My students loved this book! They got to make lots of decisions along the way to see what would happen next. The book illustrates the hard choices people had to make during this difficult time in history. Be aware that two of the endings result in people dying, including a baby.

Have you ever wondered what life would have been like in the 1930s? What if you lived on a farm in the Great Plains... Durring the 1930s there was a massive drought in the Great Plains and a farmer you would have to make some tough choices about whether to stay on your farm and ride out the drought or if you should pack up your family and move to a city. What would you do? In this book you get to call the shots! What happens to your farm and your family is up to you. Do you stay on your farm; and if you do can you grow any crops or will you try your hand a ranching? But don’t forget about those dust storms! They can come up out of no where and make it impossible for you to see and hard for you to breath. The choice is yours!

I would recommend this book to third graders and up with an interest in history and adventure.

book is The Dust Bowl by Allison Lassie. This book is about one man survive at the Dust Bowl. In this book he don't have work so he try to get job form California. I don't have favorite part of this book but I have my most exited part in this book. My most exited part in this book is a when he try to get job but he can't get job. Also he can't find hotels so he try to go back kansas but he find camping zone and he meet lot people from dust bowl. I think he try to tell life is unfair and helping. I want help them when I found tame.

I connect this book with some people is mean to me but always some one kind to me. I leaned how awful is Dust Bowl and I leaned why so many people die in California.I recommended this book because this book is tell me what happen in the Dust Bowl and I can be main character.

This book really illuminates a time period in history that both myself and my kids were not informed about. The Great Depression is next on my list to read to them, and I may have to go back and read The Grapes of Wrath again with new eyes. My high school aged self may not have given it the credit it was due.
