Bridget von Ascheberg. A princess with a stubborn streak and a hidden fire that reduces his rules to ash. She's nothing he expected and everything he never knew he needed. Day by day, inch by inch, she breaks down his defenses until he's faced with a truth he can no longer deny: he swore an oath to protect her, but all he wants is to ruin her.
Because she's his. His princess. His forbidden fruit. His every depraved fantasy.
Regal, strong-willed, and bound by the chains of duty, Princess Bridget dreams of the freedom to live and love as she chooses. But when her brother abdicates, she's suddenly faced with the prospect of a loveless, politically expedient marriage and a throne she never wanted.
And as she navigates the intricacies-and treacheries-of her new role, she must also hide her desire for a man she can't have. Her bodyguard. Her protector. Her ultimate ruin.
Theirs is a love that could destroy a kingdom...and doom them both.
Contains mature themes.
Twisted Games Reviews
-
i was gonna write a full review for this but i decided against it in the end. i don't even know how i could expand on what i say.
the time jumps made this all the more unrealistic. it just added to the the telling and not enough showing.
it's basically insta lust. 5% and mans commented that his dick had already gotten hard at bridget. bridget also had a wet fantasy dream about him pretty damn early on. the two spend more time having forbidden sex than forbidden love. so yeah, i'm here to say that THIS IS NOT SLOW BURN. not romantically and not sexually! less than 20% and rhys was already wishing to spend more time with bridget even though like, 10% ago he said he doesn’t get involved in clients personal lives and isn’t their friend or what not. i think one reason people say this is slow burn is because two years pass until rhys and bridget kiss but we don't even see those moments of the two years, so it makes it hard for to believe and accept their feelings. if that doesn't bother you, you might like the relationship more.
all the secret glances and soft touches i was expecting? non existent to be honest. i think part of it also has to do with the slow burn i didn't feel. i would have thought they had their first kiss around, at least, 60% or so, with everything before being full of stolen glances, touches, and moments between them.
in conclusion: i didn’t feel the tension, it’s all sexual. i'm too sappy and asexual to believe on the sexual desire with no emotional connection.
rhys…i expected him to be more broody and cold for how he was described. he had this cold aura, so you'd expect him to follow through with that harsh attitude. but, nothing new. even alex from the first book was more cold. sure rhys fits in the “touch her and you die trope” but he was a pretty big softie from the beginning. he had no character development. he wasn’t mysterious and broody at all. nothing but possessive and jealous tbh. that didn’t even bother me because i knew he was that, but that was it. sure he has a sad background but i literally felt nothing.
bridget has no dignity lmao she’s basically rhys’ dog and it’s funny seeing her give herself up for him. mans literally made her crawl 😭
rhys talks dirty. other than that there’s nothing else about him that was appealing. tattooed and scarred. muscled. NEXT!
and the suspense element was also much better in the first book because there was actually some action. the suspense (can we even call it that?) in this was so badly done compared to the first book. i think i appreciate ava and alex's story more in that aspect because we actually see it unfold and, like i said, there was actually some action. not only that, but right from the beginning, we're thrown into this "suspenseful" act so we go through the book wondering what's happening (even if you know what it was). with this, there was none of it for me.
i liked that bridget volunteers at an animal shelter. my vegan animal loving self just loves everything animal care related.
that's basically it.
eh, i’m excited for jules and josh’s book though!
and stella and christian? with that ending? 👀 -
OMFG this was so good !!! way better than the first one. this book fucked me up !! literally my bones were shaking the entire time i was reading this.
Rhys -fuck !!! he’s a MFing DILF !!! this zaddy could take me anywhere. ok so get this - Bridget is the royal princess, she has some authority, but guess who’s in charge? MFing Rhys!! this guy so fucking feral over her and it’s the best thing to read
Bridget -ugh i fricking loved her!! literally did some boss ass queen shit this entire book!!
the plot itself was so good and enticing. i was genuinely so invested!! if this book were a pole, i’d strip on it !! -
so basically, what im getting from this is, maybe the reason im single is because i havent hired a bodyguard who is forced to spend every second with me and care about my well-being resulting in the forced proximity to eventually cause him to fall in love in with me.
if only i had the budget. lol.

