Twisted Love
Alex Volkov is a devil blessed with the face of an angel and cursed with a past he can't escape.

Driven by a tragedy that has haunted him for most of his life, his ruthless pursuits for success and vengeance leave little room for matters of the heart.

But when he's forced to look after his best friend's sister, he starts to feel something in his chest. A crack. A melt.

Twisted Games
Stoic, broody and arrogant, elite bodyguard Rhys Larsen has two rules: protect his clients at all costs and do not become emotionally involved. Ever.

He has never once been tempted to break those rules . . . until her.

Bridget von Ascheberg. A princess with a stubborn streak that matches his own and a hidden fire that reduces his rules to ash.

Twisted Hate
Gorgeous, cocky, and fast on his way to becoming a hotshot doctor, Josh Chen has never met a woman he couldn't charm - except for Jules f**king Ambrose.

The beautiful redhead has been a thorn in his side since they met, but she also consumes his thoughts in a way no woman ever has.

When their animosity explodes into one unforgettable night, he proposes a solution that'll get her out of his system once and for all: an enemies with benefits arrangement with simple rules.

Twisted Lies
Charming, deadly and smart enough to hide it, Christian Harper is a monster dressed in the perfectly tailored suits of a gentleman.

He has little use for morals and even less use for love, but he can't deny the strange pull he feels toward the woman living just one floor below him.

She's the object of his darkest desires, the only puzzle he can't solve. And when the opportunity to get closer to her arises, he breaks his own rules to offer her a deal she can't refuse.

I honestly have very mixed feelings about this series:

The 1st book was good ig, I just didn't like how quickly they got together, I feel like I would've enjoyed it more if the relationship was more developed. There wasn't really much personality to the characters, I feel like Alex was just the classic grumpy, doesn't like anyone kind of guy and Ava was kind of bland for me like I mean other than her dramatic past there wasn't much else to her. The smut was honestly rlly weird and it kind of disgusted me I just hate it when guys call the girls sluts during smut like why they gotta do that? Ava and Alex are my 2nd fav couple out of this series, but I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop more as the side characters in the other books.

Same with the 2nd book, it was kind of fast, I feel like people say its a slow-burn cuz its like over a couple of years but I wish instead of all the time jumps, we could see more of the anticipation, the angst and the tension building I feel like that would've made it much better. I didn't really like Rhys that much tbh like he was kind of boring, but like when he was with Bridget he was very whipped. They had a lot of cute moments together tho which I rlly liked and I loved how Bridget proves the sexist parliament guy wrong. Once again the smut in this series was kind of weird like one of the things Rhys says is "Remember in public you're my princess but in private you're my whore" and I just don't get why the guy's in this series gotta call the fmcs "thier" sluts or whores just whyyy, but other than that I liked the book I'm just not that big of a smut reader.

I absolutely hated the 3rd book tbh, it was very disappointing I was very excited to read about Jules and Josh's story but I hated them together like Jules was a bad bitch and she was better on her own like I absolutely hated Josh, he pissed me off especially after that one scene in chapter 46 😭 I can never forgive him for what he did. He didn't apologise or grovel enuf, Jules should've never taken him back. I absolutely HATED the smut sm like I couldn't even read it I just skipped it, I honestly just found it so disgusting. This was my definitely my least fav of the series.

The 4th book however was the best of the series. I honestly loved it sm. Everything about it was rlly good, I liked how this wasn't fast-paced like the other books, it was more of a slow-burn. The love interest (Christian) is my fav out of all of them he is morally grey but like in a good way? He even washed her hair for her and this was like before anything even happened between them. There were a lot of cute fluff moments which I loved, and the smut wasn't as weird as the others. I loved Christian and Stella together, they are definitely my favourite couple. The only part I didn;t like was the unveiling of the stalker, I just feel like it was underwhelming and anti-climactic, but it was still a pretty good book. I lovedd the epilogue, Alex calling his daughter 'Little Sunshine' fullfilled my heart. I feel like the epilogue was a very nice way to wrap up the series.

