When the littlest dinosaur goes out exploring one day, he only wants to play leapfrog with the frogs and chase the butterflies through the meadows. But when he gets lost in the dark woods, all he can think about is getting home again. Summoning all of his courage is difficult, but when he finds a small pterodactyl also lost in the woods, the littlest dinosaur finds that he is brave enough to get them home safely.

The Littlest Dinosaur's Big Adventure Reviews

  • Anna

    Nice premise, but mostly forgettable.

  • Renee

This was a good book. I shows how thinks are not always good in the world and the unknown can be scary. It shows how important it is to have courage, also.

  • Jessica

This series is so cute! I love the littlest dinosaur. He is enjoying being little and playing with butterflies when he winds up in the woods meeting another little scared dinosaur. This is such a sweet book, the characters are wonderful and I love the illustrations.

  • Anna

PRECIOUS! I love this little dinosaur so much. He is the absolute cutest. Lovely illustrations and story.

  • Elena Maddox

Great for story time. Pre-K or outreach.

  • Sarah Newman

3.5 stars - this is very sweet, and the smol loves it, much to her father's dismay, as it is on rotation about 10 times a day at the moment.

Children's books seem to be fitting into particular categories for me at the moment... ones I love and would read a million times and still not get bored with them, ones that are cutesy and very run of the mill, ones that have poor story lines and bore me to tears.

This one is cutesy with a poor story. Yes. My four year old daughter (and many, many others in this age group) loves dinosaurs and that is what drew her to this one in the first place but seriously. The story was so freakin' cutesy pie. Ugh. The characterisation of the littlest dinosaur was weak and I truly couldn't have cared if he had got lost in the forest.

In fact I reckon there are a billion other books out there that discuss bravery that would be far better than this one. Hopefully with dinosaurs.

I'll let you know when I find one.

This is quite cute. He gets lost because he is playing with frogs and dancing with butterflies. The illustrations were lovely but something feels like it was missing. I can't put my finger on it but there is a magic that seemed to be missing from this, that the other children's books that I collect seem to have.

A little dinosaurs goes to a different land with small creatures so that he will fit in and she finds another small dinosaur too. He realizes he would rather be home and go back to his parents. This book tells children that it is okay to be small! I would read this book during free time.

  • Kelly

Illustrated by the author. Using pictures to describe the text, this is a truly average story. It is kind of unremarkable. I wouldn't use it for storytime though because it gets "dark" and a little long-winded at the same time.

  • Dolly

Adorable illustrations and an ending that lends itself to bedtime reading combine to make this a fun book to read aloud. Our girls enjoyed the story.

  • Breanna

This book is pretty good. It is a sequal and I have not read the original. It is a cute story about being brave no matter how little you are, but it's a little bit draggy at times.

  • Dee-Ann

Cute story, and it had some suspense, but it did not hold my son's attention, proabably because he was tired.

  • Kasper

"Oh no," thought the littlest dinosaur. "It's not fun being small in the dark. But I have the heart of a dinosaur, so I can be brave. If I walk back the way I came, I will find my way out of here."

  • Tina

It was an OK book considering I was reading this to see if it was OK for my 5yr old son. It's fine.

  • Pali

B found it boring and not funny at all
