As an omega, Kade's purpose is to mate with an alpha and carry children. Years on the run have stolen that from him and ravaged his body. A chance meeting with his fated mate has Kade asking if Blake could be the one to heal his heart as well as his wolf. But what kind of alpha would accept a damaged omega?
Meeting his fated was a dream come true for Blake, but Kade keeps him at arm's length. Blake doesn't need Kade to trust all alphas, just that Blake would never harm an omega, especially his prickly, reluctant mate.
His Reluctant Omega Mate contains mpreg and discussions surrounding the past abuse of several characters. There is some on page violence, a kidnapping, and discussions about infertility. Omegas sometimes have it hard but Blake is a cinnamon roll of an alpha who wants to give them the world.

Like DJ Khaled would say: another one. š®āšØš®āšØ
This was going fine, I was on board with the world building, all the creatures, all the drama.
And then shit hit the fan, I mean: Your main character has obviously been abused in some sort of way and doesn't trust easily, doesn't make friends because he's careful and etcetera.
Then alpha comes in his orbit and he literally goes:
Alpha: what do u need?
Omega: I need you to fuck me.
š¤Æš¤Æš¤Æ I kid u not!!!! Who is this character? Where did he came from? I KNOW IS A SHIFTER BOOK, I knowwww *groans*, but it was going so well I had hopes damn it! š¢
I should have known better, and I'm not even gonna go into the weird situation and the bear Shifter, I didn't finish so I'll never understand what the author had in mind with that.
Nope. -
4.5 stars. What an awesome story, with great world-building. It was exactly how I love my stories with a pack, fated mates, Alpha, Omega, and mpreg reads. Itās hugely entertaining, it has hot heat scenes, devoted mates, and a wonderful caring pack, who had to work hard to keep evil outside, there are harsh moments.
Kade has an evil father, he saw an opportunity to escape. Six years have gone by and still, he has to look over his shoulder.
Finding a new pack was already great, finding his fated mate was more than overwhelming.
Blake is the alpha of the Sweetwater pack, they have to protect the omegaās and keep random alphaās outside.
There seems to be an alpha on their land with bad intentions, looking for a particular omega.
Blake meets Kade at the omega Heatwave, and itās clear that they are fated mates. Blake is thrilled to meet his mate. Kade has trouble staying away from Blake, everything in him screams to bond with him. He has to keep him at arm's length and keep him out of his complicated life.
Keeping Kade safe is Blakeās new purpose in life. Kade needs it hard!
I donāt want to give too much away about the story, itās intriguingly complicated, and not easy not spoiling the plot line. Believe me, itās all well written and well thought out.
There are enough complications to make it a thrilling story, as counterbalance we can enjoy a lot of hot encounters, sweetness, and pack interactions.
Overall a super entertaining story, different aspects are well balanced. I enjoyed it all very much!
I can't wait to read more about this pack! -
Of course I'm going to give my author self 5 stars. I worked really hard on this and loved writing it. I just hope readers enjoy it.

TikTok did not less me astray for once! I loved this and need more Kade & Blake ASAP

My first book by Jax Stuart and it certainly wont be my last, especially as she has stated there are more books planned in this series. Pleaseeee may Axel get his way and have his own book. This is my reader heart putting that into the universe. But back to Kade and Blake whom this particular series opener was about.
I loved how Blake was such a sweet alpha. He had his typical alpha moments, but most of the time he was just a kind and loving partner. He even went so far as to get advice from other omegas so he was doing all that he could to be a good mate. Blake was always checking in with Kade to make sure he was comfortable and that went a long way to soothing Kade's misgivings about being mated. Kade's past has certainly made him weary of alphas, and with damn good reason. I didn't blame him for wanting to take things slow with Blake, fated or not.
The side characters were all very likable, especially Axel, Dakota, and Chase. I enjoyed how Dakotas story line unfolded. I was very uncertain of him at first along with Kade. I even thought he may turn out to be a true villian in the story. The way it was written was almost like myself as reader saw the light along with Kade and how wrong our assumptions were. I'm exceptionally happy his story is next, though I do not think his will be an easy road. If I thought Kade was skittish about mates, he's got nothing on Dakotas fated. I can't wait to see how it all plays out. -
i don't have a word for how much this book irritated me. its definitely one of those books that try too hard.
-
This book was so sweet. I enjoyed this story. I am also a sucker for shifters and Alphas with marshmallow middles. The characters of Kade and Blake were amazing and so believable. Kade has a hard time trusting alphas because of his past. Blake is not your typical Alpha. Yes he is Alpha of the Sweetwater pack, but he wants what is best for ALL of his pack mates, not just fellow alphas. He is working hard to rebuild and to change the way all omegas and female betas are treated. He has a lot to prove and I love how even though he was hesitant at first, Kade gave him the chance to show that he was different. There is a lot of build up to this story but it all sets the stage for the events of the second half of the book. This was my first book by this author but it wonāt be my last. I am looking forward to seeing how the Sweetwater pack grows. I also love the cinnamon rolls that are both Blake and Dakota, I would like to see both Dakota and Roan get some kind of happy ending as well.