I changed the rating to 4.75 from a 4.5. Here’s the thing—this had all of the makings of a 5 star book EXCEPT for the fact that I found the beginning quite slow. And I fully get that its slow burn, its meant to be that way, but I can’t ignore how i felt when I was still in the beginning stages.
There are TONS of build up in part 1, and the book itself really started taking off for me in part 2. The build up in part 1 is still soooo good, especially looking back at it now. I definitely appreciate it more after finishing the whole book more than i did when i was going through it.
I am so obsessed with Rhys and Bridget, but obviously definitely Rhys because that’s my guyyyyy.
Bearded, protective, HOTTTT, possessive, supports and adores and loves Bridget so much. OOOOOF, come to mama.
Bridget is my favorite from the friend group I think. And I definitely liked this book wayyyy more than i liked the first one, twisted love.
I think the writing improved a ton, and the time jumps were that much easier to follow whereas i felt like it was a little difficult to know how much time had passed in the first book (one of the main reasons I gave that a 4). This one is just way better for me. ITS STEAMIER, ITS SO POSSESSIVE, the tension between them. I’m literally so into it 😂
And I cant stop thinking about Rhys. This man is BEAUTIFUL. All of the qualities i like in my alpha characters.
How part 1 felt for me is mainly the reason this isn’t getting 5 stars because i feel like that’s my first impression and it’s like one of those things where when i was in school, people always told me to go with the first answer when i was taking an exam 😂 so I’m applying that same theory here LMAO
Chef’s kiss, i hope you guys enjoy this when you get to it! Rhys and Bridget are AMAZING. Obsessed!
18+, and spice is about 3.5 to 4. VERYYYYY HOT. And frequent 😏🌶 -

random thoughts whilst reading:
👑 reading this after joshjules was a mistake and tbh even alexava had a better story/chemistry than bridgetrhys 💀 i felt nothing for them and between them.
👑 rhys being 6"5 was a waste, that should've been josh. 😤
👑 this was just an insta-lust book disguised as a slow burn.
👑 eldorra? i only know genovia. princess diaries walked so books like this could run but all TG did was stroll towards disappointment lane for me.
👑 the plot was so tedious once they went to eldorra, even though it was supposed to kickstart the action. i found myself skimming a little just to get through it 😭
👑 if you took the time jumps away, the book would've still flowed normally so what was the reason? *cardi b voice*
👑 take bridgets princess title away and that girl would be the blandest heroine ever, even cardboard has more personality than her.
👑 i lowkey missed the girl gang vibes here, if we had more of that it would've perhaps helped bridget form an actual personality.
👑 the dirty talk is the only reason this book is not getting 1 star, because equal parts degradation and praise kink is my kryptonite 🥵
❝Remember. In public, you’re my princess, but in private, you’re my whore.❞
❝You’ll do what I say, when I say it, and you’ll take my cock however I want. Won’t you?❞

this book makes me rage. rhys has got to be the most boring fucking character ever written. personality? non-existent. bland? boring? insanely annoying? present, present and present. i didn’t feel the tension between them at all. the story itself is just so uninteresting that it took me months just to read halfway through.
he is just dirty talking all the time. they do more fucking than actual loving. it’s not slow-burn. the time jumps was an insanely stupid thing to add? it was all show and no tell so we’re just supposed to imagine sexual tension and build-up in those 2 years of him being her bodyguard 🤨🤨🤨
rhys: "i don’t get involved with clients"
also rhys: *instantly in love and hard for bridget after seeing her for 5 seconds*
this book is just one huge joke. nothing special about mc bridget either. so much anger inside me rn bc of this.
would not recommend. sorry to everyone who actually enjoyed this. i didn’t find anything to enjoy about this book -
I felt no chemistry, too redundant, and little cliche if you will.
The time jump was really confusing. -
3.25 stars 👑
Well, I liked this better than I expected. Going in with lower expectation was definitely the right choice so I ended up liking this a bit better than the first book.
