In the latest literary guide from Herb Lester, we chart 42 locations from the life and work of Douglas Adams. Although best known as author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy" of five books, in which much of the action happens several hyperspace jumps from the debris of the earth, his work is peppered with London locations, and the city was his home for decades.

From Shepherds Bush to Highgate, we tour streets that Adams knew and cared about, unhappily noting the rampant development of Islington—"Grim concrete monoliths, eyeing the new spaces in Upper Street where they hoped to spawn their horrid progeny"—and the timeless joy of Hyde Park—"Hyde Park is stunning. Everything about it is stunning except for the rubbish on Monday mornings."

Using all of his books, biographies and fresh research, this guide offers a glimpse of the city through the eyes of a much-missed author.

I am so excited to get this map into the hands of every Douglas Adams fan! Whether local or international, whether you're heading to London now or dreaming of a literary pilgrimage someday, you will enjoy the beautiful illustrations, descriptions, and trivia included in this guide.

It has been years since I did my first forty-two places pilgrimage, visiting 42 places in Douglas Adams novels, over 42 days, for my 42nd "answer" birthday. My dream to guide fellow fans to the places I visited has come true with the publication of this map!

Even better: it has been a joy to partner with the editors at Herb Lester Associates and be a contributor to their array of artistic guides to the usual and unusual. I hope you will read and let this new guide connect you to Douglas Adams' London in a whole new way.

The 42 places are described with details, trivia, and interesting facts that make me want to buy a ticket and go to London to experience it all myself. This map belongs in any Douglas Adams fan's library. I may have to buy another one, so I can frame both sides to hang next to my towel!

H2G2 is my go-to self-care book for those times when I'm feeling blue or a bit lonely. So, you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon this self-guided literary tour that allowed me to connect with my all-time favorite novel in such a unique way. Although I haven't had the chance to embark on the full tour just yet, this guide has already prepared me for my future trips to London. The guide's design is top-notch, featuring adorable representations of the book's beloved characters. I even plan on framing it and using it as a world map of sorts, marking off the areas I've visited. I just have to give a big shout-out to the author and publisher for making travel so darn fun!
