Fair Game (Read-it! Readers, Character Education, Green Level) Reviews

No more or less what I expected. It fills a need if you want to talk to a group about sportsmanship but it really did not blow me away. Like I said it was ok but not the bees knees or anything. Grades 1+

1. No awards
2. 1st to 2nd grade
3. Fair Game tells the story of three friends, Ty, Diego and Chris playing basketball. When one day a boy named Jude asks to play with them. Jude comes up with nicknames for each of them which they found funny and loved. After a few days they didn’t want to play with him anymore because he kept fouling. In the end, they let Jude play with them again and taught him how to play defense the right way. They even give him a nickname “Fair Game!”
4. This book was super cute because it shows the importance of giving people another chance and asking why rather than assuming. It had a super happy ending that brought a smile to my face. The illustrations are watercolors and depict each character’s emotions really well.
5. Importance of second chances, writing prompt: What would you do if you were Jude?