This book felt a lot less insta-love than
Twisted Love. That book was just too fast for me…the characters fell in love faster than I could give a shit about them so this book did much better at that. It’s still a bit fast, but in the book it’s technically not fast since this occurs in a 3-4 year time frame. What this book is, is insta-LUST to the motherfucking max. Our hero, Rhys Larsen, literally says in his inner-thoughts that he got a hard-on for Bridget (h) the first time he met her.I’d guarded plenty of beautiful women before, but when I saw Bridget in person for the first time, I’d reacted in a way I never had for my previous clients. Blood heating, cock hardening, hands itching to find out how her golden hair would feel wrapped around my fist.
Well alrighty then 😃
This book sorta gave me vibes from The Bodyguard aka one of my favorite movies of all time. Especially since Bridget didn't like how Rhys was trying to change the way she lived her life. Like increasing her security and forcing her to not go to certain events because he didn't think he could do to keep her safe
Or even Bodyguard, the tv series
this clip is spain without the 's' 😔
Imma be honest, I really liked Rhys. Is he super overbearing, overprotective, and constantly jealous? Hell yeah, but it kinda makes him spicy. His inner thoughts, before they develop a relationship, consist of him lusting over her and getting jealous if a man even looked at Bridget
exhibit a)If Bridget were anyone but my client, I’d drag her into the bathroom, bend her over, and spank her ass raw for her insolent tone.
exhibit b)A muscle flexed in my jaw as Bridget’s laughter floated over, joined by Steffan’s deeper laugh, and the urge to murder someone—someone male with blond hair and a name that began with S—intensified.
What was so fucking hilarious, anyway?”
…
"They make such a cute couple,” the reporter next to me, a curvy brunette in a bright pink suit that hurt my eyes, cooed. “Don’t you think so?”
“No.”
This mans inner-thoughts are freaking A-1, reeeal subtle
I also loved that he wasn’t with another women at any point after him and Bridget met. I loathe when a hero likes the heroine and chooses to fuck around with other girls…like what was the reason.
There’s also some super cute and sweet moments between the two of them. Like when Rhys doesn’t allow Bridget to go to a festival because he didn’t like the security of it so he builds an indoor “festival” in her house. He put up a tent, put out snacks and had the festival playing live on the TV. The cutest part is that he lied and said her friends put it together, but it was all him 🥺
→Bridget and Rhys confessing their love for each other-“In Costa Rica, you asked if I’d ever been in love. I said no.” I lowered my head until our foreheads touched and her lips were scant inches from mine. “Ask me again.”
…”Have you ever been in love, Mr. Larsen?”
“Only once.” I slid my hand up from her neck to the back of her head, cupping it. “And you, princess. Have you ever been in love?”
“Only once,” she whispered.
→THIS SPEECH. RHYS STOP ✋🏻✋🏻✋🏻-“You filled a part of my soul I always thought would be empty, and you healed scars I never knew existed. And I realized…it’s not that I didn’t believe in love before. It’s that I was saving it all for you.”
I MEAN REALLY 😭😭😭 men written by women >
Now, as far as the smut goes…PHEWWWW. The dirty talk was so fucking good by both Rhys and Bridget. Like I genuinely was surprised sometimes by the shit they said to each other.“Remember. In public, you’re my princess, but in private, you’re my whore…You’ll do what I say, when I say it, and you’ll take my cock however I want. Won’t you?”
“Spread your legs wider. Let me see that pretty pussy dripping for me.”
→He said this right after he made her wear a vibrator to a meeting with the King (her grandfather) and Parliament 🤪
Can I just say something…WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE TIME JUMPS. Y’all know this, I HATE time jumps with a deep fucking passion. For there to be a TWO YEAR time jump TWENTY PERCENT of the way in the book should be a fucking crime. Also, 2 time jumps in one chapter and another the very next is RIDICULOUS.
Also, Bridget’s brother Nikolai is a selfish POS. The way he just put everything on Bridget’s shoulders was so shitty. I can’t believe Bridget wasn’t angry as hell that her entire life was uprooted because Nikolai wanted to think about himself 🙄

Plots wise I loved this book! It made sense and the so called plot twist wasn’t out of the blue if you think about it. It made sense. It was a save plot line.
I like Bridget. She is probably my favorite girl of the group because of how she holds herself but wow Rhys did indeed make me cringe almost all the time. Sometimes I was weirded out by how possessive he was and just how Bridget did anything he said.
