Perhaps you can recall a time when you felt more alive than at any other moment—when you had a sudden recognition of beauty, a feeling of deep contentment, and a sense of connection with life greater than you had ever thought possible. And then, this fleeting moment was gone. What if you could recapture that remarkable opening, and make it a consistent way of living in the world?

Course objectives:

Practice using your inner body as an anchor to the "Now"—realizing the gift of full attention, and cultivating moments of pure awareness through the simple act of noticing.
• Discuss the authentic grace, original innocence, the liberation of laughter, and nature as a bridge to the divine—available to us all.
• Define "awakening", discover how to dissolve your pain-body with the light of consciousness and why creativity and healing can come only from presence.
• Explain why "the teacher" is always within you and how to enter the "Now" through the portal called "allow."
• Describe how to find peace that underlies loss.
• Summarize how to catch your reactive thoughts before they catch you, and how to expand the space between your thoughts for a deeper experience of the "Now."
Throughout Europe and North America, a man named Eckhart Tolle has emerged as a teacher with the unique ability to draw us into the awakened state he calls presence. With Realizing the Power of Now: An In-Depth Retreat with Eckhart Tolle, you have an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the timeless dimension—a place within us that always is and ever will be beyond the turmoil of life, a world of calm beyond words, of joy that has no opposite.

Return to Presence Again and Again

A walk in nature. A personal crisis. A moment of laughter. These can all serve as portals that take us to the depth and wonder of the Now. But how do we access these portals so that we dwell in presence more and more often? With Tolle's guidance, you will discover many simple ways to leave behind the chaos and suffering of the mind-made world, and enter this state of serenity and grace.

On Realizing the Power of Now, Eckhart will show you how to go beyond the endless stream of thoughts, and simply allow whatever is happening to occur; how to use sense perceptions and your inner body to find a peace that exists independent of conditions; and how to see past the "little me" and my story, and find your home in the living Now.

Realizing the Power of Now: An In-Depth Retreat with Eckhart Tolle Reviews

I read about half of The Power of Now, and knew there was an enormous amount of wisdom in it, but found it a bit hard going at point. Then I saw this audiobook, and listened to a bit and was hooked. It's generally wonderful, and by far the easiest to 'get' material on mindfulness I've come across. (Not that my experience is that great, admittedly.) Instead of saying how many minutes a day one should sit in this type of position and so on, Tolle gently points out how daft the manner in which we all spend virtually our every waking moment is, and offers an alternative. If I hadn't read the forward to The Power of Now, it might have seemed as if Tolle were laughing at people for being depressed, but knowing that he'd been depressed to the point of being suicidal made all the difference. He's certainly able to laugh at himself, which is a wonderful thing.

One for listening to in bits and pieces over and over.

A very powerful book focused on practicing mindfulness and learning how to be happy with your life. I read this at a time when I needed it most, and I will remember its lessons for the rest of my life.

Only reason I didn't give it five stars was how it seemed to shift back-and-forth between helpful material and New Age rhetoric. I'm not afraid to admit that sometimes I simply did not understand what the author was trying to convey.

Deep dive into why it's so much more empowering to shift from object consciousness living to space consciousness living. To lose the idea, that we have to do, become something, before we can be us.
For some people its their illnesses, that make them free and have the power to awaken them.
One powerful question: what is so important to me, that I give it the power to make me unhappy?
And we don't have to add labels to emotions and feelings, we can just notice them and let them be - it's just energy flowing in our bodies.

These guideposts lead to a very real truth. Eckhart Tolle's message never gets old.

All we have is the present moment, but we are always regretting our past or worrying about our future. I loved this book, because I found out that Ho'oponopono brings us back to the present, moment by moment.

    Audiobook review:
Walk through a door and above the door is a sign that says “Allow”. Be in that space, even in the painful moments. “Space” is without thought, it’s between, not a location or event but a non-event—the now. In the now, in space, is awareness and freedom. “Thinking will be there when you need it”, said Mr. Tolle.

That’s my summary of the first 2 chapters—probably the whole book. The objective of the book is apparently to help readers be free from the tyranny of thought and worry—an idea I can get behind!

According to a brief statement, the audiobook was recorded at a retreat live. I get the sense that the print book is a transcription of the retreat sessions.

Mr. Tolle has a methodical way of speaking. He doesn’t say much, but he used a lot of words. His ideas are simple but profound concepts. He’s trying to express a state that is separate from things and words; something that can’t be defined and summarized; it’s impossible to be exact. So it seems to take lots of words to get close. Interestingly, I found that the way he spoke helped me experience a sort of “now”. He helped me to slow down and listen and relax. He even has a sense of humor which the retreat attendees (and I) appreciated.

After 2 partial chapters, I think I got the book and didn’t need to finish. I believe in God so I would add that the true sense of now and awareness is in communion with the capital “G” God (not the universe or myself)—an other that loves me and is healing me and helping me grow to be like Him. However in spite of the differences between the book’s premise and my beliefs, I was able to benefit from what I heard and leave the rest.

not for first timers. you are better off reading an eckhart tolle book or two first. this is good for a sort of revision or whenever you are losing it and need another dose of the tolle drug. this doesn't work all that well as an audio book. i'd sooner get it directly from an audio rendering of one of his books. the long silences are okay in a retreat. but not packaged together in an audio book. i know this is contrary to the teaching, but you really do need the essence of it and the long gaps in the audio don't serve you too well in the middle of traffic or a workday situation, when you do need to listen to something to calm those frayed nerves down! and it didn't work for me, all that well. hence.

  • Mary Montgomery

Audio book. Definitely not for listening to in the car! Didn't get far because it did not mesh with my belief system. It's divided into chapters and I may have liked some of them. Presented as a series of chapters from a seminar given by the author. The man has a meditation voice and tone.

  • Con

Classic Eckhart. So great to listen to this book over and over, great encouragement to understand how important it is to live now. now. now.
Not what may be, or what was...as then we live in our minds. The freedom of living in this moment is glorious!

  • Debra Weisberg

This audio book came to me right when I needed it after several months of anxiety.

  • Carol

Very wordy and repetitive. Perhaps I wasn't in the mood...show me the condensed version!

  • Karie Rogers

I found this book a little odd. I just didn’t get it but maybe it’s just me. Yes calming voice and good audio but i think it must have gone over my head!

  • Alaura

I listened to the audio book and I could not finish it because the individual doing the voice was creepy in his presentation and I felt like Charles Mason was telling how to meditate.

  • Gladys

Presence is Key. Now is the Key.

  • Oguzhan Cebe

Yet another book on mindfulness blended with new age spirituality.

  • Talar

    Life changing!! Reading again.

  • David Franklin

If you like his teachings, you will like this book. Start with the power of now, if you are not familiar with his philosophy.

  • Clayton Chase

Continued admiration for Tolle’s approach to mindfulness, awareness, the power of now and his gentle, wise, and humorous nature while doing so.

  • McKayla

    I loved this book!