I don’t want to get into too much detail for each book but I liked the second book the most probably because Bridget rlly said “fuck the patriarchy”. The first book was ayt I only liked it because he resigned from his company to get her back and maybe bc the whole brothers best friend trope gets to me. The third book wasn’t it honestly, especially THAT scene when he fucks her and is just like “nah I don’t forgive you” and then after a while they get back together because she was in danger like girll did you suddenly forget what he did ??
The last book was great too! I liked that it wasn’t rushed and the tension between them was built, also his nickname for her is probably my favorite among them all. The ending was also satisfying and I’m glad she got to do what she always wanted!!

All in all, I’d recommend it to some people maybe not to all though.

    My Thoughts:
The Twisted Series is something that I will treasure forever. From the beginning of the stories, for each man and woman with whom they've been partnered, there's always a lesson that you've learned from them. Ava and Alex, Bridget and Rhys, Jules and Josh, then Stella and Christian—these characters are made with heart, and I just love each of them. They were written so flawedly and so unlovable, yet this book shows that even the unlovable can be lovable, and that's what I love about this series. Also, I'm actually inspired by the women here in this book; they followed their love and passion for what they did after they graduated college, plus they had men in their lives that supported them throughout their journey. I love the spicyness of each book, and I just love the little moments of each book as well.

Overall, I have mixed emotions, and everything in this book is so freaking adorable! An amazing storyline, great twists, and connections to all the characters. There are unforgettable spicy moments, and the characters are well written. It's a perfect read for Valentine's Day, and if you're looking for something hot and swoony, I think this one is for you.

    Twisted Love ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
    Spice 🌶🌶🌶
Grumpy X Sunshine, Brother’s Best Friend

I loved Alex and Ava’s relationship. It was so fun to see Alex slowly fall in love with Ava throughout the book. The groveling was the perfect amount. Everything was just 🤌 chef’s kiss. May have been the shortest book in the series, but it was a good one.

    Twisted Games ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
    Spice 🌶🌶🌶
    Princess X Bodyguard, Forbidden Love

The romance aspects were cute but my favorite part had to be Bridget being such a powerful woman. I loved how Rhys never once tried to hold her back from anything she wanted to do and always supported her. I loved Rhys, he seems like such a sweetheart behind the tough bodyguard personality he has.

    Twisted Hate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
    Spice 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Enemies to Lovers, Sister’s Best Friend, One Bed Trope

Can I just say, I was never a big fan of enemies to lovers and yet, this was my favorite book of the series? Josh has to be my favorite out of all the twisted men just because he has such a bright outgoing personality (contrast to the tough, rough ones like Alex and Rhys). Jules and Josh are such a power couple, a lawyer and a doctor? Their paychecks must look so nice. Anyways. I loved their dynamic, but I do feel like the enemies part of their relationship was short lived because they jumped to an enemies with benefits so fast. Also, the dates Josh planned for her? Literally my DREAM.

    Twisted Lies ⭐️⭐️⭐️
    Spice 🌶🌶
    Fake Dating, Slow Burn

I expected the series to end with a BANG. Was a little disappointed with this one. Was definitely a slow burn for sure, 300 pages in and they only kissed like thrice. Christian’s character disappointed me the most. It felt like another Alex but he didn’t do anything that impressed me. +I feel like he didn't really stick to his nickname with his girl as much as the others did

Overall, this series was a joy to read. I loved the character dynamics, the romance plots, and the empowering women there were.
I wish there was more variety (?) when it comes to the personalities of the guys. Everyone except for Josh (and Rhys sometimes) was a “tough and broody” guy. They were all really dominant and possessive (personally i don’t like possessive guys, but if that rows your boat, this is a good series for that). I do wish one of guys weren’t dominant just so it was something different, but even then, the books were enjoyable.

oh, and i am the #1 Josh Chen enthusiast

**WARNING! This review contains SPOILERS. Please refrain from reading it if you don't want to know what happens in the books.

I've seen a lot of criticism about the Twisted Series all over social media and Youtube. For some reason, although the books have a very good overall rating, so there must be good reviews, the negative ones pop up for me most often. I've read several negative reviews, and although I do see good points here and there, I also disagree with most of them.

