"I am so frightened I may . . . disappoint you." He pulled her closer to him.
"Do you think I want you to know anything but what I shall teach you?" he asked. "I adore your ignorance, your purity."
He spoke with a fervor she had never heard be-fore.
"I was the first man who had ever kissed you. I shall also be the only man, and the last."
Benedicta gazed at him in awe.
"How could there be anyone else but you?" she asked wonderingly.
Very tenderly the Duke looked down into her eyes.
"You are mine," he said.
He kissed her until he could feel her soft and pliant against him, until his lips had awakened in her the first flickering flames of desire .. .
The Duke and the Preacher's Daughter Reviews
-
Of course I had to read this book. Most people hate Barbara Cartland. Her heroines appear breathless and needy all the time, but I still love them. They're always clean and the good girl always turns the bad boy into a sweetheart. And, being a preacher's daughter, this was very romantic. Bryan still thinks I want a Duke.

For a time back in the 80’s & 90’s, my reading material of choice was frequently bodice rippers, historical fiction, and regency romances with a few contemporary best sellers thrown in for good measure. Most of them were pretty steamy (blush) &/or overly romantic, but I read them during a time in my life when I found myself as a single parent, and these books fit the bill. I found them to be highly entertaining.
I recently donated a slew of them, but I wanted to catalog them all the same. So if there is no rating here from me, it means that I don’t remember anything about the book other than I obviously read it. If there is a rating, it must have been in some way memorable for me.
I only wish that GoodReads had been around years ago so that I had some idea of the many books I have read – there were thousands! I did own a copy of this book, but most others came from the library because back then I could never have afforded the 100+ books I generally read in any given year.
And by the way, I still read bodice rippers – just not quite so many as I used to! -
so... once upon a time... -
entah apa asiknya serial barbara cartland, haha,. inti ceritanya sama semua, cuma setting lokasi ma status tokohnya doang yang berbeda.

I remember reading this book and thinking that it was pretty improbable.

This is the sort of romance book that I like reading.
-
Like all Barbara Cartland books, The Duke and the Preacher's daughter is shallow, unoriginal, and not particularly well written. It's one quality is its predictability. Thus, it does the job.

Well, I'm not really a fan of the old kind of romance books so I didn't have high hopes for this book. It also being short - only 150 pages or whatever, meant that there wasn't enough room for good character development or understanding the depths of their characters. I also couldn't stand the FMC as she always - talked - like this. Not sure why the author did this, but it made reading her feel very stilted and took you out of the book many times.

The last page, boring as fuck. The rest of the book, not bad. I only read this because my mum gave it to me and told me to read it, but it was not bad, I mean for being a romance book. It was entertaining and chill. Not bad

As always Cartland's books never disappoint me, this one delivered adventure and romance! I'm looking forward to read more of her books.
