I execute many roles: owner of the NHL’s Carolina Reapers, CFO of Silas Tech, and genuine fan of all things professional sports.
One thing I’m not?
Chaotic.
I’ve made my billions off of structure, discipline, and very little risk.
So when a friend asks if bombshell romance author Daisy Lewis can shadow me for a month while researching characters for her upcoming release, I don’t hesitate to say yes.
I mean, she’s an author, it’s ninety percent typing and quiet time, right?
Wrong.
Daisy’s a hurricane storming through my regimented days.
She’s as gorgeous as she is sharp, and has a mouth on her I can’t stop obsessing over.
And the stuff she writes? I’ve taken more than one cold shower just from reading over her shoulder.
We couldn’t be more different, and yet, I find myself fascinated with every surprise she throws my way.
Our chemistry is a firestorm, but we live in different worlds.
Mine is scheduled down to the minute and hers is wherever her passions take her.
There is no way we fit together, but that doesn’t stop me from falling head over heels.
And when our two worlds clash on every level, I’ll lose her forever if I can’t manage the one thing I can’t handle—change.
Asher (Billionaire's Game #1) Reviews

DNF
My husband told me I had to stop reading this book due to the fact that there is no way there would be two NFL teams, a MLB team and a NHL team all in the Carolinas. Apparently that market is too small.
Also he can’t abide that this author created fake teams in real leagues... apparently it’s fake teams in fake leagues or real teams in real leagues...
Unless I promise not to rant at him about inaccuracies I can’t read this....there is no way I can make those kinds of promises. -
I know the saying goes “write what you know,” but it doesn’t have to be so literal. I feel like so many authors are reaching the point of going way too fucking meta. We don’t really need another book where the FMC is a romance author hooking up with her dream billionaire man. We don’t need to have explained how authors get booktok /bookstagrammers to hype their books for them as free and usually false advertising and also write forced bordering on fake reviews. We know… and it’s so boring to read about. God imagine if every genre had a trend where a main character was the same type of author and they just talked about the writing process. No one would read that shit because it’s lazy AF.
I had such high hopes for Asher. I was really hoping he’d end up with a genius madwoman and they could conquer the world together. But alas… -
To be honest, I didn't think at first that I would enjoy this one as the heroine made too many sexual innuendos and first moves on the Hero. Aka, she was the initial aggressor which turned me off hence for the 3 stars, but fortunately the story turned around on the 2nd half and I was able to enjoy it.
Call me old fashioned or whatnot, but I like when the man pursues the woman - not the other way around. Sue me.🤷♀️
“Is that what I am?” She leaned forward slightly. “Your date?”
“Well, as of about ten minutes ago, I’m no longer your research project, so if you’re looking for labels...” Was she? Shit, was I? “Then yeah, Daisy, I guess you’re going as my date.” Why the hell did I feel so nervous? I always knew what I wanted, and I always made the right moves to get it, but I’d never wanted anyone quite the way I wanted her.
“Your date,” she repeated, her smile stopping my heart.
“Your date, if that’s what you want. If not, we can stick with me being your lab rat until we get back home. There’s no pressure.”
“I like date.”
Good. I did, too.
“So, no more research questions you’d like to throw at me? Last chance, and all.”
She tugged her lower lip between her teeth and scooted over, closing the distance between us. My pulse jumped. “Actually,” she whispered. “I do have one thing you could help me with.”
“And what is that?” My voice lowered as she grasped the skirt of her dress in her hands and swung one knee over my lap, resting it on the other side of my hip and straddling me. Hell yes. Guess I wasn’t the only one who knew how to make the right moves to get what they wanted, and it was fucking hot. There was nothing timid or shy about her right now. She was fully comfortable making the first move, and damn if I didn’t find that sexy as hell.
“I’ve always wanted to research the whole mile high club thing.” She ran her fingers through my hair and settled onto my lap.
Then there was the fact that heroine is a romance writer and the author here takes us on a list of what romance writers have to do to get their books published which is all fine & dandy but when she said that heroine had to "reach out to influencers in hopes that they liked her book and talk about it", I was like, sooo we are calling ARC readers now "influencers"??? 😂🤣 LOL.