I feel like one will either love these books or absolutely hate them. The tropes in these books are so specific that I can see why some people hate them - Brother's Best Friend, Best friend's Brother, Neighbours, Forced Proximity, Grumpy Sunshine, Billionaire, College Romance, You Touch Her You Die, Mafia Romance, Alpha Male. If any of these tropes sound unappealing to you, then this series might not be for you. If you do like these tropes, you will probably love this series.

For starters, I love how Ana Huang writes her characters. They all have their own personality and their own flaws and traumas. Most of them also have a detailed backstory which provides a lot of context. I love that all the women in these books are strong and independent, hard working women who changed their own lives and I love how the men in this book support their women wholeheartedly.

Another thing I loved about the series is how connected each of the books were and how you got to see the characters in previous books grow and develop as well. It was so much fun seeing this mismatched group of people go from college friends to adults managing their success and families. The highlight was absolutely reading about Alex with his children - My heart MELTED!

Ok so... the first book was my favorite, and Alex is just WOW. The plot was also the most interesting.
The socind book was my least favorite, though a lot of people will love the princess trope and everything.
Third book was a solid 4 stars because it was soo good, I love a good enemies to lovers situations. BUT twisted lies had me hooked. I could relate to Stella in so so many ways and well Christian... we don't have to talk about him, right? ;)) All in all, I had such a good time reading the series, and if you want to have a relaxing but spicy new series, I recommend it highly

    Twisted love 3.5/5
This one was alright. Alex was meh. Also their TRAUMA? Jeez these characters went through a lot 😭. It was one of the better ones in the series tho

    Twisted games 3/5
This one bored me for some reason. I think I just didn’t care for either of the characters. Also the time jumps were so huge like I gotta know what happened in between. Stuff happened but I was still bored for some reason but it wasn’t the worst.

    Twisted hate 4.99999/5
I absolutely loved this one. I read it in one day I could not put it down!! Loved josh and Jules. I had absolutely no complaints until chapter 46 which absolutely wrecked me. That’s the only thing keeping this book from 5 stars. But everything else was great I was obsessed. Josh was actually different from the other guys in this series. He wasn’t a grumpy millionaire so loved him for that.

    Twisted lies 2.5/5
Everyone told me this would be the best one but I didn’t like it for some reason. I wasn’t expecting to like it tbh cuz Stella didn’t seem interesting in the other books. Also Christian was unnecessarily stalker ish i was not into him at all.

Series gets a 4/5 mostly cuz Twisted Hate is in it and it’s just great

    Now, onto the books:

🧊 Twisted Love 🧊 | 1st book in the series
    My rating: ⭐️⭐️ (2 stars)

This is the first book in the series. In my honest opinion, this is the worst one, too. While Alex was a walking red flag, Ava was one of the nicest FMCs I've ever read. Together, they don't make a good couple. I just felt like Ava truly deserved someone better.

The plot was okay. But honestly, maybe it's because of Alex that I rated this book two stars. His appearances in the other books were fine. All I could say: he was a good character except in his OWN book. ✌️ And the only thing I loved about Alex was his friendship with Josh.

But that's it. Ava deserves better. 🤚

👑 Twisted Games 👑 | 2nd book in the series
    My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 stars)

Hands down, the BEST book in the series. I loved how TG tackled everything. There was balance between internal and external conflict. The amount of spice alone made my entire year. And Rhys 👏 wow, I'm speechless. I know he has a bland personality. But honestly, he's forgiven because his character development with Bridget was EXCELLENT.

There's nothing negative about this book. Maybe the time jumps were a little emphasized, but it's part of the story so I'm here for it. ✨️ I'd recommend this book all the time. 😌

💋 Twisted Hate 💋 | 3rd book in the series
    My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5 stars)

I know I said that Twisted Games was the best book in the series. But Twisted Hate is MY FAVORITE. The tension. The banter. The inside jokes. I'm here for it! The only reason why this book didn't meet the five-star mark was because Josh needed to grovel more. But that's it!

