    ”Say yes, Dahlia.”

Imagine this, you tipsily confess your hot and heavy tree climbing feels for the star quarterback you’re crushing on at a party, someone films it, and it goes viral. Now, imagine all that and you’re usually a pretty reserved wallflower. Yeah. Welcome to Dahlia’s life.

All that said, now the hot QB, Felix wants to fake date to “help Dahlia break out of her shell and get past the backlash from the viral video,” yeah sure buddy. ANYWAY. I don’t want to say much more than that since we are getting into spoiler territory, but I adored this story. It’s fake romance gold. Felix is so sweet to Dahlia, but he also turns on the spicy swoon at the perfect times. For me Dahlia was incredibly relatable. I can be fun with my friends, but in a crowded room I’m a little more reserved. I love that she breaks out of her shell and lets the confidence she has inside of her shine. Plus, these two are just so cute together. It’s the mutual pinning for me if I’m honest. It takes it next level.

As per usual Jenshak provides that found family vibe that she does so well. Dahlia and the rest of the friends living in the wallflower house just give me life. I’ve already read Daisy and Violet’s stories, so it was fun getting little updates of them and seeing them still having that bond and closeness with Dahlia and Jane. There’s just something about them making each other a priority even though they are doing their own things and falling in love that adds something special to this series.

Anyway. Scoring the Player was college fake date perfection for me. I loved both Dahlia and Felix, and I thought their story was the perfect amounts of sweet, heat, and emotion.

i suddenly felt in the mood for all the giddiness that rebecca jenshak's books give me, so i picked this one for a little reread and i'm feeling all warm and happy again ♡

“To be clear,” he says as he brings his mouth closer. “This isn’t part of the Felix Walter’s experience.” “No?” “Uh- uh. This is the Dahlia Brady effect. Totally different thing. You drive me completely fucking crazy.”

Dahlia Brady is in her junior year at Valley University. She has a great group of friends, but she's been a bit of a wallflower since freshman year. It's the first week of school, and she's determined this year is going to be different. She's prepared to be spontaneous and step out of her comfort zone. She wants to go to parties, talk to guys, and not be awkward. She needs to stop waiting for life to happen and put herself out there more, but a viral video that was to be a private conversation between friends was not what she had in mind. Now everyone seems to know who she is and heard in detail how she wants to climb the QB of the Valley U football team like a tree. She's embarrassed and horrified her crush knows her most intimate thoughts about him. Felix Walters is every girl's fantasy. He's a a gorgeous senior, and the most popular athlete at Valley U. They share mutual friends, and every time he's near she freezes up and can hardly speak to him. Now she's in the spotlight and he wants her to be his fake girlfriend. Suddenly she's hanging out with the hottest guy on campus. As she gets to know him better pretending starts to feel real. Is it all for show, or is he actually into her?

Scoring the Player by Rebecca Jenshak is the third book in the Campus Wallflowers series. It's a slow burn, fake dating, friends to lovers, college sports romance full of amazing chemistry, flirty banter and delicious tension. I really love this seires and have been looking forward to Felix's story since the Holiday with the Players novellas about his sisters. Felix and Dahlia were perfect together! Now we just need a book for Jane! <333

A shy heroine and a kind hero, I'm sold!
Rebecca Jenshak delivered a nice, humorous and spicy novel, I didn't want to put down.

Scoring The Player brings us back to the Valley U campus, the parties, the hot jocks and the beautiful girls that capture their hearts.

Dahlia Brady is attracted to the famous quaterback Felix Walters, she never had the courage to talk to him, even when he tried to spark a conversation. But at the begin of the new academic year a video where Dahlia speaks highly and lustfully of Felix is posted on the net, and now she has to overcome her embarrassment and speak to him.

I loved every moment of Felix and Dahlia's story. I already knew I would have liked Dahlia, her timid personality is akin to mine. I felt bad for her misadventure, that put her on the spot, but I adored how Felix helped her, putting her at ease crowded party after crowded party. Felix surprised me, becoming my favourite hero of this series. He is a very sweet guy, he understands Dahlia and never push her to do something she isn't comfortable to do.

I've had a good time reading this book and I highly recommend it.

    5 Stars

I couldn’t wait for Felix and Dahlia’s book and it didn’t disappoint.