It was going well until we hit the 70/80% mark and a new POV starts. Then later another one gets introduced. It works fine for the storyline and I thought it was supposed to setup for books in the next series. But then in the author note, she says next book is still the same couple - why!? and more babies? -again, why? It thought this was decent enough of MPREG because the babies doesn't show up since that part of MPREG I can't careless about. Then the next books may not be about the two POV she's put in the book? Then that means this two POV are extra and just used because she's written herself into a corner and can't tell the story any other way? anyway, starts off well enough, but now I'm not so keen to continue the series.

DNF @ 7%.
The writing isnāt working for me. Thereās issues with punctuation, both where it is missing and included where it shouldnāt be, that makes some parts hard to follow. The same things are repeated, just said a different way. Thereās like two pages telling me about ordering pizza and tidying the house while waiting for it. Thereās random info drops of things that donāt really seem relevant, which being deliberately vague bout the MCsā background. -
loved the first 3/4 of the book. i was sure that it would be one of my favorites. but one of my biggest pet peeves is when random characters get their POVs. it feels like lazy writing and i really donāt want to see their POVs.
so yeah.
but iāll still give a chance to the next one. -
DNF. I just canāt seem to get into it. The writing style isnāt doing it for me, and it just isnāt pulling me in at all.

Long, boring. Emotional whiplash. Skimmed it

(18+ Only. Lots of steam and TWs)
Oh wow, this story was an amazing surprise. This is my first time reading Jax Stuart and I already want book two and three!
Fans of Fated Mates, Omegaverse and shifters should add this book to your TBR immediately. The worldbuliding and story was so good.
Kade is an Omega wolf shifter who is on the run from his horrible past. Finally situated in a town and trying to stay out of the spotlight, he believes he might be able to call this place home. It isn't until the magic that is keeping him safe backfires and makes him ill, that things go into perspective for him. From there, he meets his fated mate, makes genuine friendships and realizes what it means to be pack again.
I loved all the main characters and a lot of the side characters in this story. Alpha Blake is a charming kind soul who wants to treat his pack right. (He is also super hot! š„) Blake wants every member to feel valued and safe. I also found myself highly invested in the side characters Dakota and Roan. And even Blake's brothers and cousin.
I adored the friendship between Dakota and Kade. Dakota is a bear shifter and I absolutely loved him. Their friendship reminded me of the old shifter stories I used to read when I was younger. Wolves are pack animals and Kade is touch starved. Cuddling up to sleep with your pack is very healing and comforting for most shifter lore. I loved that Dakota's bear could give Kade that comfort he needed while keeping things platonic! Even though Kade couldn't fully communicate with his wolf, Dakota's bear was there for him. And I found it very enduring. (So non-shifter readers don't be thrown by platonic cuddling! It's a pack thing.)
Overall I was impressed with this story. The first half gave me everything I needed in a shifter book and the last half had its own twists and turns that kept me flipping pages.
TW: Be sure to read the full triggers for things like off page past abuse, hurt/comfort and steamy heat scenes that will light your book on fire. š„š„š„ -
His Relunctant Omega Mate is a fantastic Omega/Alpha pairing with fantastic world building and character depth. Kade is an Omega that has a tough backstory, treated horribly by his dad. Blake is the Alpha of the Sweetwater Pack. Heās a sweetheart, tender but tough when he needs to be. Blake has a great family and he takes care of the Omegas in his pack. Kade has never known that type of care. There is quiet a large group of secondary characters that are really likeable. The world building has been well plotted so that you can figure out possible future stories. Iām excited for Dakotaās story. The pacing is well done and flows so well that I couldnāt put it down. I had the honor of reading this as an Alpha reader and kept bugging the author for more because it was sooo good! There are a few twists and turns and a few bad guys to deal with. Overall, a truly phenomenal read that is sooo very well written and addicting to read!!!