While TG focused more on the external plot, TH dived into the very core of the characters themselves. Their fears, motives, goals. I very much love how Josh and Jules transformed into the best version of themselves. I can't believe I witnessed how my babies fell in love in the process of hating each other. 🥺❤️

Bonus points, too, because this book LITERALLY made me laugh, cry, and squeal like a schoolgirl. #KILIG !!! I love this book and I will bury this with me in my grave. 🙏🪦🪦

ALSO, I need to point out: Josh didn't deserve all the hate he's getting from the fans of this series.

🚩 Alex literally played, betrayed, and used Ava and her family for revenge.
🚩 Christian literally stalked Stella for years and used this to make her fall for him.

And you're mad at Josh for acting the way he did when Jules lied to him, too? 🤚😔 I'm not tolerating any Josh slander here. If you hate him, feel free to block/unfollow me because I will DEFEND my husband for life! 💪

🦋 Twisted Lies 🦋 | 4th book in the series
    My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 stars)

This is the book that disappointed me the most. I expected SO much from Christian and Stella's story. But clearly, it didn't meet my standards.

There were some parts of this book that I liked. One is Mr. Unicorn. And two, the fact that Josh and Jules made an appearance a couple of times and THEY WERE ENGAGED.

But other than that, I don't feel so much passion for Stella and Christian. There were so many stuff going on in the story. And Christian was dumb enough not to find out who the stalker was until the end of the book.

    📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖

That's it! I hope you enjoyed my little review/recap of what I think about this series. Overall, I really enjoyed reading these books for two months. It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I'd never trade it for anything else. 🥰

Ana, you are AMAZING and you bet I'd be reading more of your books! I honestly can't wait for Vivian and Dante in the King of Wrath. I'm already hyperventilating just thinking about them. 🥲💗

Twisted Love was a good introduction into the series. It was a nice build up. I liked the character development of Alex and reading what was going on in his mind and what went on in his childhood. The plot was shocking. I thought the end after the plottwist was not as strong as I expected it to be. I didnt mind the singing part but more so how long it took for her to forgive him. The whole book felt like a roller coaster with loops and fast parts and then the end i felt like it was too slow and we were riding back. The smut was great, especially the hotelroom scene! My personal ick is calling women sl*ts & wh*res even if its during sexy times but hey. Overall liked this book. 4⭐️

Twisted Games had me on chokehold. I was holding my breath every other chapter. The build up felt slow (until you read twisted lies) but it was soooo worth it. I felt like this one had more deep connection and better conversation. The pool scene where he told her about his mom, and she was like let me kiss your wounds, heal his inner child Queen!! 🥹 I was CONVINCED that Rhys was a secret royal somehow, because I couldnt bear the fact that they couldnt be together. The smut was much more sophisticated and overall Rhys is the best of the men in this series. 5⭐️

Twisted Hate. Jules is my favorite girl out of the series. She was a boss babe, her background story was amazing. There were enough moments where we went into the deep with her background & current way of life. Josh was great, there were so many cute moments, the picnicccccc but also the conversations between them. I personally didnt mind the part where he ‘lied’, which everyone hates. It wasnt like he killed his uncle or anything 🤪 his background story build up was also great. I just loved how they both had their own scenes without eachother where the storyline was deep. I was so into this one, I didnt want it to end. The smut was fire. Honestly the best out of all I think. Maybe because they both were the most relatable, as the other guys are wealthy and such, you know what I mean? 5 ⭐️

Twisted Lies. My expectations were HIGH for this one, as it’s everyone favorite on Booktok. I didn’t quiet see why Christian OR this book is everyones fave. I felt like I had no knowledge of Christian (just like Stella) there was not enough background or character development. Everyone was scared of this guy, but I didnt understand why. Like there was not enough character development. Up until the end where he does some dangerous and illegal stuff to people, I felt like those should be more in the beginning to develop his ‘dangerous’ character. I didnt quiet understand why people didnt trust him, as he was a sweet guy towards Stella, unlike how Alex had his cold moments towards Ava in Twister Love. I give Christian credits tho for not calling Stella a wh*re during the smut 👍🏼⭐️
Stella was cuteness, such a sweet girl. I meltttted away whenever Christian would call Stella Butterfly, that was the CUTEST. However I felt like the build up was the slowest of this series, and I wish we had more scenes of them being together and such. Also I dont get why people call Christian a stalker, as he is a cyber-developer and does backgroundchecks on everyone. I felt like it fits the character and didnt understand why Stella was so upset. I mean the guy is ‘dangerous’ and had a lot of enemies right? He HAS to do backgroundchecks of everyone who can potentially hurt him. So yeah. Don’t be a puss about it 🫢 I will give this one a 4,5 ⭐️

Now let’s start the Kings of Sin series!! 👑

  • Snape’s Toenails

    Very very worth the hype.
Best book series I’ve read so far.
    The writing is amazing.