I know I’m picky but these things annoy me and I really didn’t care too much for the heroine at first BUT when they start to become a couple and are in a relationship, then it's when the story picked up for me and became enjoyable. Honestly, it was like the first half was written by one person and the 2nd by another because I really liked both Hero & heroine in the 2nd part. They were sweet and awesome together.
Safety:
No OM/OW Drama
No sex scenes with OP
No virgins
Hero not a manwhore. Has been celibate for several months. Had GFs in the past & was never in love before.
Heroine had BFs too. One especially about a year or two prior that I think did her wrong or something but she is over him & never gives him a thought.
HEA & 2 years out Epilogue -
I am a huge fan of Samantha Whiskey’s sports romances and enjoyed watching every player fall in love in her different series set in Washington State, North Carolina and South Carolina. In her new “Billionaire’s Game” series featuring pro-team owners who are also close friends, she brilliantly weaves them together and totally took me by surprise.
Gah! The first book of this new series was fun and flirty, I was totally captivated from page one. I loved that our hero and heroine didn’t play games, and they really communicated and took their time to get to know one another. I advise you to block out a few hours, because once you start reading Asher, you won’t be able to stop.
The book title is named after our hero and is a 100% standalone. If you’re not familiar with this author, start right here. Asher is the owner of the Carolina Reapers pro-hockey team based in Charleston, one of my favorite cities. He’s single but not a player, in his thirties, and is independently wealthy. He is smart and savvy and known by all as a workaholic with a heart of gold. And of course he’s gorgeous and sophisticated, and a good sport to boot. There was absolutely nothing that I didn’t love about this man, including his early morning workout routine.
Asher’s friends are a hoot and fabulous secondary characters! I have gotten to know them in past books and they are all single ladies so the author has more in store for us for sure! Ethan Berkeley, owner of the Charleston Hurricanes MLB Team; Gareth Maxfield, owner of the Charleston Cougars NFL team; Weston Rutherford, owner of the Raleigh Raptors NFL team, and Crossland McFarland, owner of a pro-hockey team in Calgary, meet up once a month to escape their normal lives and play a destination card game somewhere around the world.
The bets are high and so cleverly written, and the author draws you in so you feel as if you are at the table, right there with them. And it’s not just money they play for, but real estate and other worldly treasures, because of course that’s what you would do as a Billionaire! I love their rules and dares, and couldn’t help but smile while reading it. I don’t want to give too much away, but I truly enjoyed these scenes, and their camaraderie and witty banter.
Asher is the most serious of the group and loses a bet where he must allow a friend of a friend, who happens to be a romance writer, to shadow him for a month, as she is writing a book on a billionaire and needed first hand research. While very approachable and hands on, Asher is also a very focused businessman and philanthropist, and I love how caring he is. Love his sister, Harper, who is a brilliant Ph.D., and works with him and is so supportive.
When Daisy breezes into his life, he’s immediately smitten as she is a breath of fresh air to his normal routine and structured life. She is so sweet and genuine, and I just loved every little thing about her. Loved her style, her positive view on the world, how she was just happy being in the moment, and of course, her profession. I’m sure the author pulled from her own experience and enjoyed learning about self-publishing.
You can’t help but not like Daisy and I could totally relate to her love of food and sleep! She immediately befriended everyone he introduced her to, and didn’t have a mean bone in her body. There was much sexual tension between her and Asher, and of course she became very inspired to write the steamy scenes in her novel her with him as her muse. Loved how the author gave us a peak into the factious story she was writing, and how well these opposites attract got along.
Of course day after day of pining for one another can only lead to some smokin’ hot sexy times, and the author did not disappoint! I love how they fell in love over time and truly got to know each other, and how they handled his very intrusive and judgmental mother. It’s not all easy going at one point, and his big grand gesture at the end was just what I hoped for.
I am really looking forward to seeing them again in the future as this series progresses because I didn’t get enough! Asher is my favorite Samantha Whiskey book to date! -

💋💋💋
Brilliant, steamy new series from Samantha, following the Billionaires who created and are in charge of the most dynamic and wealthy sports teams, all created by yours Ms Whiskey.
This series begins with Asher Silas, his match is a little known romance author, Daisy.
