or problems besides the stating of female shifters not being wanted. By the end, we see a possible upcoming problem with her old clan. The only solution is to start a new clan. Kind of miffed that they dont state that there is a mating bond between the wolves, only the fact that there is magic around..... I guess that is the authors' take on the soul mate thing for wolves. The ending was very anticlimactic, and I can only hope the next books have more substance to them.

What a great story! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book about Louisa and Derek, who are wolf shifters. Derek has had a hard life, and now he is finally free to return back to where he grew up in the orphanage, only to discover that the orphanage is now Bed and Breakfast, which is run by Louisa and seven other women who had also grown up in the orphanage. This story is how Louisa comes to grips with her inner magic and how Derek helps her to have fun, and to also recognise that he is her fated mate and to form the clan of Hogan Falls, there is a happily ever after for this lovely couple.

This is part one of The Clan of Hogan Falls series. From the start, your attention is drawn to the story of Louisa and Derek. Louisa has a secret and is on the run and hiding because she doesn't want them to find out who she is and the secret of what she really is. She meets Derek and the attraction is there between them, but there are also a lot of things going on in the background. As you read, you hope that they can be together and that he will stay when he finds out who or what she is. A nice story this.

  • WILMA from the Netherlands

This is a wonderfull written start to this series. It tells the story of Louisa and Derek who lived together in the orphanage and see each other again years later. Louisa and her friends, who also grew up in the orphanage, have turned the orphanage into a B&B and are looking for a handyman. Derek is looking for a new job.... How a new clan arises tells this story. I'm not going to say anything else, just read it. It's a great story with a lot of unconditional friendship, love and unexpected twists. I loved it and hope to read the next book soon.

Who is Millie Hogan? Where is she from? What if anything does she do for work? Who are Louisa, Jolene, Shelby, Darby, Penny, Felicia, Erin, and Yvette? How do they all know one another? Who is Derek? How does he know Millie? What has his life been like? Where do we find him now? Oh, how the sparks fly about 1/4 of the way into the book. Things got really tense when a strange man showed up with something for Louisa. What did he want? What do we learn from Ben about all the ladies? Enjoy the read and the teaser into book two. Really fun start to a new series!

  • Manda

Serena writes beautiful, engrossing love stories with depth.

This is Louisa and Derek's story, both of whom have a secret. Louisa has resigned herself to a life running the Bed and Breakfast she set up with her childhood friends. Derek has come back to resolve his issues with the past. The attraction between the two is instantaneous and completely compelling.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next in the series.

    Strong female characters

This is a shifter story with a difference, and I am here for the "girl power" vibe! The storyline is well-imagined but a bit slow to start. Louisa's character is defined so well that her final decisions are a foregone conclusion. Derek is a good mate, and their partnership makes sense; also, the full-circle feel for his circumstances is satisfying. I'm encouraged to read Book Two!
