Evan Henson, a Union battle-tested veteran of the Civil War, dismounted. He stood six-one and paused. “I am so sorry, Miss McLee. Your ma was one of the finest women the Good Lord ever put on this earth. You say it was Kreb who killed her, huh?”“Sure nuff,” Dory McLee confirmed.Evan exhaled deeply and turned around slowly shaking his head. “You know Alton Kreb. He has the most money of anyone in this territory and he ain’t about ready to go to the hoosegow on his own.”“That’s just too doggone bad,” Dory fired back. “He broke the law and now he’s gotta pay for it.”“You don’t understand. The man probably owns the sheriff over there in Junction County. Maybe a few of the judges also.”“Well, that is just tough, Mr. Henson. I’m going after him and there ain’t a thing you can do to stop me,” she decreed with fire in her eyes. “But there is something you can do.”“What’s that?” Evan wondered.“Make sure we have enough guns and ammunition to go after Kreb,” Dory vowed, and straightened up in her petticoat.Another classic western with respectful romance and women as strong frontier folk from author William Black. Each book in the Post-Civil War Western Justice series is a standalone story that can be read out of order.

Petticoats and Pistols (Post-Civil War Western Justice) Reviews

  • Bob

    An Introduction to Westerns

This book was written for a elementary age child, basically as an introduction to the Western genre.

The story was simple. There was to "cussin" or vulgar language. There were no errors in spelling nor any "misplaced predicates" (whatever that is) ;-), nor any other language problems.

  • Anthony R Woods

    Great story

Dory McKee was famous for be a woman who could out shoot, out ride any man around. Bad man killed her mom, and she went after him with her Best friend. It took them a while to get justice.

  • LUAYNE

    Excellent read

A young woman and her sister watch their die. The oldest of the sisters vows vengeance on the killer. Things really get complicated and twisted as the pursuit continues. Lots of action and a lot of killing.

  • Bill Lents

    Strong-willed and a crack shot......

The story of a young woman seeking justice for the death of her mother, and those who assisted her. Enjoy.
