"Kaminsky makes flyfishing sound like a form of sanctifying grace, and his writing style is as lyrical and lovely as his sport." --Pat Conroy The Moon Pulled Up an Acre of Bass is the story of a man's love affair with Montauk in the fall, after the crowds and celebrities have left eastern Long Island. Now in paperback, this is the story of an ocean teeming with life, and the people drawn to obsessed anglers, jealous guides, dedicated scientists, and the local people who have lived off the bounty of these waters for generations. But above all it is a story of a man's basic love of people and nature, one that will appeal to the many fans of Kaminsky's "Outdoors" column in the New York Times , his frequent work in Food & Wine , and anyone hungering for fine writing.

The Moon Pulled Up an Acre of Bass: A Flyrodder's Odyssey Reviews

  • Geoff Balme

Another on my pops favorite books. Written in the 90s and impossibly rich with excellent fishing experiences it makes one both long for and jealous of the life that could be. A fishing beach bum like those I visit with when I drive home in the fall. Parts of the narrative become a bit like a training manual but that is the nerdy aficionados end of tails. They all must point you to furthering your skills and experiences.

It was nicely written but could have used more of a thematic storyline to tie all the different fishing episodes together.