    What I loved:
    1. This girl group is top notch, one of my favorite friend groups. They completely support each other in all things.
    2. Felix is such a great mix of confident and sweet, and I love a football player hero.
    3. These two have such great chemistry. Normally I need a ton of conflict and angst, which is not a Jenshak thing normally (and it isn’t in this one either), but the banter and chemistry of her couples keeps me entertained. I always find I don’t miss it with her books.
    4. The conflict was perfect for them. No outside drama or people affecting them, just them needing to come to terms with some stuff.
    5. I loved the confidence he gave her and how she showed him he is so much more than a star football player.

I’m not sure I can make the claim I loved it more than Gavin and VI’s book but let’s just say it’s tied.

****if you love audio, check this out. It has amazing narrators. Definitely recommend it. I moved between ebook and audio because I didn’t want to stop reading when I had to do other things.

    🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

#Sidenote #FunFact: When the opportunity to listen & review this title came up, I was able to go back to the beginning of this series and #binge all three titles because of my Scribd subscription and it was delightful!! However, today is all about Felix & Dahlia so let’s chat about their awesomeness!

It has been a while since a New Adult series as a whole sucked me in as intensely as the Campus Wallflowers and I am giddy with excitement for more. That rarely happens with me so it’s worth noting! :)

Not only were Felix & Dahlia an easy couple to get lost in, but so was their storyline. I loved everything about it, from beginning to end! The set-up was beyond perfect especially for a ”wallflower” and I thought it was so genius that it elevated my respect for Rebecca Jenshak’s skills as a writer. My experience with her has been limited compared to her backlist, but thus far it has always been positive!

Entertaining, sweet, sexy, humorous, and so full of heart, it would be a shame for any reader to miss out on this story or this series! I find myself still smiling a week later writing this review! The secondary characters not only enhanced Felix & Dahlia’s journey, but they also enhanced the story as a whole. They added the proper comradery you should expect from a story/series with this type of trope and themes. Honestly, I could listen to it all over again and it’s only been a week! Of course, it helps that Jason Clarke & Erin Mallon are both fantastic narrators and quite good at bringing stories to life!

This was a 5+ STAR experience for me and I can’t wait for the next wallflower!

My favorite of the series (as of now)!!! 💕💖

Felix is the sweetest boyfriend (fake or otherwise), and Dahila is his perfect match. Our girl is shy at first but through time and experiences, she really comes out of her shell and shows the world how kickass she truly is.

Wow, didn’t realize Rebecca Jenshak’s new books are so filled with misogyny and sexism… another author to avoid in the future.

They were just… PERFECT!!! I love these two so much and I couldn’t get enough of them!! They’re just everything and more!! Definitely my fav couple in the series so far!!

Dahlia and Felix were just textbook perfect, I’m not even kidding!! Literally no flaws whatsoever and their love story had me hooked from beginning to end!! It was cute, funny, hot, tension filled, spicy and just in general incredible!!!

I’m literally so in love with Dahlia, it’s not even funny anymore!! I can relate to her on SO many levels, it’s crazy… She’s literally such a cutie pie and so so sweet but she also had an edge to her that made me adore her even more!!

Like the way she put this Bethany chick in her place?!?! SO FREAKING ICONIC!!!! As she should!!! This girls needed to get humbled and my girl Dahlia did just that!!

Not just Dahlia is amazing but (obviously) so is Felix! Felix is… JUST SO FUCKING DREAMY!!! Istg the men in this series just get better and better the more the series goes on!

Felix is definitely my fav out of all the Wallflower men. He was just so charming, respectful, sweet, intelligent and hot!! He’s fr my dream man, I’m not kidding. He’s the STANDARD!!!

Just as their relationship is the standard!! I want what they have!!! I mean the way they’re just so sweet and caring towards one another, supporting each other not matter what and making sure the other is always comfortable, WHILE they’re fake dating…. Is just everything to me!!! I want a relationship just like theirs…

The tension, chemistry and love between these two was just so endearing and there was most definitely never a moment where they didn’t have me all giddy, giggling and kicking my feet in the air!! Literally had my heart racing at SOOO many points throughout the book!!

What I also LOVED was how this bitch Bethany got put in her place!! Not just by Dahlia but also by Felix!! He wanted none of it!! She was just such a bitch and karma hit her perfectly!! It was so satisfying to read about!!

I’m also now even more excited about Jane’s book!! She was so feisty and badass in this book and love getting to know more about her!! Can’t wait for September!!!!

Overall, I love ending a month with a banger and this one definitely gave the month August justice!! This series is just perfect, makes me literally daydream about college hehe…

Im in a slump, but this book was genuinely 5 stars!!

I felt so connected with Dahlia, i felt like i was her reincarnation because i swear that we were the same

“Why this song? Are you a swiftie?”
    “Who isn’t?”

