Criminologist Miguel Acevedo had come face-to-face with his biggest challenge - Emma Richardson, guardian to a newborn baby and admitted psychic. The Native American beauty claimed to have information that could bring down a notorious criminal, but Miguel wasn't about to buy into her "abilities" so fast. Before long, though, Emma's leads attracted a killer and Miguel became her bodyguard. Now, as he watched her with the innocent baby and became captivated by her blue gaze, Miguel sensed his ordered world tilting on its axis. First he'd gone from skeptic to believer. Could the switch from confirmed bachelor to family man be far behind?
Criminally Handsome (Kenner County Crime Unit, #4) Reviews

Fourth book in Harlequin Intrigue's "Kenner County Crime Unit" multi-author mini-series. I liked this one for the most part, though it wasn't perfect.
Criminally Handsome continues the tale of murder in the Four Corners area of Colorado where a female FBI agent was murdered and a mob boss on the run suspected for the death. Authorities in the area are also trying to find a missing woman, Aspen Meadows, whose car was found abandoned with her infant son inside.
Emma Richardson, Aspen's cousin, has taken over guardianship of the baby but refuses to believe her cousin is dead. Emma is a medium who can talk with the dead and everything they've been telling her leads her to believe Aspen is still out there somewhere. So Emma teams up with forensics expert Miguel Acevedo to track down leads arising from her visions. Unfortunately, their investigating brings a killer after Emma and Miguel becomes her bodyguard. Despite Miguel's initial distrust of her "gift," the two connect quickly and passion arises. But first they must figure out what Emma's visions are telling them.
Interesting addition to the series. It brings some paranormal into things but stills comes across as believable. I liked the sort of quirky, off-beat feel to the book. It gave the book a different vibe and added some variety compared to the other books. And I thought the storyline was interesting and fit well with all that was going on in the series.
I did think the romance was a little...hmm...I want to say "abrupt," but I'm not sure that's right. Maybe "forced" is better. There was just something about the passionate side of the relationship that lacked that sort of sweet fluidity and instead felt a bit forced. At least to me. But I did still enjoy both Miguel and Emma...even if Emma did have an utterly TSTL moment at the end of the book.
As for the whole issue of inconsistencies between books in this series. There was only one glaring mistake that I noticed. And that was Patrick and Bree being referred to as currently engaged...they got married in book 2!! Oops! That was the only major issue I noticed. Though I did find it bizarre that Emma and other minor characters in the book seemed to know nothing about the murder of Julie (the FBI agent) when it was previously mad out to be such a big thing that the media was all over and whatnot. They shouldn't have been so clueless.
So all around a fairly good book. I liked it almost as much as book 3 and I'm looking forward to book 5, which is about Miguel's twin brother Dylan and Aspen. -
Criminally Handsome

Series Note: The fourth book in the Kenner County Crime Unit series. Each book is written by a different author, but the ongoing story arc requires reading in order.
In this installment, Emma Richardson, a psychic medium and cousin to the missing woman from book #2 is paired with forensic scientist Miguel Avecado when Emma's visions lead to new evidence in the case of murdered FBI agent, Julie Granger.
This is the first time paranormal elements were included in the series and it feels out of place mainly due to the fact that the series has focused on forensics and science up until now.
Emma and Miguel's romance is also weak. They are complete opposites not only in terms of the occupations but in personality as well and they are not a good match for one another. Not only does their relationship feel forced but neither one is particularly likable. Miguel is consistently snarky about Emma's abilites, which she seems to find endearing but is in fact condescending. Emma comes across as naive and childish, and she has a huge TSTL moment at the end.
Thankfully, there developments in the ongoing story arc, which has been languishing over the last couple of books.
Dylan and Aspen's book is next and I'm hoping that it will be better. -
Another winning installment in the "Kenner County Crime Unit"; one of the better series coming out of Harlequin Intrigue this year.
I enjoy the different cultures portrayed and the police procedures that is presented adds a touch of reality to these books. I really enjoy romantic/suspense when there is the spice of the paranormal; especially if it is used lightly and precisely by a talented author like Cassie Miles. -
I have really enjoyed the Kenner County Crime Unit Series so far. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I can’t wait to see how it ends. Each book has had good action, and suspense, with romance. I’ve always steered clear of books about people who could talk to the dead. I took a chance and gave this book a try. I’m glad I did. I loved it. Emma could speak to some ghost. It helped with solving some crimes when she worked with the Police department. Throughout the book she was trying to find her cousin that went missing. I loved her Grandma. Her grandma would just appear and give her advice, some helpful, and some made me laugh. This was a really good book.

Another book in the Kenner County Crime Unit series that continues the story of a murder and the investigation of it. This is the story of Miguel & Emma. It was very interesting.

Well…it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t memorable either. A safely middle-ground, well-paced story with a paranormal twist of the heroine seeing and talking to the dead.
The characters were nice, the romance was nice, and the suspense wasn’t that bad either. Pity it’s part of a (multi-author) series. The loose ends didn’t work well for me. -
The author of this title is an RMFW member. For that reason, we do not rate these selections. We’re kind of biased. However, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have them on our shelves. And you’ll see this message on any other titles that come from our members. We do hope that you’ll consider reading it, though. ;)

Loved it! I enjoy being able to pick up a good book and zip through it. Started right off with mystery. Entertaining.

This book kept me on edge from the very start and loved the fact that when she saw ghosts and could hear them I coulden't put the book down
