He's a dom with a bad history of relationships going sour because of his needs, so he's in no hurry to expose his private desires. He'd rather just enjoy the view. Lucky for him, his landlord Charles has a liking for mysterious parcels, and he's got the patience to wait to find the rose behind the thorns.
Black Leather Rose Reviews
-
John is a solitaire man. He has to live in a shared house to sustain his permanence in London, but he doesn't like to socialize. He has nothing against other people but he prefers to stay alone and mind his business.
After a bad experience with an homophobic landlord, he goes to live in a big victorian house. The new landlord, Charles, is a nice man, involved in politics, and with an open minded attitude. He doesn't mind that John is gay, not at all, he is bi. And in fact, he is quite attract from John, but he respects his privacy and for the first weeks he takes his hands afar.
But days pass and the attraction for John is growing. And one night he sets himself up to seduce his new lodger. But John has a little guilty secret (and another not so little...) and a Black Leather Rose will help Charles to literatelly unveal the multiple layers that wrap the real John.
A quite interesting and brief story. Maybe the two characters are worthy of something a little bit long: when I was at the climax of the story, it has ended! Jules Jones has an happy hand to decipt very complex but nice geeky characters: John will line up with the geeks of Syndacate and Buildup series.

An interestingly different BDSM story - I loved the fact John was quiet and secretive as it made the revelation of his sexual preferences much more of a surprise. However, it did distance me from him a little, preventing me from rating the story any higher. In terms of quality of writing, though, it's definitely top notch.

I'm not sure why this was tagged as BDSM because there wasn't a drop of it in the story. Yes, it hinted at the possibility but there was no BDSM content in it. The conflict at the beginning was the premise to the rest of the story. And it could have been a little better (the conflict, I mean). I liked how there was instant attraction between John and Charles but it wasn't insta-lust and it didn't just jump into it. There is definitely room to expand the story if the author wanted to, without losing the meaning behind it. Overall a good, quick read.