The growling and crawling just isn’t for me. These men are just weird.
I also liked Christian in this book as well as a lot of the other side characters so this book was really pleasant to read and it wasn’t too fast but also not too slow. -
It’s not that I didn’t believe in love before. It’s that I was saving it all for you.
🔹 Overall feelings:
〰 Ok, so it’s actually been a couple of days since I’ve read this book and for some reason, I don’t remember much of it. I’m gonna try to be as thorough in my review as I possibly can though. That said, enjoy my rant and random thoughts…
〰 I liked it. I didn’t love it, but it was still entertaining. I enjoyed some aspects and disliked some others but we’ll get into that later on in the review. Compared to the first installment though, I’ll say this: I liked the characters in the first novel better but the plot was more flushed out here in my opinion.
🔹 The characters:
Bridget and Rhys:
〰 Here’s the thing; while the whole “telling instead of showing” thing is still very much present in this installment, it was definitely much less of a problem in here compared to the first book. However, I still felt like we didn’t get to see the most crucial part of these characters’ relationship development. When it comes to a friends to lovers romance, you absolutely need to show the whole “friends” part, which didn’t really happen here. We got a few scenes, sure, but the overall development happened off-page. Also, I genuinely don’t consider this an enemy’s to lover’s romance because I feel like they hated each other for two point five seconds which is why I’m labeling this a friends to more novel.
〰Moving on, although the relationship is a bit stilted, I think that the main characters’ personal growth is the biggest problem here. There is no character development whatsoever for Bridget or Rhys. The version of them that we meet in the first chapter is the exact same one that we see in the last page. That might have been ok had the characters had an actual personality, which they didnt. Bridget’s only personality trait in my opinion is that she’s an animal lover but even that is not mentioned at all in Part II of the story. As for Rhys, this fellow’s sole personality trait is that he’s grumpy and rude. That’s literally it. That said, I just found myself… bored with the two of them. It’s not that they were unlikeable characters, it’s just that they were uninteresting ones. I can talk about that aspect of the novel forever but I think it would be in all our best interest if I just move on now.
Side characters:
〰 Another aspect that I wish was done differently. If there’s one thing that I love about series following different couples, it’s the fact that we get to see the previous couples in the new installment as side characters. Another thing that I absolutely adore in books is strong friendship dynamics. I understand that given Bridget’s standing and storyline having her see her friends often would have been unrealistic, but I still hoped that we would get more than a single scene with them. Maybe if we had more scenes with her friends then this book would have seemed a tiny bit less boring to me but alas, we didn’t, so I guess we’ll never know… *shrugs*.
🔹 The plot and the romance:
〰 As I mentioned above, the plot is a bit more flushed out here than it was in the first book, which I really appreciated. Obviously I found many things to be unrealistic (considering Bridget is a literal princess) but I can still recognize that this is a work of fiction so I digress. That said, when it comes to romance, Ava and Alex definitely win in my opinion. Also, I’m actually not that excited about Jules’ book but I will say that I’m definitely shipping Stella and Christian. I think their story has a lot of potential.
〰 Moreover, I mentioned in my review of the first book that I had a few problems with the writing style. I’m here to say that while the whole “telling not showing” thing is still very much present, I do think that the author’s style has improved quite a bit. I didn’t find any scenes to be outright cringey like I did in the first installment, so that’s definitely a win in my opinion.
〰 Moving on, I have to say that I didn’t like the whole side plot with Rhys’ father. It reminded me a lot of the sideplot with Ava’s father in the first book (which I also did not like). This sort of thing feels cheesy and cliché in my opinion. Can we stop having these regular guys turn out to be offsprings of important people? I seriously don’t get the obsession with this trope, I think it’s overused. And even if Rhys didn’t do anything about it, I still didn’t like the fact that it was present in the book at all. It reminded me of those barbie movies where the regular maid finds out that she’s the daughter of a king which just fixes everything cause now that she’s noble, she’s finally seen as worthy of marrying the prince that she’s loved all along. Like, what? Just writing this paragraph felt cringey to be honest. Also, I’m not even going to get into the whole Andreas thing to be honest cause it was as unbelievable and ridiculous as the father thing. Why can’t we just have the made family trope in this instance? Why didn’t the author expand on Rhys’ relationship with Christian and make them act like real brothers? I honestly think that I would have enjoyed that much more than the whole “I have a secret family” thing. Oh well… I guess to each their own right?
