The fortunate women of Please, Sir are not docile pushovers by any means. They make the rules and negotiate with their masters -- though sometimes they also get off on being pushed just a little too far by men they know they can trust. It's as if the doms who enter their lives see the potential for submission in these women and want to arouse them more than ever before by providing an opportunity for them to let go. The editor of the bestsellers He's on Top and Yes, Sir, Rachel Kramer Bussel has chosen 22 stories that celebrate the thrill of submission by women who know exactly what they want. The characters in Please, Sir may be doing the bidding of their dominants, but the tops are just as much subject to the will of their subs, in their own way, by making them ache, moan, and quiver. With stories by Shanna Germain, Elizabeth Coldwell, Alison Tyler, and more.

Experience the Breathtaking Thrills of Sexual Submission

From spanking to bondage, punishment to service, Please, Sir takes BDSM erotica to a new level with these explosive stories of female submissives and their male dominants. Featuring a kinky Krav Maga master, a brat who gets what is coming to her, and much more, these stories explore enticing territory that will make your heart race. Spend "A Night at the Opera" and visit a "Masochist on Vacation," as eager couples play with power and get off on it every step of the way. The damsels in Please, Sir delight in the pleasures of taking risks to be rewarded by the men who know their deepest desires. Find out why nothing is as hot as the power of the words "Please, Sir."

What Stephanie Thinks: With the exhilaration of the punishment embarking from a strong man's even stronger hand, Please, Sir will have readers squirming with desire and gasping for breath.

This is an anthology full of sweet girls who do naughty things. Girls who expect to be disciplined by their masters, and girls who enjoy it. They pout and bat their long eyelashes; "punish me?" they ask.

BDSM including male dominance is classic and sweepingly arousing. A dom who whips a girl one moment, then tenderly makes love to her the next, exalts a feeling of power, which ironically is in the hands of the submissive. On the psychological level, the power play that endures in each of these sizzling stories is both thrilling and touching. That there is a bond between two lovers so strong, pain and severe punishment strengthens, rather than fractures it, is wondrous to imagine.

Some of it is a bit too hardcore in this collection of erotica, though. I previously mentioned I liked the mind tease of BDSM, but was content leaving out the whips and chains part. This book swarms with the physical torture I try to stay away from -- the scenes are heavy, very heavy, and have me panting. In a way, this is a bit of a turn-off. I want to read about love and sex, not blood and urine!

Overall, Please, Sir is an exciting anthology unlike anything I've read before. I personally find myself slightly nauseated by the immutable rough and tumble of the sex and kink, but am sure some of you more mischievous folk will devour it exuberantly.

Stephanie Loves: "'Whatever is in you, whatever you're feeling -- feel it. Don't hide from it. Don't try to "beat" it. Be with it until you understand it, until you know where it comes from.' I frowned at the floor. 'Then it won't rule you anymore.'
I raised my eyes to his as he finished the sentence. Sweat dripped from my forehead onto my neck as my quick breaths punctuated the silence in the room.
'That's what power is,' Dominic said. 'It doesn't have anything to do with force or subjugation.'" -- from Emerald's "Power over Power".

Radical Rating: 6 hearts- Would recommend to people. ♥♥♥♥♥♥

This is the companion anthology to a book I previously reviewed,
    Yes, Sir
, also edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. Please, Sir is similar but there is a notable difference in the style of stories, and I found I liked it less than Yes, Sir.

A woman makes a bad joke about her husband at a party and must pay the price. Another discovers the power of her lover's choking hold on her neck. A woman's lust for her martial arts instructor leads to an exciting battle of power. Foreplay in public, at the opera. All kinds of sex and sexual play are on the table, and while some of the stories have great tension and interplay, some were more lacklustre.

These stories aren't porn: they aren't sex for the sake of sex. They all explore women and men's minds (but especially the former) and what makes us tick. They explore our darkest fantasies and liberate our desires. As Bussel puts it in her introduction:

If you ask me, submission is an art form. It requires dedication, focus, commitment and desire - and there’s no single way of doing it. It’s about unlocking something within yourself so you can reach beyond your normal limits, exposing your body and soul in order to go somewhere you cannot get to alone.

That's what I love about erotica, that psychological aspect, but I'm less keen when the writing gets too artsy-farty, as a couple of these stories did. I don't think of erotica as the kind of genre in which you want to play with experimental prose styles. It's just too distracting, detracting.

Of the 22 stories in this collection, the majority are nicely kinky, fun and thrilling. Some of them stand out, like the one about the woman who's fitted with a dog collar and leash - and nothing else - and taken for a walk in the park. Exhibitionism makes me cringe, but the story was fun despite it. There's great variety here, but not too many stand out in my memory, and they seemed somehow less than the first volume, Yes, Sir. A good read, but a bit forgettable.

