Now I've been taken to a demiplane between worlds where Dracula rules supreme, and all he wants is to... start a school for vampires?
It turns out the next generation of vampire is built differently, and I'm in on the ground floor of that new enterprise. What's more, I have a unique suite of abilities that helps me further stand out from the crowd. So much, in fact, that I've started attracting the attention of very interesting people. These monster hybrid vampires include my teacher, my childhood friend, an old bully of mine, and Dracula's socially awkward daughter. That isn't counting the two bloodthralls I've taken.
If I'm doing this, I'm doing it right. I'm going to work hard, study harder, and play the hardest, making the best out of my new life. Nosferatu Academy, here I come.
Content Warning: Nosferatu Academy contains themes that are common in dark fantasy, including scenes of violence, romance, and light horror elements. But this is NOT a horror novel. It is a humorous fantasy story with an ambitious, dominant male lead. Just be warned: as a vampire novel, there is a bit of blood here and there.

all reviews in one place:
night mode reading;

About the Book: Barrett lived a normal life. The only thing that wasn’t per se normal were those vague, fleeting memories of a school or a camp… And a girl he had severe crush on. The same one who, all grown up now, has just knocked on his door, demanding answers. Realizing he had none, Demonica (really) makes a judgement call and kidnaps him, whisking Barrett away to a demiplane, where she turns him into a vampire despite the rumors of consequences. And so Barrett’s normal life has ended. Now he’s in an academy with a bunch of other vampires, ran by Dracula himself.
My Opinion: I don’t quite understand how even the straight vampires and other supernaturals, with fangs and biting, can still have such vanilla interactions. Guess the NSFW part of this book wasn’t for me, which is bad, because the rest of it barely had anything left. World building is poor, and characters are extremely two-dimensional. The good stuff that pulled this book through for me was the humor, and the, so to speak, adults in the room, Dracula and those he invited to host this academy. They had personalities, and cracked jokes. Oh, and despite quite a few mentions of HP, it doesn’t seem like author supports that franchise. If he doesn’t, all the more respect to him. -
superb!! but trigger warnings
Okay, let’s get the trigger warnings out of the way first….if you’re super religious or get offended easy skip this book, especially if you’re a Christian. Now, there are other triggers in this book and it has to do with Demonika, Eliza and Maria… and what they are to Barrett and how they’re looked upon and treated… this may also offend to tender hearts… me being a Christian I had no issues, but also have an open mind and know this is just a book and it wasn’t truly “slanderous “ but it added depth and spice to the character building and background… now that I’ve done my due diligence and typed that let’s get into the meat and potatoes of this review. Virgil did a PHENOMENAL job on this book. Woooow is all I can say. The world building was insanely good and he actually used real people and events into the story that made things even more interesting…. This book also made me actually laugh out loud multiple times. I mean truly gut splitting laughter where I couldn’t control myself and just laughed joyously. I really like all of his harem, but for some reason Eliza and Marie are probably my favorites…. I love how they act hurt and whine and want to be babied but then in turn give affection back to Barrett. Those two are so cute. Mako is such a cute tsundere and Rhapsody is sooo cute as well… when she goes off on her “Daddy” tangents I just laugh… now brings us Demonika, I absolutely love and adore her. She’s the “wife” of the bunch… but Mrs Drake 🤤🤤 is right there beside her giving her a run for that title. I know next book she’s going to fall in line for sure…especially with Barrett’s “immunity” 😉. Virgil did such a good job with this book… to be honest, I think Damian is going to be a good friend… I think they started out as arch enemies then frienemies but I think they’ll end up as friends in the end. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. The cliffhanger was insane. This is the second series of Virgil’s that I’m reading and he’s extremely talented. Onward lads!! -
At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review
Genre: Vampire fantasy school harem romance slice of life
Power dynamics in harem: Everyone has strong opinions, but MC is the central character
Explicit/adult material: Explicit, hot. Vampires, humans and not-just-human vampires.
Summary:
For years growing up Barret Bradshaw always attended camp blackwood where he had his first crush. Demonica.
Before he knows it Demonica has him attending a magic academy for vampires in a house of hot and interesting girls that all seem to have a sweet eye for him.
Narrators
Voice diversity: Great. Every character has their own voices and are easy to recognise.
Pacing and intonation: Well done.
Sex scenes: Very well done.
Overall: 4.5 / 5 stars.
The book’s strengths.
- The writing. My wife kept asking why I was laughing all the time.
- The girls have agency and go for what they want. It is so nice to read harem stories where the girls are not just passive objects to conquer.
- The girls have personalities and flaws.
- The narration
The book’s weaknesses.
- I can't think of anything I would change.
Overall: 5/5 stars
One of the best harem books this year! -
Lighthearted and entertaining vampire romp