🔹 Final thoughts:
〰 I enjoyed it. It was nothing special and I honestly don’t think it was memorable but it definitely wasn’t what I would consider a bad read. A lot of the issues that I had with this book had to do with me and my personal preferences when it comes to romance which is why I would still recommend this book if the premise sounds interesting to you. If you end up reading it then I hope you enjoy it!

“You don’t get it. There is no happily ever after for us.” We weren’t a fairytale. We were a forbidden love letter, tucked into the back of a drawer and retrieved only in the darkness of night. We were the chapter of bliss before the climax hit and everything crumbled into ash. We were a story that was always meant to end. “This is it.”
Twisted Games was one of my most anticipated reads for this month and I’m so glad it didn’t disappoint. This was way better than the first and it’s so clear Ana’s writing has evolved which made me love this book even more. I’m usually not a fan of royal-bodyguard trope but i think Ana just changed my mind cause this is prob gonna be hands-down the best book I’ve read in that trope and by Ana.
There was just something about how the words flowed so perfectly which couldn’t help but make me love the characters. I loved the setting, the vivid descriptions of the characters and the plot, loved the side characters, loved everything.
”But Bridget was the kind of stunning that came along once in a lifetime, and her personality made things worse, because she actually had one. A good one, at that, at least when she wasn’t driving me nuts with her hard-headedness. I took this job thinking she would be spoiled and stuck up like the other princesses I’d guarded, but she turned out to be smart, kind, and down to earth, with just enough fire shining through her cool facade to make me want to strip every layer off her until she was bared to me and me alone.”
Bridget von Ascheberg is the princess of Eldorra and is the second to the throne which makes it easy for her to live a normal life in America (with security measures-bodyguard) but when her brother Nikolai abdicates his right to throne, she is the one who has to now reign over her country.
“But that was the problem. Bridget wasn’t beautiful and nothing else. She was everything. Warmth, strength, compassion, humor. I saw it in the way she laughed, in her empathy as she listened to people’s problems and her composure as they railed to her about everything they thought was wrong with the country.”
I loved Bridget’s character so much. I loved how passionate she was, how kind she was, how she volunteered at Wags & Whiskers, a local pet rescue shelter- not for PR but because she liked it and how loving she was. I loved how her friendship with everyone and I lived for her and Rhys’s banter. I loved how strong she was, how she didn’t let haters bring her down and how smart she was.
“Despite my grumbles, I found a strange comfort in his nagging. In a world where everything else was changing, Rhys remained wonderfully, unrelentingly him, and I never wanted that to change.”
Rhys Larsen oh my god. That guy is whole ass another level. I don’t know why but he reminds me so much of Christian Allister with his attitude which probably made me love him even more. I loved how he was grumpy with everyone but our h and how he was so so possessive over her. I LOVED HIM SM AHH. I loved how he was always fighting with Bridget and how he was making her want to kill him. I loved Rhys in the starting with his no-shit attitude but I wasn’t really ready for him when he made it clear that he liked her sksks.
“It was…strange. The darkness had been a protective shield, and without it, I felt stripped bare. Defenseless, which was not something I ever wanted to feel. But in moments like this, when it was just me and Bridget, I didn’t need defenses. She’d broken through all of them, anyway.”
Did i mention I loved Rhys so much?😭 I loved how when Bridget missed a concert due to safety issues- he made an indoor kinda festival for her and said her friends helped him (they didn’t) 😭🥰✨ He was so fucking adorable🥲 I loved how possessive he was over her and how protective he was with her. How he would get mad if she danced with a guy twice😂😂
“You should be, princess. You wanna know why?” I growled. “Because you’re right. I do want you. But I don’t want to kiss or make love to you. I want to fuck you. I want to punish you for mouthing off and letting another man put his hands on you. I want to yank up that tiny fucking dress of yours and pound into you so hard you won’t be able to walk for days. I want all those things, even though I can’t have them. But if you don’t stop looking at me like that…” I tightened my grip on her chin and throat. She stared at me in the mirror, her lips parted and her eyes dark with heat. “I might take them anyway.”
