I wanted to LOVE it.My husband and I met over a decade ago online in a videogame, so when I read the blurb, of course I picked this for my First Read. The premise was adorable and the characters had so much promise. Sadly, the writing was often pure cringe whenever anything involving the internet came up (the writing tries too hard to be cool and hip even though the references date the author and it felt very Hello Fellow Kids), though from the other parts of the book, Yardley is not a terrible writer. The latter half of the book was much better when it is taken offline. The characters are a tad one dimensional. Main female lead annoyed me as much as the competition. Main male character was better written and had the most nuanced story. Still loved how the book ended since I'm a sucker for meet cute. I think it's worth a read for fun, but sadly this isn't one of those can't-put-it-down stories.
