Marketer Kelly Dawson took herself out of the dating game after a failed engagement. She let a good friend talk her into a blind date. Some friend. Her date was late, and the time Kelly spent waiting on her was a better time than the half hour they spent together.
Alyssa Tyler is just helping out in her parents' busy diner. An MBA candidate and future general manager of a Starlite Diner mini empire, she's usually completely focused on operations and not on the front-end customer experience. Her focus changes when a gorgeous butch gets seated in her section for the lunch rush.
Kelly's failed date is dispatched away quickly, but the journey to love for her and Alyssa won't be as easy as pie.

Cute short story. I thought the cute meet was fun. Kelly Dawson meets a set up date at a popular diner for lunch. The date is very high maintenance and it is quickly apparent there isn’t a connection. Alyssa Tyler is finishing her MBA and is helping with plans to grow her parents diner. On a busy day she helps out while waitressing and rescues Kelly from a miserable date prospect. There is a little more to the story beyond that but at only 42 pages there isn’t much that can be developed. I would gladly have read a full length novel with these characters but there isn’t much more to comment about. I read it because I was referred to it from another author's newsletter and it was free on KU.

A simple story of right place right time and love blooms.
What a fabulous short story. I love Kelly and Alyssa meet in the most sweetest way but their warm connection makes everything a delight. It was just too short. What a treat. -
Sweet
What a sweet short story. Kelly decides to go on a blind date in a diner that is set up by a friend. Kelly doesn’t know until later why she’s set up on a blind date. We learn later and it just makes the story come alive. Love the ending which is why we have the title name. Wonderfully sweet. -
4 stars. Very cute novella. Kelly is set up on a blind date from hell but while at the diner she meets Alyssa. I liked both characters a lot and I wish we could've gotten a bit more development of their relationship before the ending of the story. Everything felt rushed in those last couple of pages but other than that this was light and sweet.