I finished Virgil Knightley‘s Nosferatu Academy audiobook. I’ve enjoyed some of Virgil’s other series - Incubus R.A. and Solar Dragons - quite a bit. I had pre-ordered this audiobook on that basis, although I ended up getting a free copy to review.
Nosferatu Academy lives up to the high standard of his other works. There is plenty of situational humor from newly minted vampires learning about their abilities, lore, and each other makes for a fun backdrop. There are plenty of quirky characters, including an ancient vampire headmaster who’s a little out of touch with pop culture.
The main character manages to be charming while a bit cocky. There are very endearing love interests. There’s not much harem building - it’s pretty obvious where things are going almost immediately - but the particulars are entertaining. Virgil does have a fascination with clingy women, which is on full display here. I find it a little exhausting at times, but it’s not too excessive.
All in all this is a great read. I’m definitely looking forward to the next audiobook coming out! -
Stupid and Immature
Let me tell it to you straight you write a book for males about a male becoming a vampire and having multiple women it is command but in the 1st few chapters you have the main female lead vampire Turn the vampire into a vampire and......Has a problem with being called master By the vampire who turns..... How stupid can you get what male would not want to be called master by beautiful woman who now has to obey any direct command. I mean what male will not want to be called master by a beautiful woman that has to obey him and let's be real you can't even write a male dominated novel without keeping..... Manhood whole but instead had to give it up in a cowardly way to give a nod to female empowerment or some stupid stuff like that I mean give me a break!
This novel is worthless I won't even be bothered to finish reading ITIT was that worthless and I certainly will not purchase the sequel.... -
I would've given this 5 stars, but there were a couple major issues. First, he treats the primary love interest, Demonika, very poorly. She's obviously obsessed with him but he denies and ignores her constantly, even going so far as to bed other women first despite Demonika making herself very clear. It bothers me because even the story premise is based around the MC's love for her, AND YET... Plus, all of this is acknowledged by the author but nothing is done about it until it's too late - the damage is done and now I have a sour taste in my mouth.
The second issue is the MC's attitude. He's an arrogant, horny brat. I think this might actually be the author's own limitation, in that he can't write an MC that is witty and charming - he's just a basic jerk that comes off quite cringey.
I still finished the book despite these glaring issues because the ideas were very fun, everyone except the MC was not bad, and there was some good humor to be found. -
Enjoyable but shallow
The first thing you'll probably notice if you've read my other reviews is that I actually finished this book. So that's definitely a mark of excellence in and of itself. If you've got similar tastes to myself then you'll enjoy this book.
The writing is adequate, despite the speech patterns of ancient beings sounding a tad too juvenile for my liking, and allowed you to lose yourself in the novel.
I enjoyed the light tone kept throughout the book, mostly because it was a breath of fresh air in the mire of tragic, angsty, dour and conflicted worlds that the fantasy genre seems to produce.
There was only the barest hint of a plot in this novel, the focus is instead on the MC interacting with his harem and finding out about the supernatural world he has now become a part of.
The harem and romance is heartwarming but shallow, three of the four (six really) female leads already have existing feelings for the MC and the last falls instantly in love. Suffice to say, there is very little wooing in this novel and instead the focus is on the consummation of the relationship. The problem with this approach is that there isn't any "will they, won't they" tension or any conflict really in the relationships to speak of.
Great popcorn fantasy reading. Mr. Knightley is quickly becoming someone I go to for a relaxing, good time. -
Humorous Dark Fantasy Fun
Great story that takes a hilarious twist on vampire/harem novella
Love the lore including some huge figures from history cleverly woven into this story
Sexy monster girls with some fantastic quirks that are cleverly interwoven into some funny scenarios.
The MC is given so much potential to grow and become truly powerful. I look forward to reading the next volume to see how his development with Dracula and his harem progress.
Some dark elements are nicely balanced out with humour and some raunchy interactions.
Great to see Virgil Knightley expanding his repertoire and flexing his writing chops.

Awesome book.
The main characters are lovable. The enemies are hateable, but not too much so it is all very lighthearted for the most part. If you like vampire books and academy books then I cant recommend this one enough! -
DNF
Its duet narration, dual POVs, first person, 2 narrators
I got 90 mins in and couldn't stand it anymore. Barrett is an idiot and Demonica is the dumbest person ever. This book is so immature and absolutely nothing happened in 90 mins but back and forth between these 2 brain Dead imbeciles -
Cute and fun
But not terribly serious. The characters are quite interesting. And the MC is definitely overpowered. But it's fun. I smiled pretty much through the entire book. -
Another fun story
Big fan of this author and loved this new series. Am already looking forward to the next book in the series.