Wolf issues
This wasn't a great book.and the issues really seemed to come down to the characters. While Blake was interesting, really dealing with building a pack back up after years of problems and now figuring out complications with a mate, Kade was not so great. Even though Kade had a difficult past it seemed a bit much how fickle and angry he would get. He essentially switches over entirely on who he trusts and is close to during the book and some of the reasoning felt a bit like he just preferred the type of attention, but then blamed it on others. It wasn't enjoyable reading about Kade which took away from the story. Add in that it was also sort of slow and boring feeling, despite everything happening, and it just wasn't a great book overall. -
A
Joyfully Jay review.
3.5 stars
His Reluctant Omega Mate is the first book in Jax Stuartās Sweetwater Pack series and my introduction to the authorās work. This is a cute story that sets up the series nicely and gives us a chance to get to know the pack. This world has a lot of the familiar beats of omegaverse stories, but I liked the addition of magic, as well as the various types of shifters incorporated into the world building. However, I did find some of the world building confusing at times, such as they way things work at the heat club, and some problems get smoothed over with convenient or easy explanations (such as why the council knows about all Kadeās fatherās misdeeds but canāt stop him or arrest him). But overall, I think the world building worked for the story, even if it isnāt super detailed or developed.

Smutty omegaverse mm paranormal romances are now my vice. This defintely didn't have a enough smut for me and some weird character choices since while I liked Kade a lot I guess him losing his marbles in his heat was an interesting choice cause it was such a 180. However, the whole heatwave chapter in itself was the best chapter of the book bc we got the most steam. I am hoping we get more steam in the follow up books and I am hoping that this is a longer term series cause I would hate to get invested only for it to be dropped.
As a whole I liked this a lot but can't rate this on the same level I would rate The Poppy War by RF Kuang for example so I give most of the romance books I read a 3 so that is not personal to this book or author, but I do think there were inconsistencies that kept it from being higher. -
I really enjoyed this story. Mpreg is my favourite and so happy to have found it here. Kade lives on the outskirts between a human and shifter community. With the councils help he got a new identity after a traumatic experience and was keeping a low profile. Blake is the new alpha of Sweetwater trying to make improvements to the pack structure. They meet and both realize they are mates. Even though Kade is reluctant to bond, they slowly get to know each other. This is their story of how they got together and how Blake helped overcome Kadeās past. Loved it and cannot wait for Dakotaās book.
I received a copy of this book for my review. -
Was in the mood for someĀ mpregĀ and Iām so glad I picked this one cos I really enjoyed it.
I totally enjoyed Blake the most - a loving, patient and extremely considerate alpha ā though strong and protective when he needed to be - he was just awesome ā¦šĀ
Kade however, at first, I found him to be a very conflicted character ā especially in the first half and I found him and Dakota being too close to each other for my liking.Ā
Iāve always enjoyedĀ omegaverseĀ smut and this did not disappoint cos the sex was smoking hotā¦š„
I definitely enjoyed the storyline as well as the secondary characters and will definitely be looking forward to the rest of this seriesā¦šš

What a ride! Totally read it in one setting, because I was in a mood for some fated mates story and I had just received this one. Great story. It is very emotional and somewhat deep. The plot is rather predictable, but it is still satisfying to see villains punished and heroes overcoming obstacles and even thriving. The ending is all gooey sweetness, but that is the best part of any candy and books too. The characters are very complex in this one. Their emotions are deep and almost painful in intensity. While I could see right away how it will play out, I still continued reading avidly, because I felt rather attached to the characters and the writing was good. You know the writing is good when you don't even notice typos, am I right? Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and the next ones promise to be just as good.
**I was provided an ARC of this book from the GRR for an honest review** -
I liked this book. It was a good structured omegaverse that had me wanting to know how it turned out, from Kadeās health issues, to Kade and Blakeās relationship, to what the bad guy had planned. It was interesting and had me reading to the end ā plus wanting to read what comes next. There were a few surprised and a few things you knew would happen ā itās a romance after all, it didnāt feel forced.

It was so nice to see Kade find an alpha that was good and caring. These two both needed each other so much. Blakeās care and patience helped to heal Kadeās scars from his past and Kade gave Blake the person to love and care for as just his own. Kade ended up loving the pack just as much as Blake does and I look forward to seeing how they help to change the shifter world.