I love compilation books - different viewpoints, different styles. This one is great! I hid it from my mom and my kids - my mom, because I didn't feel like letting her read it before I was done, and my kids because I didn't want to answer any questions. Loved it!

I always enjoy the collections that Rachel Krammer Bussel puts together and this one is no exception. She has such a talent for gathering a great mix of writing styles from talented authors. It's amazing how the basic premise of sub/dom can be expressed in so many different ways. As with all erotica, there are levels of 'hotness' with these stories, some being much more charged than others. But all are enjoyable takes on the experience. "Please, Sir" is not for everyone; those who aren't into kink or submission won't get much out of this (they should definitely check out other RKB collections as an alternative though). But for those into the kinkier side of life, this is a great collection of stories that will provide more than a bit of a turn on.

This series of short stories was okay. Some of them pretty hot and steamy. Some were not to my liking. Heavy BDSM is not of interest to me but toes in the water works for me ;) Who doesn't like a good spanking once in a while? :P Choking during sex and public humiliation just not my thing. Some of the stories seemed a bit made up or maybe embellished on.

  • Terri

Another hot collection of stories - fortunate women indeed! Bravo RKB, keep up the great work!

  • Meagan

3.5. I liked more stories than I didn’t, which is really the best anyone can say about an erotica anthology; I think. Haha.

I once volunteered as an extra in a
photo shoot with the model on the cover,
Mischa. I'm a fan of hers, and I always liked the stuff from the old nerve.com so I gave this a shot.

Damn awful. Although to be honest, I didn't make it past the second short story. My wife and I tried reading it together. I read one aloud, she read one. Somehow it seemed somewhat entertaining when you were the listener, but it was painful to read.

The best erotic literature is first and foremost literature. The only acceptable difference is that when the sex scenes start it doesn't shy away from the details. This was just crap.

Skip this and just reload the
    Fifty Shades Generator based on
Fifty Shades of Grey (which I hear is also crap but the random passage generator is hilarious in a scatological way).

I bought this book at Borders over Fall Break. I don't like it as much as the other erotic anthology (also of female submissives/male dominants) I have. I suppose it's really up to personal taste. A lot of the stories have some really good stories or things I like, but then a single word, or a sudden act can make me go "urgh" and shut down my mood. Some things I'm not into: scatplay, golden showers, licking boots/feet (part of that I believe is the Asian in me), role-playing as a dog/pet, literally being someone's servant outside the bedroom (like a housekeeper); words that don't work for me: cunt, dick, slit, hole... But if I skim over parts I don't like in a particular story, it works. Though there are also entire stories that revolve around an act I'm not interested in so those weren't so fun to read...

  • Pixie

I liked this book, but I think maybe it does make it better if someone reads this to you. The book was given to me as a gift & the person would call me once a week and read me a story. I never read one on my own. I adored this book…but maybe it was having the person read it to me.

A year later a friend of mine married a girl who had been a virgin until they got married (32 year old virgin can you imagine). She had some hang ups. I got them two copies, told them to read a story to each other every night. Supposedly it worked wonders. I do think it’s a good beginners book.

    Gloriosoooooo

  • Pamster

Did you know that all tops have piercing eyes? None of them have the eyes of a dullard.

  • Jennifer

If you want fifty shades type lit without the phase "inner goddess" repeated a million times read this.

  • Lisa Levitt

Not impressed with this anthology as a whole. I liked a few of the individual stories.

  • Debo

    I mean, this was something.
The rating is a classic anthology rating, because to nobody's surprise there are very different approaches to the topic of female submissives in this book and as per usual I didn't like all of them. Some were pretty far off from sexy to me, some were really sensual and some didn't affect me whichever way. As far as kinks go, the diversity is pretty solid. As far as other diversities go, there was a vast spectrum of ages, but ONE which had a gender dysphoric Black MC and sadly that was it. I especially missed a f/f perspective. I suppose CWs for a SM anthology won't be a surprise and I hope nobody picks this up without being sure they can vibe with that. The most relationships depicted here really go for the punishment/discipline, humiliation and force aspect, this isn't simple bondage content, so be aware that there's consensual (!) physical abuse between adults. (From choking to spanking to flogging to caning to submission of bodily autonomy)

Some are great, some not so much.

  • Dax

Definitely a bit too much for a few stories. If you are interested in a bit rougher and darker erotica that messes with edge play, and delves into the master/slave dichotomy then this will be a great read for you!

  • Charity

Definatly a range of master/slave. A few were pretty hard core for me - not all about sex but about control.