Passionate clinches and entertaining scenes.
Until his mother hits the scene and everything goes to pot.
Enjoy x -
Sexy fun
Quick and steamy, this makes a great series starter, and a very solid introduction to this new-to-me author's work. I've been meaning to check out Whiskey for awhile now, so I jumped at the chance to start a new series - and the vibe sounded right up my alley. Which it was! This opposites attract romance flew by, with a TON of spice to heat up the pages. Dare I say... too much spice? I would've traded a few of the (many) steamy scenes for more time spent on sexual tension early on, but it certainly satisfied my light and sexy craving. There are also lots of references to past series that make me curious about the characters, though this was very easy to read as a standalone.
The story follows Asher, a workaholic billionaire with a structured schedule. He's an all-business kind of guy, except when he's with his friends. Their poker game has gotten him into trouble in the past, and a recent dare threatens to throw his life into chaos. Somehow, Asher found himself agreeing to let a romance writer shadow him for a month - Daisy is working on a new series about billionaires, and she'd love to get some insight into his lifestyle. The only problem? Daisy is a sexy distraction, and spending his days with her causes Asher to lose focus. But these two opposites seem to complement each other perfectly, and Daisy might be exactly what Asher needs in his life.
I really wasn't sure what to expect going into this, but it was a fun, low angst, high-heat treat. Asher has a more mellow personality than most billionaires I've met in books, but he's a different guy when he's with Daisy. I loved the tongue-in-cheek references to romance and self-publishing, which added a little something extra to the story. It was also a little different from the norm, so I couldn't predict where the story would lead. I do wish that more time had been spent on pre-sex sexual tension and Daisy ruffling Asher's feathers, but it was still a solid read. And if you're looking for something that's spicy and easy, then this is a good choice. I'm also interested in reading about some of Asher's friends, so this was definitely a win overall. -

Ooh, I can see I am going to love this new billionaire series from Ms Whiskey.
Not only do we finally get to meet Mr structured and scheduled Asher Silas but we are also introduced to his billionaire buddies and future book heroes.
Asher and Daisy couldn’t be more opposite in lifestyle, attitude or career choices and yet they are pretty much perfect for each other.
Daisy takes Asher out of his comfort zone by showing him the lighter side of life while still committing to her chosen, challenging career as a romance novelist.
Asher is a generous man, he runs a tight ship and keeps his private life free of distractions. Then he is completely blindsided by this quirky beauty who only wants him for himself….but how will they fit into each other’s very different lives…!
Loved their dynamic, it’s hot as hades and some wonderful characters…
Looking forward to meeting the rest of these playboy billionaires! -
I enjoyed this one a lot. Asher's mother is a cunt though. Let's not put her in anymore books if she don't get her shit together
-
Asher by Samantha Whiskey is a spin-off series to the Carolina Reapers and Carolina Reapers. You don’t need to have read these series, but there is character crossover, and I personally enjoy having that background.
Asher Silas is a billionaire, genius and the owner of the Carolina Reapers, and he has agreed to allow romance author Daisy Lewis to shadow him for a month. But the second three two meet, shadowing Asher for character and plot accuracy isn’t all these two have on their mind.
These two are complete opposites, one who has every minute of the day planned out without a break and the other who goes with the flow and has deadlines to meet. But they do have the fact that their work is important to them both, oh yeah and the instant attraction to each other. Their love isn’t easy and they’ll need to fight for it.
I loved that there was a focus on Daisy not being into Asher for his money, and Daisy not being the typical woman Asher would normally date.
This book was definitely the builder for other books in the series, and has given more insight to the other billionaires Asher is friends with, who all have a sports team connection:
Weston Rutherford - Raleigh Raptors (NFL) Who’s story I can’t wait to read with Brynn Allen.
Crossland McFarland - owner of a pro hockey team in Calgary (NHL)
Ethan Berkeley - Charleston Hurricanes (MLB)
Gareth Maxfield - Charleston Cougars (NFL), along with mafia ties -
3.75?