This was the moment I realised me and her were like this 🤞🤞

This is deffo my fav in the series, i loved the first one, especially because i have the same name as the female MC so it was easy to relate to it (ig). And i also loved the second one because i always had a soft spot for enemies to lovers. But this one was just pure beauty!!

I read the novellas about Holly and Stella during Xmas 2022 so i already knew about Felix, and in this book getting to know him better was amazing. I also loved getting more of my fav twins.

I felt such empathy for Felix, Bethany was a bitch and im so glad he got out of that relationship. When he said that he was not the right man for her but he sure as hell wished he was🥹 please im dead!!

The last thing I have to say is that today, i had 2 hours left in this book, it felt like it would take forever, i told myself that i could not go past 2:15am and i would read what i had left in the morning. Its currently 3:19am so take your conclusions.

    Read it NOW!!!

I really enjoyed reading this book, it’s my first one but definitely not the last from Rebecca Jenshak! 🌼

This was such a fun story and soo easy to read. It reminded me a bit of the Off-Campus series from Elle Kennedy that so many people love. If you love that series you should definitely read these books! 💕

I fell in love with the characters and the found family aspect was so good!!

The story starts with Dahlia, she was at a party with her friends and talked about her major crush on Felix Walters. She didn’t know it but the whole conversation got recorded and not long after that, it went viral. Felix has problems with his ex-girlfriend and that's why he wants to start an agreement with Dahlia that would benefit them both..

I liked the design aspect itn this book and Felix was such a perfect male character! ✨

Thank you to Valentine PR, Rebecca Jenshak and the publisher for providing me with this copy. All opinions are my own.

A perfectly paced fake dating college romance! The couple portrays a feel good connection that is read with so much ease. I was smiling, swooning, and laughing throughout it all.

Felix is the sweetest heartthrob and Dahlia is the type of heroine I’ll always have a special spot for – shy, sporty, & rambles like no tomorrow. 💗

Very cute and light read 🙌 the couple was not really something special, but i had a good reading experience nonetheless 😁

3.5 stars. Scoring the Player is part of Rebecca Jenshak’s Campus Wallflowers series and this one was so much fun! This is college sports romance (football), opposites attract, and fake dating.

Felix is their college team’s hottest quarterback player, and Dahlia has been crushing on him for quite some time. At a college party she is confessing her thoughts about Felix to her friends, but the next day realizes someone recorded it and the video has gone viral…meaning Felix knows all her feelings now too. The next day they get stuck in an elevator together and start talking. Felix says how fake dating might work for them since people are already talking about them together and his ex is causing him issues too.

I’ve realized I enjoy this author’s books more on audio and this one has two of my favorite audiobook narrators: Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon. This was a cute and fun new adult romance if you’re in the mood for a sportsy hero and a wallflower/shy, virgin heroine who has never even been kissed. The heroine is also on the school’s golf team and a fashion designer which added more to her character.

Rebecca Jenshak is quickly becoming one of my fave sports romance writers. This was a refreshing story that really had me hooked right from the start. There was nothing fake or forced in this fake relationship. The tension between them was palpable and deliciously electric right off the bat. I loved the characters and everything about this.

dahlia and felix were the absolute sweetest. i adored these two so much. their plot and their romance was so cute and fun. felix is the popular football player while dahlia is the shy golf player.

i freaking loved this book. the way that dahlia had always had a thing for felix but was too scared to talk to him, RELATABLE. and the popular boy / shy girl trope will ALWAYS do it for me! rebecca never fails and this one was definitely a 5/5🤍

  • cosette

I loved Felix and Dahlia, their relationship was really cute!

she was shy but outgoing at the same time and i kind of related with her 🤨

but i just felt there could’ve been more drama, there was a lot of potential with eddie

i would’ve enjoyed more jealousy from felix, HOWEVER THEY WERE REAALLY CUTE I LOVED THEM

  • yves

    Rebecca Jenshak never disappoints.

The story revolves around Dahlia, whose private conversation gets leaked, turning her secret crush into public knowledge. As a result, Dahlia finds herself in the centre of attention, which makes her a target on twitter for jokes and harassment.
As a naturally shy and introverted person myself, I was able to connect with Dahlia. Rebecca's portrayal of her emotions is pretty much relatable (and this is probably the 1st time I like the female protagonist more, lol).

Our wallflower heroine has a transformation as she navigates her newfound popularity and the chance to pretend to date Felix Walters, the hottest player at Valley U.
The fake relationship between the two characters adds layers of excitement and anticipation to the story.