    TWISTED LOVE:
    8.8/10
    Ava x Alex

    -Brother’s best friend.
    -Hate to love.
    -Morally grey
    -CEO, billionaire
    -Grumpy x Sunshine
    -Lies

Look, I definitely love them and Alex is just as perfect as everyone says.
BUT, I just think the story is too short. Wish there’d been more.

    TWISTED GAMES:
    10/10 no complaints
    Bridget x Rhys

    -Bodyguard x Princess
    -Forbidden
    -Royalty
    -Hate to love

Rhys is perfect. Bridget is perfect, they’re all perfect.
The smut is ∞/10. Daddy Rhys fucks so good.
I’d crawl 5 miles to Rhys.
“In public you’re my princess, in private you’re my whore” “Crawl to me”
I can’t tell you how much I screamed internally.

    TWISTED HATE:
    9/10
    Jules x Josh

    -Hate to love
    -Enemies to lovers
    -Bests friend’s brother
-Sex arrangement/deal, idk the proper name

Out of all the twisted men, I love Josh the most, despite Rhys being so perfect.
Well it’s only my personal opinion, cuz to me humor matters a lot ok? I love Josh.
Jules and Josh hate each other.
They make a sex arrangement/deal and slowly fall in love.

It’s all good and all and I was about to declare this my fave twisted book, UNTIL the scene where Jules returns the painting. Look, all I’m saying is, despite Josh being wrong during that scene, Jules was also in the wrong. But in the end only Josh apologized, I was waiting for Jules’ apology but it never came. I think in these situations, when both made mistakes, they should both apologize, and not only the guy.

This is the major factor this book is not perfect. Nonetheless, I love the enemies to lovers trope and Jules and Josh are amazing.

    TWISTED LIES:
    ∞/10 IT’S FUCKING PERFECT
    Stella x Christian

    -Fake dating
    -CEO, billionaire
    -Morally grey
    -Whipped since day one
    -Obsessed with her
    -Lies

OK THIS BOOK IS JUST PERFECT.
FAVE IN THIS SERIES AND MIGHT EVEN BE FAVE OF ALL BOOKS.
I LOVE IT WHEN HE’S WHIPPED SINCE BEFORE DAY ONE.
    I LOVE MORALLY GREY MEN.
I LOVE THE TENSION IN FAKE DATING.
NO FUCKING COMPLAINTS I JUST LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

    Overall:
    Definitely recommend.
    Worth the fucking hype.
    Finished it in 4 days.
    Love it.
Twisted games and twisted lies are the best.
Anna Huang is an amazing author.

  • Elissa

    I loved this series.
    Rundown:
Twisted love: I loved Ava's personality and the classic brother's best friend trope. Ava has dealt with a lot of trauma but her peronality is amazing. I know Alex is meant to be the strong, icey guy but for a main character getting to know him would have been better. He also deals with a lot of things with violence. The plot twist at the end came out of the blue I have to admit. Overall, I liked this book. 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐
Twisted Games: I have never read a bodyguard romance, and let me tell you this book was amazing! We get to learn about the pressure put on princess Bridget for this very big situation and get to see what royalty is like through her eyes. We also get to learn about Rhys and his desire to be with Bridget whilst trying to maintain a distance to not fall. This book was amazing and so was the character development. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Twisted Hate: I loved seeing the enemies to lovers trope between Ava's best friend and brother, Josh and Jules. I did find that when they first had sex it was a bit out of the blue. Learning about what Jules' went through as a child and teen etc really shows you what she has been through and what an amazing friend she is to Ava. The bickering can get annoying at times and the slow burn was hard to get through, but it eventually was worth it for what we got in the end. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Twisted Lies: Stella is a complete girl boss. She is relatable, especially when you find out the plot for this book. Christian is a bit like Alex which makes it hard to like him but eventually gives some details at the end. He is also a bit creepy, especially with some obessive shit he says about Stella. I liked this book but Christian was a bit too similar to Alex. 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Saw it on book tok, everyone spoke of Alex Volkov and yes, he is bae. I think the first book is great, plotline and characters though the ending was a slight slower pace. Great betrayal plot, gave me mafia vibes despite Alex only being a CEO with great connections, handsome and smart Alex who can re-watch his own memories... wow, such a unique and attractive character. The book was entertaining all round and I wish there was more, it was the smallest book in the series. -Twisted Love-

