Riley Angelica is moving forward with her life, so she's made herself a promise: no romantic entanglements with police officers. Thanks to her late husband, she and her twins have been down that road before.

So what does she do with Scott Emerson? She's known her husband's partner for years. But never like this. He's at her house, in her kitchen, with her kids...with her. In fact, it seems her self-appointed guardian is a part of her daily existence. She's starting to see him in a new light--a very appealing, good-looking light. And of any man, she suspects he might be the one to make her break that promise.

Her Husband's Partner Reviews

It was sweet. It was definitely a classic Super Romance, though I did like the mystery as well. Really good story.

I love the end with the two rings for his girls and the pocket knife for his boy. That was seriously the sweetest thing of all!

Good story. I was afraid Riley would hook up with Scott too soon after her husband's death but she didn't. I loath the stories where the protagonists fall in love mere months after the "tragedy" of their significant other's demise. This author let Riley mourn, let her recover and grow, let her start anew and get stronger with time. I appreciated that immensely.

Scott was divine. He was sweet and protective. His lack of family but obvious commitment to Riley and the Angelica family made him so dear to me.

Nice read. The heroine has moved back home with her sons after some time away to recover from her police officer husband's death. His partner is there to help her get set up back in the family home, and in any other way needed. He's a good guy, always has been, but she's noticing new things about him. It's a good "friends to lovers" story with a mild suspense element. I liked it.

My grade: C. This book seemed a bit slow. The hero kept going over the same issues in his head over and over again. Yet we really didn't get deep into the character to find out exactly who he was and why. We were given teasers and one "why" was revealed at the end, but it was way too little. The secondary plot of the dirty cops didn't really engage me and I never really understood why the antagonist put the heroine in danger. I liked Scott and Riley and her kids and the extended family. I just didn't deep enough into them. Some of the issues were resolved by a mere summation in the epilogue. This was my second Jeanie London book. I liked the previous one much more.

"This is the second book in the multiauthor continuity More Than Friends. This is a book with a lot of suspense and action as the heroine struggles to bring up her twins and to realize she is falling in love again..." from a review posted by an eHarlequin.com member. To read more go

    Extra 1/2 star.

I didn't not enjoy it, per se...I just found the handling of the characters' problems, and the way they overcame them, too simplistic.

  • Alice

Good enjoyable romance with a some mystery.

It was a quick read, okay - not earth shattering