The dirty talk y’all 😭😭 The STEAMY SCENES in this book were so GOOD and well-written😫😭 I already had a lot of expectations watching Ana’s vids on tiktok but those vids legit didn’t do this book justice. the sex scenes were so HOT and the library scene>>🥵🥵
”He lowered his mouth to my ear and tangled one of his hands with mine. “I want you to know something, princess,” he said, his voice a hoarse rasp against my skin. “There’s not much in the world I want to claim as mine. I’ve seen and done too much shit in my life to believe in forever. But you…” He grasped my chin with his free hand. “You belong to me. I don’t give a fuck what the law or anyone else says. You are mine. Understand?”
Overall, this book was just the book I needed to get out of the slump and i really enjoyed it! Though there were some things which were predictable, I still had a great time reading it. I’m even more excited for the next book cause its enemies to lovers (hate to love)✨
““I’m right here. I’m not leaving.” I swept my thumb over her bottom lip. “I take care of what’s mine, and you’ve been mine since the moment I saw you outside your poorly secured house at Thayer. Until I fixed it, of course.” A smile tugged at her mouth. “You couldn’t stand me back then.” “Doesn’t matter. You were still mine.” I curled my hand around the back of her neck while keeping my thumb on her lip. “Mine to fight with. Mine to protect. Mine to fuck.” My voice dropped. “Mine to love.”.”
-
I really fuckin enjoyed this!
I wasn’t expecting it to go this way, since the first 40% or so of the story felt a bit meh. But I was anticipating this story since the first book came out. I was already rooting for Rhys and Bridget.
The writing and some of the plot points slightly bothered me though. It bordered on cliche/cheesy at times (for my taste) and the writing wasn’t as polished as I would’ve liked. But I can see the potential Ana Huang has, because she definitely knows how to write a good story. I could not put this down once I got started!
The time jumps was another element that bothered me. Whilst they were necessary to the story, I did not like the way it was handled initially. It interrupted the flow of the story for me. There was no natural progression into the time jump - it was just abrupt and the reader was just expected to go along with it.
Despite all that though, I really liked the characters. A lot. I liked how this story progressed. The forbidden element was really honed in on, the angst was beautifully torturous, I loved that Bridget really took on the role of being a future queen. I wish we had more of that. And I loved that the age-gap wasn’t an issue. I mean, they had bigger shit to deal with but it never felt like a hindrance because our two main characters were so in tune with one another. Plus it helped that Bridget was actually mature.
I just really enjoyed how this wrapped up overall. It got better and better as I read on.
And don’t get me started on the steaminess. Lord…
Bodyguard romances are definitely becoming a book-kink of mine. I want to read more books that include this particular trope. -
OMFGGG. These just keep getting better, I’m obsessed with this series 😭

"You and me against the world, princess."
SCREAMINGGGG OMG I LOVE THIS BOOK
"Careful, Mr Larsen, or I’ll think you actually like me.”
His mouth curled into a grin. “Baby, we’re way beyond like."
Here we have classic:
✅princess x bodyguard
✅grumpy x sunshine
✅ jealousy scene in the club🥵
✅"you can't be mine, but I'm taking you anyway"
"Bridget Von Ascheberg was mine and mine alone. It didn’t matter that she wasn’t mine to take. I was taking her anyway."
I devoured this book in a day, Rhys was just ughh🥵 and Bridget was 🌞😇, I couldn't put it down😌
"But someone once told me we always end up where we're meant to be, and this is where I'm meant to be. With you."
Ana Huang's books are soooo addictive, you sit for five minutes and turns out, it's already 5 h later and you're almost finished 🤌
"Remember. In public, you’re my princess, but in private, you’re my whore."
👀👀👀RHYS🔥🧎
“I’d rather you hate me alive than love me dead.”
