This book is a great book to introduce culture diversity into a classroom. This book is about a little girl who lives with her mother and every Sunday her dad picks her up and they have a day to themselves. They do adventurous things together. This book has Spanish dialogue in it as well.

I enjoyed this book because it represented both city and country life. The main character of the story is a little girl and her uncle is a taxi driver. Every Sunday he comes and picks her up in his taxi and takes her somewhere. They live in a big city, but in this story her takes her to the country so you get to see both lifestyles. It was also nice because it represented a different culture. The little girl and her family are hispanic, so they use some Spanish words in combination with English words. A book like this might be really cool to read at a school like Parkwood with a high Hispanic ELL population. I think the kids would really enjoy the Spanish words, and it would give other children a taste of what another culture is like.

This book depicts the life of a young Hispanic girl who is growing up in a separated home. She admits to living two lives: one with papi and one with mama. The book centers around the young girl spending Sunday with her father and all the fun activities they get into on his day off work.
I would use this book to discuss language because a lot of Spanish is used and also to talk about any real-life connections that could be made to introduce a writing reflection.

BOR-ING! It is the winner of the Ezra Keats book award but YAWN city.
The book is too long and rather boring. The pictures are nice. It would be a nice book if you need to talk about parents who are divorced but I didn't see much to write home about. It throws in some Spanish words to make you feel warm and fuzzy about the culture of the characters . The book was perfectly fine but It wasn't amazing.

This book is about two hispanic families and how they live their lives. One is Tina and her mama, and the other is Tina and her papi. This is a great book to use to reach out to those students whose parents do not live together. It also uses quite a bit of Spanish!
