Grimm Fairy Tales: Tales from Wonderland vol 3 Reviews

Verhalen zitten al iets beter in elkaar. Jammer dat alles door elkaar loopt. Had mijnziens beter gekund. Niet mijn manier van lezen dit. Maar wel vette graphics!

This was another decent one, as we get some new info about characters backstories. Art is decent, if a bit fan service-ie.

At this point I was reading this volume just to finish the “Tales of” series. These short tales all connect to the main books, “Return/Beyond/Escape from Wonderland”.

They’re all back stories, preludes, fill ins, etc. Some are mildly interesting but if you’ve kept up with the series you’ll be somewhat burnt out from all the jumping back and forth in the timeline. You’ll see countless “Editors Notes” telling you to refer to a previous issue to get a grip on things just Incase you don’t know what the hell is going on. It’s not that things are complicated or require some thinking, not at all, it’s just that the writing is all over the place that you’ll need to possibly construct a little timeline just to get things straight. But that’s too much work, these tales don’t warrant that type of effort. Skip this volume, skip them all.

I really wish my library system had more of these. I really like this series, but there are so damn many its hard to figure out where to start.

Making the Alice in Wonderland tale into a contemporary nightmare with a psychotic twist wherein Alice is an adult, sexily drawn, and the Chesire Cat is so jacked he'd make Brock Lesnar look like a kitten seemed like it'd be sick. But the writing is incredibly poor and absurdly repetitive. And the illustrations are super inconsistent as well. I thought this would be a cool Adult Spin but instead, with all its horrible One-Liners and Extra Gratuitous Gore, it's an EdgeLord's wet dream.

I love the premise but the execution was bad at best. Whoever does Quality Control at Grimm Fairy Tales isn't getting it right. Maybe it's the Mad Hatter.

Its really hard to make sense of anything in there. All the stories refer to others in other volumes that I didnt read. It was all over the place. Wont pick up the rest.

    Amazing and gruesome :)