I already know Christian and Stella will be my favourites, and they had literally one scene💀 -
Twisted Games is the second book in the Twisted Series (but it can be read as a standalone) and it was truly magical. It was the perfect fairytale love story and I loved every second of it, I was never once bored and was hooked from the very start! This is a princess/bodyguard, forbidden romance, age-gap (10 years) and a royal romance. It's is literally everything you want in a book.
The story follows Bridget von Ascheberg princess of Eldorra and Rhys her bodyguard who's closed off and refuses to ever become emotionally involved with his clients. The passion and chemistry between Bridget and Rhys was off the charts and they can’t stay away from each other no matter what. This book is filled with STEAMY scenes and so much tension between them both, which was written amazingly.
Bridget wants to be free but when her brother abdicates for love, Bridget has to prepare to rule Eldorra while hiding her forbidden romance with Rhys. From all their secret looks and forbidden touches Bridget realizes it's harder to stop herself from falling for Rhys.
Rhys is everything you want in a book boy. He gives "touch her and i'll k!ll you' vibes, he would do anything and everything to protect Bridget and I absolutely adored that. He does have a sad past which does stop him from ever letting anyone in and it was truly beautiful watching Bridget break down his walls.
I'm beyond excited for the next book in the series because Ana Huang truly creates the best romances and is for sure one of my favourite authors.
You all need to read this book trust me. It's definitely one of my top reads of 2021!
"I wasn't a storybook princess, and Rhys wasn't Prince Charming. I didn't want us to be. Because while what we had wasn't a traditional fairytale by any means, it was ours. And it was forever." -
3.5 Hate Me Alive Stars ⭐
Princess Bridget von Ascheberg wants to blend into the crowd. As the second in line to the throne, she has been able to reside in America as she attends college. Obviously a full time bodyguard is a requirement and life has been dandy until she is appointed a new guard.
One wild, passionate hookup with my sexy bodyguard before I took on the duty of a lifetime. Was that too much to ask?
Ex military Ryhs Larsen is inflexible when it comes to his line of work. Even if he senses immediately that Bridget is unlike his other high maintenance clients, he has no intention of getting friendly. Therefore you can imagine the constant tension.
Aside from the occasional civil interaction, we couldn’t stand each other, my hard cock and her hard nipples notwithstanding. Lust was one thing, but if we kept this up, we’d kill each other.
Told in two parts, the first half is about the tentative professional and personal relationship that forms between Rhys and Bridget. Although they have their moments, they've found a middle ground until it all changes and Bridget must return home permanently for royal duties.
Well thank you for small mercies because it's the second part where Twisted Games picked up and no longer became a snoozefest. When they could have had a little dalliance back in America, now it's completely forbidden. Bridget needs a husband and that does not include a commoner like Rhys.
“Remember. In public, you’re my princess, but in private, you’re my whore.”
I was initially intrigued by the whole bodyguard and forbidden Princess trope, however this book needed a serious edit as it took too long to get to the actual romance. Although a slow burn, once Rhys unleashed himself, we got the steam, drama and the taboo worth waiting for! -
This was SUCH an improvement from book one, but there were still some things that carried over from book one that I wasn't a fan of. The pacing of this book was better, but it still have some issues, especially in the beginning of the book. I really enjoyed getting to know Rhys and understanding his past. I definitely felt more connected to him as a character in this book than Alex in book one. I love the bodyguard trope, so I enjoyed the dynamic with him and Bridget. I did miss the best friend relationship Bridget had with her friends that was in book one. That pretty much disappeared in this book, though, until the very end. If you like royal romances, you will really enjoy this one because a huge part of the second half of this book is about Bridget and her role as a royal. While this author isn't necessarily my favorite and I'm not sure if I'll continue on with this series, this one was still an enjoyable read.

i love me a grumpy, stoic hero, okay? my love for these type of men defy logic.

“You and me against the world, princess.”
The first book in this series wasn’t my favorite but I’m so happy that I enjoyed this one! It reminded me of ‘The Princess Diaries’ but a more grown up version. I love royal/bodyguard romances and though it was a bit predictable at times, it really hit the spot!

I really love that I’m not loving this series.
In my opinion, Twisted Games was miles better than Twisted Love. Nothing in terms of writing or plot even but the character development and relationship dynamic just seemed a lot more grown and deep than it was in book one.
