Spring Melt (Keystone Chapbook Series, #4) Reviews
-
Subdued in its portrayal of the Pennsylvania seasonality of floods and harsh winters, this quiet little collection of poems resonates with my memories of my childhood and adolescence in the Susquehanna Valley. Favorite poems: "The Boys" (about boys flying down a hill on their dirt bikes), "Sledding in the Cemetery," "Spring Melt" (about the slow and painful endings of relationships and the desire to hold on), and "Lament for Pluto" (a humorous and thoughtful goodbye to the long-loved planet).

I have enjoyed all of the chapbooks found in the Keystone Chapbook series, but Katherine Bode-Long's Spring Melt is my favorite! Set against the backdrop of central Pennsylvania, the poems in this first chapbook collection are simply beautiful.