Great start
What a great start to a new omegaverse with just the right amount of angst to keep you intrigued as well as the perfect setup for more stories to be told. Kade and Blake are the perfect Alpha Pair in being able to install new wisdom from their history's to build a better, stronger pack for future families to build.
Love how accepting Blake is of everything that may come with being with a omega that hasn't had an easy life and even better love how strong Kade is even though he has been through so much in such a short life.
Can't wait to see what comes next from this world. -
I LOVED IT!!!
This is a WONDERFUL new series. As Book #1 this is the introduction to this new AMAZING Sweetwater Pack. Blake is the new and young Alpha Leader. This pack is struggling with their reputation from Blake's fathers rule over the pack. As the new Alpha, change is in the wind. Kade is an Omega on his own and doing the best he can to stay under the radar. It's better to read than me chance giving out spoilers. I really enjoyed this Book. I love the first Book of a new series. According to the Author JAX STUART Book #2 is well on its way. This is exciting. This has a happily ever after but it was a journey for Kade to come to terms with his life. It's very well written and the characters are relatable and lovable. I'm looking forward to more in the future. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!! -
ARC received from GRR for an honest review.
Kade is on the run from his abusive father. He's been taking heat suppressants and using magic to mask his omega scent for so long that he's perpetually sick and tired. He's dodging his boss Dakota, who's a little too forward, and missing his so-called BFF Isaac. On his last delivery for the day Kade is forced to meet the Sweetwater Alpha since he's trying to enter their territory using the scent blocker. When he arrives in the alpha's office he immediately recognizes his mate and then faints.
Blake is the Sweetwater Alpha that's trying to get the pack back in shape after his father ran it into the ground and his uncle and cousin did nothing to recover it. When he's made aware that a delivery man is trying to enter their territory using scent blockers, he instructs his enforcer to bring the man to him. When the man enters his office he immediately notices something off about the man but doesn't have time to wander as the man promptly faints. When they take Kade to the hospital things start coming to light and Blake realizes that Kade is his mate.
Blake and Kade have really good chemistry and their sexy times are hot. I liked that Blake saw Kade's worth in himself and not just a baby making factory. I liked that Blake took Kade's insecurity into consideration and asked him to date, to get to know each other; instead of just pulling the I'm the alpha you're mine routine. The supporting characters are all well fleshed out and used well in the story. I really liked how Dakota came to realize that Kade wasn't going to be his and decided to be his friend and support him in his time of need. I liked how the story wraps up and the little twist in the end for Dakota and Roan. I really want to read more books in this series. There are some instances that are heavy and dark but I think they are well written. They may be a trigger for some so definitely read the warnings. -
I really enjoyed Kade's and Blake's story.
Due to a horrific incident in his past omega Kade is extremely wary of alphas.
Blake, a young alpha, who took over his pack at a very young age, is one cinnamon roll of an alpha determined to make sure his fated mate is happy, safe and feels loved.
I love how the relationship between Kade and Blake develops. There is instant attraction but Kade needs time and Blake is so very patient with him. Blake gives Kade time and space to learn to trust again to and heal. He is such a gentle soul ā„ļø
This book includes mentions of abuse and violence in the past and a kidnapping.
This story is very well written, some parts quite suspenseful and the characters are very charismatic (can't wait for Kota's and Jasper's book). -
so good
This was what Iāve been waiting for!! I love a great shifter story. While they were fated they still had to get to know each other before they committed. There was suspense happening in the background, and there was love. So much love. Friend love brother love parent love pack love and the best, mate love. The journey was one they fought for. There was fun and there were tears. The writing was amazing. Had me drawn into the story quickly. The smexy was HAWT. All the things I need in shifter mating. Heats, knot and more. The side characters were awesome. I canāt wait for the next book but am so hopeful the others will get there HEA. -
So I will start off in saying this is the first omegaverse book I have ever read. I loved it so much Kade and Blake were adorable together, Blake was so sweet. I'm really looking forward to read book two.
-
First book Iāve read by this author but it definitely wonāt be my last.
I thought Kade would end up with one person only to be wrong, as things veered off to another direction.
Blake was a sweet and patient with Kade. He didnāt rush or push him.
Dakota was destined to meet Kade but fate had different plans for him. Things became clearer towards the end and I couldnāt be more happier. He was a grumpy, gentle giant whose heart was full of love. Can he win his mateās trust and heart?
I really enjoyed this one, looking forward to book 2.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's* -
Omegaverse fated mates plus a lot more.
Abuse, violence, death, kidnapping, traitors, political upheaval, plus an intense love story with so much steamy sex it borders on extreme. The end is a series of happy events, with the promise of more to come in book 2.