What I tolerated
✨the smut ( okay I loved it )
✨She was a motherfucking queen
✨He wasn’t a block of ice
✨she had a personality
✨he dropped a pot when she got close to her date
What I could’ve gone without
🙄 the number of avoidable chapters
🙄 the unnecessary smut
🙄 the info dumps
🙄 the bs arguments she starts
I’m pretty excited for Josh and Jules ngl. They’re my favorite people so far in this series -
3.5 stars. I didn’t enjoy this quite as much as the first book.

I think most people by now know what these books are about. They’re cute, super smutty and very addictive.❤️🔥
From this very impressive friend group, this time we follow Bridget, a literal princess- and her hot, broody bodyguard Rhys(with a scar in his brow). And who doesn’t love a forbidden romance. 😩
They start out with a big dislike for each other and it definitely builds up the tension. I would say it’s a ‘hate-to-ok maybe you’re not the worst-to-you’re also very hot-to-lovers’ trope?
Bridget has true queen energy.👑 I freaking loved her! She’s super passionate, volunteered in an animal shelter (already won me over there), great strong personality. Just a very loveable character all around.
I love Rhys. He’s overprotective, grumpy, possessive, jealous, bit dickish. All the things that you shouldn’t want in a guy, but are hot AF.🔥 And the things that come out of this man's mouth 👀.
Although that didn’t even come close to his thought process, that was just a wholeee other level. 🥵
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the time jumps. I feel like we missed out on the development of the relationship by doing that. Nevertheless I really liked this book.
The bucket list thing was so cute, the smut scenes were filthy, (the throne thing, you guys🌶👀) and the plot twist was a big surprise to me!
Highly recommend to read this entire series in order🤍
❥ Some quotes:“I hated having to hide her, us. I wanted the world to know she was mine and mine alone. I wanted to tattoo myself into her skin and sink into her so fucking deep she could never get me out.”
“A small smile touched Rhys’s lips. “I always knew you would make a great queen.”
“I’m not queen yet.”
“You don’t need a crown to be queen, princess.”“I came back despite knowing the torture I’d have to go through because I can’t stay away from you. Even when you’re not there, you’re everywhere. In my head, in my lungs, in my fucking soul.”

6 out of 5 stars! This was PERFECTION in every way! We have a broody, protective, alpha AF, bodyguard hero (Rhys) and a princess who is kind, loves animals, but has nerves of steel when it's required (Bridget). Bridget recently learns that she must now prepare for the role of Queen since her brother abdicated the crown and she is reluctant and unprepared to do so.
For living a life of near constantly being in the spotlight she has taken pleasure where she can find it, quiet moments of anonymity with her college friends and at the animal shelter she volunteers at.
That all changes when Rhys takes over as her new bodyguard. Cold, deadly, arrogant, and always telling her what to do and how to live the two butt heads repeatedly at first. But the attraction between them always simmers just under the surface, and the more time they spend together the more they realize what lies beneath the surface of each other is a soul made for them.
This book was a RIDE. Simultaneous romantic, swoony, SCORCHING HOT, and mysterious. Every single page was a delight to read and I was completely immersed in this story from the first to the last page.
This is the ultimate bodyguard romance, brimming with sexual tension and forbidden romance. I loved it even more than the first and that's saying something because I ADORED Alex and Ava's story.
If you like alpha heroes, forbidden romance, and the princess and her guard tropes pick this up ASAP! -
"And I realized…it’s not that I didn’t believe in love before. It’s that I was saving it all for you.”
Loved every. Single. Page.
The plot, the romance, the spice, and...Rhys 😩👌🏻 -
✩ 3.5 stars.
’I finally gathered enough of my wits to pull back, but before I could, a loud crash shattered the silence in the greenhouse.
Steffan and I jumped apart, and my eyes fell on Rhys, who stood next to a broken pot of lilies.
“My hand slipped.” His voice held not an ounce of apology.’
the jealousy scenes will be on replay in my head for the foreseeable future because i’m honestly obsessed. me actually liking this book was definitely unexpected… rhys larsen, when are we getting married? josh & jules, don’t know them. <3