I’m unsure right now 😂
I enjoyed them together a lot and the set up. I also just want one of the hero’s friends books immediately -
SHEN, LILLY, I BLAME YOU FOR MAKING ME HATE THIS BOOK BECAUSE I STARTED IMAGINING THESE CHARACTERS AS THAT FUCKING MOVIE’S IN THE CONFLICT
-
Asher and Daisy were low stress and cute together so it was a perfect low stress read.
Daisy is a romance author who is writing a billionaire romance and Asher happens to be a billionaire who accepted a dare from a friend for Daisy to shadow him for a month for her research for her book.
Were the billionaires ridiculous at times with their poker game and bets? Yep. Billionaires, am I right?
Daisy was the opposite to Asher's rigid schedule and they managed to fall in love while running into a few snags.
It was a good, short, distracting read which is what I was after. -
Asher was fun, flirty and entertaining opposites attract! It was sweet slow burn but when popped off, boy they popped off! I love me a buttoned up in the streets, freak in the sheets man. Phew, Asher was definitely all that. Who knew he had all that delicious filthy-ness underneath that suit? I loved the way Daisy made him loosen up, have fun and enjoy life. She had a work hard, play harder motto and I was so here for it. On top of that, my girl was a romance author! Like whaaat!? She was an instant fave alone for that but I loved her vibrant personality and her confidence with who she was even in the moments where she had insecurities. She was just real and I liked that. There was one part that had me kindle shaking mad but thankfully these two pulled it together! Asher with his sweet grand gesture left such a big smile on my face. Samantha Whiskey has set up the perfect introduction to this billionaire series and I cannot wait for the next one.
-
The reason for the break up spoiled it for me...
-
If you’ve seen me reading this mind your business. I saw a quote on tik tok and ran with it 😇 (the cover is objectively the worst, most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen)
-
So disappointing. I’ve been eagerly anticipating this book and it was so dull.
This may be a case of “it’s not you, it’s me” - I loathe the romance-author-as-heroine, way too cute for me. And I just didn’t buy the whole setup to begin with - these guys are betting London townhomes and naming rights and one guy throws in the Daisy-shadow project?
I also didn’t feel any heat between the two MCs. And Daisy was just…boring. She wasn’t TSTL, she didn’t grate, she was just dull. Underdeveloped and I didn’t get a sense of her motivation.
Super bummed but I still love this author. -
I wanted more out of Asher’s story.
There’s nothing really wrong with Daisy… This just wasn’t what I was expecting 🤷🏻♀️ -
Asher is a billionaire who owns a NHL team & tech company in Charleston. Him and his best friends, who are all billionaires, play a monty poker game at a different location around the globe. They play for cash, properties, memorabilia and sometimes a blank chip. These blank chips can be anything from a date to a favor. Asher loses a hand and has the dare to allow a self publishing successful romantic novelist, who is best friends with one of his hockey players, to follow him for research for her upcoming book.
Daisy is the total opposite to Asher. She is all chaos and no set schedule. Asher, had a set schedule and he doesn’t have any wiggle room.
First day Daisy shows up, Asher is smitten. She’s gorgeous in a retro dress and heels. She is totally the opposite of what he normally goes for. She’s also quick with comebacks and has not filter.
Over the course of this book you get to travel with these two who has so much chemistry!

General Thoughts: I recently got back on a Samantha Whiskey kick, and this is the third book of hers I've read in three days. Samantha is a great writer. Her books are enjoyable and well-crafted. I always enjoy the characters, the writing style, and the plot. Most books I've read by her have been sports-themed, so it was interesting to read her write a billionaire romance. It was still sports adjacent, but different from those I've read in the past. These are enjoyable KU reads, and if you haven't read any by her, I'd give it a go. Each of her books is different plotwise and character wise, but they are also similar too, So if you like one by her, chances are you'll like all.
Spice Meter: ❤️🔥❤️🔥.5 Spicy. This one has spice throughout and is fairly detailed.

Asher and Daisy’s story is one that will make you laugh, smile and at times have your heart breaking as two people who are as different as night and day let these differences take hold. As Daisy shadows Asher in the interest of the latest Billionaire romance story she is writing, Asher will have his carefully constructed and scheduled life thrown into mayhem in such a good way. The attraction and chemistry between these two is what romances are based on and will have your kindle heating up. These two will wrap themselves tightly around your heart as they realize that they are the perfect balance to each other. A story that is so captivating that putting it down is absolutely impossible. So excited for more books in this new series as the secondary characters hold your attention just as easily as Asher and Daisy did.