The novel moves along at the ideal pace, with the right amount of heartwarming moments and worthy encounters to keep the reader interested.
Along with a sweet love story, Scoring the Player also explores themes of self-acceptance, overcoming insecurities, and finding the courage to be yourself.

Congratulations to Rebecca for delivering again a five star read.

  • Veronica Ticker

(audiobook+ebook) To this day, I haven’t been disappointed with any book by this author. Sure, sometimes they don’t work as well, but they’re always sweet and sexy reads. This one is way more than that.

We met Felix in the previous book–and saw him and his sisters in another series–and he’s always shown interest in Dahlia, the quiet one amongst the wallflower girls. His time to shine has come. He’s a jock, he’s popular, he’s a bit of a player since he broke up with his last girlfriend, but he’s also a great teammate and friend, and he’s nice to Dahlia.

Dahlia is also an athlete, a golf player, but also a fashion designer. Speaking to guys is difficult to her, and speaking to Felix is almost impossible. Besides their love for sports, they couldn’t be more different. So the trick for the author was to find some common ground, and she manages. Felix and Dahlia shares some experiences, but most importantly, Dahlia is being mildly bullied, and it strikes Felix’s protective streak. The solution? Starting a fake relationship, to keep her protected, and to help her with her social, and romantic, interactions.

I loved that they were fighting against their growing feelings–mostly attraction at first–while learning more about each other. You can actually see them fall in love, in a sense. They show each other sides they usually keep to themselves. They grow into themselves, until their relationship is said fake only because they decided to call it so. Because, frankly, they are a real couple almost from the beginning. It’s just that they need to become mature enough to accept it. This book is their journey.

While Felix’s changes are more subtle–mostly he learns that making his dreams come true doesn’t mean forgetting all other aspects of his life–Dahlia’s are spectacular. Felix’s praises, and her own accomplishments during their relationship, make her realize that she’s worth it, and she ends up standing up for herself. Dahlia claiming Felix was the hottest thing I’ve read in a while.

One of Dahlia’s changes is losing her virginity, and it’s a journey on its own. She has zero experience with boys, and her fake relationship with Felix soon becomes a teaching moment. And he’s respectful of her boundaries, which was sweet and swoony. It really was a cute couple.

The narration was pretty good. I wouldn’t have thought of a growly voice for Felix, but the male narrator manages to express the character’s more playful side too. As for the female narrator, she does the awkward girl like a champ.

    Quickie

    - Series: Campus wallflowers #3 (can be read as a standalone)
    - Hashtags: #sports romance #college romance #football #fake relationship #opposites attract #virgin
    - Triggers: past cheating from a side character, mild bullying
    - Main couple: Dahlia Brady & Felix Walters
    - Hotness: 4/5
    - Romance: 5/5
    - + Dahlia standing up for herself, beautiful
    - – I’m kind of tired of the ‘I’m not made for serious relationships’ trope, especially when all the character’s actions show otherwise

I've been hooked on this series since
Tutoring the Player and I loved
Hating the Player even more, but this one.. just didn't work for me.

One thing I've always loved about this series is how she always does such a good job immersing you into the college experience. As a 30 year old, it's always a fun little break from my life where I work a stressful, sometimes soul draining 9-5 job (I mean, technically it's 7-4 but you get me lmao). I love living vicariously through these characters with such carefree lives.

This time around it felt immature in a way that I didn't really get from the other 2 books. Maybe it's because I also just didn't vibe with the main characters. I'm so over shy, virgin heroines who have never been kissed and fumble over their words in front of a cute guy. I'm also over guys who think they're doing something by ~not committing because she deserves better~

I'll admit that I wasn't initially sold on this book, but after about the halfway point, it grew on me and reminded me why I love this series. Either way, this still wasn't my favorite.

I really enjoyed this swoony opposites attract, fake relationship romance. From the relationships built to the crazy friendships, and the banter between Felix and Dahlia made me want more. I didn’t want it to end. This was just such a feel good book. I loved how they were crushing on each other but neither one knew until the video came out. Felix was great at pulling Dahlia out of her shell. I loved watching this relationship develop from friendship to falling in love.

5⭐️ This series just keeps getting better with each book! This book follows Dahlia and Felix and their relationship. Dahlia is the shy fashion student and golf while Felix is the complete opposite as the popular quarterback and captain of the football team. The two decide to be in fake relationship together after something happens but their feeling become real. I love this universe and getting to see the other characters from the other books. This series is the cutest college romance series following a group of friends.