Then it was the bodyguard(Rhys) and the princess(Bridget), loved certain elements ovee othes and it is a great book with a good plot and great spice but it's not my favourite out of the series. It's a royal plotline, a good one but a tend to go for a little more darker of a storyline. -Twisted Games-

If Alex Volkov is Bae, then Josh Chen is Daddy. Wicked spice. Great plot, love Jules background and her overall character, she's strong, smart and independent. I loved her. The only downside to this story was the scene where Josh says... "I lied" Because wow the betrayal and how he did it, I mean there's a point where I crosses a line and I was fully on Jules' side... they make up though and they're such a powerful couple. -Twisted Hate-

Then, the final book, I thought for sure Christain was the stalker so whoops. Great character as love interest, loved their dynamic but loved that all the book boyfriends and their girls constantly popped up in this book and had such a happy ending, the biggest book in the series and one of my utter favourites. -Twisted Lies-

So, yes. I recommend this series. I bought the paperbacks, it's great, exactly what book tok promised. -Twisted Series- 4 Book Set

    TW: Bad Language

I’m going to talk about how this series is a literal fucking abomination to women. I’ve rated these books before and that was before i’ve learned abt women in society and how truly fucked we are about men.

This whole series is a mocking statement to women and what angers me more is that A WOMAN wrote it.

There are so many issues with these books and the fact they are being promoted actually angers me.

For example here are the issues with Twisted Hate:
    - Josh literally sexualises Jules by calling her Jessica Rabbit, meaning this book is conforming to the stereotype of women being sexualised by men.
    - Josh shags her and then says I lied. He used her for sex.
    - There was NO grovelling whatsoever. Jules let him back into her life in a heartbeat, which conforms to the stereotypes that women are easy, men shouldn’t grovel, women need men.
and the excuses people use for his actions are ridiculous “she stole from him” yeah because she was running from her past which was not his business.

What makes it worse is the fact Ana in no way a feminist because if she was she wouldn’t promote this monstrosity of work.

The fact she made videos on her tiktok saying “well it’s my books i don’t care and if you don’t like men degrading women you shouldn’t read it” but WHY ARE YOU WRITING IT?!

It’s so fucking disappointing reading books written by women who are conforming to society’s negative female stereotypes.

Honestly this series is fucking disgusting and it’s a shame that people don’t realise that.

Finally the review of bookstagrams/booktoks beloved twisted series. I'm not going to review each book firstly because there's heaps of reviews out there. Secondly I usually don't write review of the contemporary romances, I love reading them I just don't review them often.

Each of the book in the series follows a trope like twisted love is opposite attract and twisted hate is enemies to lovers. Huangs writing style is very contemporary and easy to read. The stories are inter connected with all characters and backstories plays a part in grand scheme of things. They can be read as standalones but the book experience is best when read as a series. I loved each couple and their love stories and that each book was slow burn with enough spice to keep things interesting. The FMCs were not damsels and were strong characters. The MMCs has alpha male /bad boy persona with right amount of spiciness.

The stories are majorly slow burn romances with a touch of suspense at the end. The writing and base are not something new, actually all the plots are very common in contemporary romances genre but it still manages to entertain you. My favorite book from the series is Twisted love maybe because its the first book and the couple is hotter than fire!
The stories are definitely 18+ reads with lots of spice and profanity.
Overall definitely a good read but only if you are a romance reader and love reading spicy books.