Ms. Whiskey is my favorite romance writer but this book isn't her best. - read on KU
I was so excited to see Ms. Whiskey had a new book out. I didn't even read the blurb before downloading. It was wonderful for Asher, the owner of the Reapers, to have his book.
We're introduced to his circle of friends; all of whom will have a book in the series, I'm sure. They seem to be promising characters. We see them at monthly poker meetings the group has. There are 5 friends in total.
Daisy and Asher are great characters. However, the plot was too simple to carry an entire novel. I usually can't put her books down. For this one, I had to push myself to read it. I was in bed with a migraine and had the time to read. If I had put it down for the day in the middle, I wouldn't have been excited to pick it back up later.
Just the basic premise was pushing it. A romance writer wouldn't need to shadow someone for a month to get an idea of what a billionaire's life would be like. One day was probably enough. Certainly, a week would have sufficed, but she obviously needed it to be longer to keep the couple together.
One thing I did enjoy was Daisy discussing what it's like to self publish. I assume that was based on Ms. Whiskey's experiences.
The only grammatical errors I saw were places where "were" wasn't used in the imaginary tense. For instance, "I wish I were a butterfly," is correct. Using "was" in that sentence would be grammatically incorrect. Although, I admit this is a rule that is silly to me. Otherwise, the cleanness of the grammar was refreshing.
I recommend everything she has written starting with Axel going forward except this book. And I wouldn't tell you not to read this one but I would suggest it not be the first of her books you read. She has so many more that are much more entertaining. (Her Seattle Sharks series is OK, but it is obvious how much she grew as an author between the first of that series and Axel.) Also, I think this series, as a whole, will be great, and reading this book will help the enjoyment of future ones in the series. -
OMG! How long have we been waiting for Asher's story.... and isn't it absolutely fitting that it should be the debut novel in Samantha Whiskey's new Billionaire' Game series?
I absolutely adore the man that Asher turns out to be, after given just a small nudge in the right direction by the amazing indie published romance author Daisy and a dare from another billionaire friend.
We already know some of Asher's motivations but they are highlighted with bell and whistles in this amazing novel.
Daisy is as far from the woman I'd imagined as Asher's love interest as it is possible to be. And that will be why I'm a reader and not a writer!
You will fall over yourself to devour this book but at the same time desperately keen to avoid it ending, it's that good!
Im certainly hooked on this new series and can't wait to see which billionaire is featured in the next 'Game'! -
Oh my gosh, I just finished this one and I just reeling I tell you, reeling.
This was an outstanding start to what is going to be a very amazing series. I can't wait to get each guys book! I am so excited that the poker game is really hard core in the book, since it was talked about in Logan I have wanted to know more. The details into both Asher and Daisy's career's and lives really made both characters come to life. I am always a fan of dual POV and this one is going to be on my audiobook list too. -
I Never Get Tired…
Of consuming absolutely everything Samantha Whiskey does and this book was no exception. I waited a while to dive in mostly because I’d spent the entire Reapers series crushing on Asher in the background, so my hopes were high. Needless to say, they were not let down, only surpassed.
The tension, the steam, the love between Asher and his Daisy are what dreams are made of. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect book for our Reapers owner.
On to the next! -
Asher is FINALLY here and this story was amazing!
I hoped, after we briefly met Daisy in this authors last book that Daisy would be the one to break through Asher's walls and she did that and more!
They are very much opposites attract and the chemistry between them is electric! I loved seeing more of Asher's sister again it's like catching up with family! Can't wait to see which Billionaire falls next! -

I was really enjoying this, it was a solid 4 stars up until that third act break-up. It honestly pissed me the fuck off, especially Daisy. I just felt like it was so unnecessary and forced.. kinda ruined the book for me a little.. :/ -
Finally Asher story and what a story it was. Asher & Daisy are absolutely amazing together and there connection is off the charts. Asher will definitely become your next book boyfriend. Truly an amazing read with characters that everyone will love.
