The Teduray (once known as Tiruray) live on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, and speak a language that is part of the Malayo-Polynesian (Austronesian) family. Their language and culture were studied by the author in 1966-67. This Lexicon contains over 6000 entries, mostly word bases, and includes a key to pronunciation and a representative sample of personal and place names. While the grammar of Teduray has not yet been worked out, the English glosses are cast to reflect the general usage of the term. The assistance of Mamerto Martin, one of the author's field assistants, was so substantial and invaluable, that he should properly have been named as a co-author.
