Vahana: Vehicles of the Gods Reviews

I have always loved reading true tales about our Ishwar which most conveniently have been fictionalised in the name of creative liberty. So when I come across this cute little book that talks about how different forms of our Bhagwan like Shivji , Vishnu ji , Brahma ji ,Laxmi Maata ,Durga Maata ,Ganesh ji etc got their Vahana , I couldn't stop picking it up.
The book enticingly narrates why Nandi ji always sits opposite to Mahadev facing him , how Ganpati ji got Mushak raja as his Vahan , how Durga Maa always appears sitting over their mount and so on . Also besides this it also tells some of their adventurous tales of fun when they are together.
The content of this work has been penned down in a beautiful manner and it has all the ingredients of becoming a best seller . Whether it is the interesting story telling skills which will attract not only the children but everyone in general , or the cute cover or the fascinating illustrations inside , it ticks all the boxes. Such books should be written more often as they not only strengthen the bond between parents and kids but also help in inculcating the right kind of cultural values since childhood. At a time when the young Hindu generation is going far from their Dharma , such books will only help them becoming more morally inclined in future.
A must read. Highly recommended. -
This is a collection of illustrated stories for children.
I am a huge fan of children's books. I loved this book!
First of all, the cover looks amazing!
There are fifteen stories and other information about the Gods and Goddesses. There are other fun activities included. This keeps the reader engaged. Children would love this book! Not only children, everyone would love this book irrespective of their age!
In the Introduction to the book, the author gives basic information about Gods and Goddesses.
What I loved most about the book is the writing style. It's so captivating.
I loved how the author compared Vishnu to the modern-day bosses😂😂.
There's a line in the book that goes like 'simple, yet so powerful.' This reminded me of the iconic dialogue in the movie Premam, 'Java is simple but powerful'😂.
Another thing I liked about the book is the message it gives, like the one against body shaming.
The illustrations are so good👏👏👏
Overall, it's a fun read! -
"Vahana" by Stuti Gupta is a short mythological book with cute goddess illustration. Goddess Lakshmi is organizing a race for all of the birds and animals, because she wanted to choose her vahana. All the Gods will take part in it Vishnu, Lakshmi, Durga, Brahma, Ganesha, Shiv all will chose their vahana in this race.
The book is short but brilliant read, that you don't wanna end this early. It's an perfect pick for everyone who is too much and deeply invested in saga's like this and their lesser known facts. The way writer has narrated this mythological character's story is pretty impressive. The cover of the book and page quality is hands down the best I have seen.
The stories are written in such an intresting way that even if I knew almost all stories I wasnt able to keep the book down . I loved the illustrations, colouring pages these made the book more and more amazing. The author has written the stories in such a manner that one feels engrossed like anything while reading it. Even though this book is mostly for kids, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the stories.
I recommend this book to every children as well as their parents too. In this generation of smart phone were mostly child spend their maximum time with phone this type of book is help in growing reading habbit of children. -
Vahana, vehicles of the Gods by Stuti Gupta is a beautifully illustrated mythology book for children. Mythology has always been a fascinating subject and the stories will forever evoke unique imagination in our minds. The diversity of these folklores attract the curious minds of children and their questions ultimately put parents in difficult situations. Moreover as time passes, the upcoming generations are blessed with the comfort of technologies and modern equipment. This leads to lots of difficulty in accepting these folktales for the kids as the Gods never used science in their daily lives. Hence, we need a different or modern approach towards storytelling. Stuti Gupta did an excellent job in this case and solved our issue. She wrote the book in such a way that it's easy, down to earth, yet fun at the same time. The illustrations have a modern cartoonish touch and the vibrant colors are bound to attract readers. It has many activities too! Join the dots, crosswords, color the picture- are few of them. The only thing that wasn't described well was the " Curse of Brahma''. Overall it's a beautiful creation well suited for children of 6-12 years of age. I will not be shocked if this also attracts elders.

I'm totally in love with this book!
I still love reading children's books and one glimpse at the cover left me mesmerised, so I couldn't help but pick this book up. Mythology has always been my absolute favourite genre and I simply couldn't resist a book filled with so many pictures and colours.
We all are very familiar with the mythological deities and their vehicles or mounts - commonly known as the 'Vahanas'. But not many of us know the back story of how the particular animals or creatures came to be the Vahanas of the respective Gods and Goddesses. Well this book perfectly throws light into the aspect through very cheerful storytelling.
The book is a collection of 15 stories about different Gods and Goddesses like, Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesha, Lakshmi, Durga and many more. My favourite piece is 'How Shiva met Nandi'.
The narration is absolutely enticing. The colourful pictures and illustrations have enhanced the charm of the book manifold. Not only this, the book consists of many fun filled activities too which are ideal for children.
My little niece is obsessed with this book.
Totally worth reading!!

Most of us know that Mushika , Nandi , , Garuda ,Owl etc are the vahanas of Gods like Ganesh , Shiv, Vishnu and Lakshmi respectively. But do we know how come these animals and birds particularly are associated each particular God? Each one of them has particularly rich story behind it.Read this book , written in a highly simple language and beautifully illustrated how Airawat elephant , the mount of Lord Indra born out of eggshells and was chosen by him .Find out that the mount of God Ganesh was actually a demon Gajamukhasura whom he defeated but in the end wanted to be ever near to him.
Though quite engrossing , it would have been better if in further editions , author take care of some irritants. Many places Gods have been addressed as Shivji however at others it is simply Shiva..The illustrations need to be better checked.Yamuna is depicted fairskinned while in actuality she is dark in colour, Similar is the case of Shani dev and Yamadev..
A good book and can be enjoyed by all. -

Mythological reads are always fascinating and magnificent one of its kind. Opening a totally new dimension beyond our knowledge. But as we know mythology is already a too vast concept to deal with, how can we cater the same in our little ones becomes a task.
This wonderful read named Vahana, Vehicles of the God,is written to serve readers of all age groups. Narrating about how the powerful God and Goddess got their own vehicles to commute and what adventure that have had.
The language used is easy and lucid. The cover of the book really took my heart away There's mixed emotions in the book. You will love the idea of the book and the young readers will love it.

I'm a fairly religious person. I wasn't raised one though. But I did grow up reading Hindu mythology so I found the stories relatable.
This is a children's book, and an awesome one too. I find Stuti's way of speaking/narration witty and charming.
We get to know about a lot of Hindu Gods and their mounts, some of which was utterly new to me.
This book is also very interactive and engaging. It literally has a life of its own.
Okay down to the juicy bits: did you know that Goddess Durga was born out of the energies of the trimurtis for the sole reason of ending evil that even the Holy Trinity couldn't. Also she has ten hands with ten weapons each.
There are SO MANY stories in this book, it's crazy if you pass on this for the sole reason of being stupid.

Mythology is a very interesting subject but when it comes to catering it for the young minds, the task seems a little tough.
