Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way from being an invisible wallflower. Her hard work and immaculate planning have paid off now that she’s a prominent socialite, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been bumps along the way. Less than a year since her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber is still at the top of the Bishops Harbor community pecking order, free to do as she wishes while Jackson sits in prison. But that freedom is quickly coming to an end. With Jackson getting released from prison, Amber’s time—and money—is vanishing.
Meanwhile, Daphne Parrish left Bishops Harbor after her divorce from Jackson Parrish, swearing she would never go back. But when one of her daughters runs away from home, desperate to see her father, Daphne agrees to return for the summer to allow him supervised visits. Once out of prison, Jackson swears he’s a changed man, but Daphne knows all too well that he can’t be trusted.
When a ghost from Amber’s past emerges looking for revenge, the three of them find unlikely allies in one another, but who is playing who? When all is said and done, they’ll have to fight tooth and nail for everything they have left in this zero-sum game.
With shocking turns and entertaining characters, The Next Mrs. Parrish will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about duplicity and betrayal.
The Next Mrs. Parrish (Mrs. Parrish, #2) Reviews

Do yourself a favor and MAKE SURE you read The First Shot novella prior to reading this one. Okay, onto the review!!
If you’ve been following me for any length of time you know how much I LOVED The Last Mrs Parrish and I am so so thrilled that I got an early copy to the sequel. Thank you to the publisher!!!
This book lived up to my expectations and hopes and then surpassed them. I loved our three narrators and the different aspects of the story we gleaned from each of them. The writing was superb, as I’ve come to rely on these writers for. Fans of the first book will be very happy to see a sequel which is just as well done as the original.
Both the original book & this sequel will forever be in my list of top recommendations to give. The suspense they offer is like no other, and if you haven’t picked them up yet….what are you waiting for? -
Well, I'm addressing the elephant in the room before starting my review (and no, I'm not talking about my husband watching soccer in our living room—he's more like a Teddy bear than an elephant). Many readers might think "The Last Mrs. Parrish" was a complex, argumentative thriller with mixed reviews, and the main characters were honestly detestable enough to rub anyone the wrong way. So, why did the queens of domestic thrillers decide to go for a sequel, and why should readers give those very unlikable characters another chance?
Here's my answer: I was one of the reviewers who had hard feelings about the first book. My criticism wasn't solely focused on the first book's longevity, with a bit of boring, dragged-out chapters, including lengthy dialogues between characters without any incidents occurring or the characters' high level of despicability. The message that you get what you deserve, initiated with domestic violence, truly irritated me, even though it happened to the most cunning femme fatale in the fictional world. That's why I had second thoughts about the sequel, just like most readers might have. But I always have faith in this smart thriller duo, and this new book proved me right.
I think you should definitely read this thriller that I was so close to giving five stars. However, I still lowered my grade because of the hate I have for Jackson and Amber's characters. Each time their characters appeared, I felt my facial expression change in disgust, and I couldn't help myself—they are created to be the worst kind of human disposables. Anyway, let's stick to the point: this book is intelligently written, well-balanced, a twisty domestic thriller with powerful mind games that shock you at each progress. Luckily, we have not only Daphne, who may be the only likable character from the first book but also Daisy Ann, another vindictive Texan woman seeking justice. She is the character we can root for. I wish her involvement in the big scheming game could be a little sooner, but the authors first gave a summary of the events of the first book and showed us how the characters moved on with their lives.
Another thing I enjoyed in this book was that there were no repetitive, long dragged-out parts in this new sequel. Everything sticks to the point. The pacing is riveting and intriguing. The twists are unpredictable and smart. You keep crossing your fingers, hoping the beasts don't win the long game, biting your nails to the bit after devouring an entire bowl of popcorn (three times at least). The anticipation gets higher as you find yourself screaming for justice!
And the ending is so delicious that it makes you have loud, villainous laughs! So, my friends, don't have second thoughts. If you have negative thoughts about the first book, just like me, forget about it and give this sequel a chance because it's really good, gripping, riveting, stimulating, keeping you on your toes! And it's really smart, well-developed, and greatly executed!
Here's a recap of the plot: After sending her husband to prison for tax evasion, Amber Patterson Parrish (even though this is not her real name) perfectly built a life in Bishops Harbor as the new Mrs. Parrish. But her newly freed, bird-like lifestyle slowly crumbles because she needs more funds, and the government took away most of her dearest abusive husband's assets. She has to find other sources and leave the scene before her husband's release from prison. Thankfully, Jackson, the husband of the century, directs her to a yacht where she finds a secret treasure that may help her build a new life in a European country with a new identity.
Unfortunately, her detailed plan fails when her husband is released earlier from his cage, coming up with a plan they can both benefit from before parting ways. Jackson is adamant about deceiving Daphne, making her believe he's a changed man to take him back, and Amber needs to get her revenge on a woman who was publicly humiliated by a ghost from her past: Daisy Ann, the daughter of her first husband she killed and got away with.
They both decide to scratch each other's back and help their schemes work perfectly to get what they want.
After her daughter Tallulah's attempts to escape to see her father, Daphne reluctantly leaves California alongside her two daughters to rent a place in Bishops Harbor she never intended to return to. She already agrees to let her daughters spend limited, supervised time with their fathers for only two months. Could Jackson find a way to get back into her life? What kind of danger awaits Daphne by stepping into the minefield she escaped before?
Well, as I said before, this is a gripping, well-written domestic/psychological thriller with a satisfying outcome that I can honestly recommend.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine/Bantam for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest opinions. -
INCREDIBLE!!!
I start by saying, please please read the prequel, The First Shot, before starting this. Everything will make so much more sense!
I don’t want to say too much since it’s book #2 and don’t want to accidentally give any spoilers, but let me just say if you loved the first book, you will love this one too!
Full of suspense, audible gasps, and the overall NEED to know what’s about to happen calls for a great read. It picks up perfectly from the first book, with little tidbits of information that I had forgotten about since reading the Last Mrs Parrish. Absolutely recommend this!
Thank you so much to Random House, NetGalley and Liv Constantine for the chance to read this eARC of the sequel to my all time favorite book!! -
3.5 stars rounded up.
when this was announced, I wasn't exactly sure why we were going back to the world of Daphne and Amber as I thought the first book works as a single story. however once I got into the meat of the book, I felt like the authors Constantine had a personal reason for a sequel, as this one touches on slightly darker themes and tones.
I feel like there's not too much I can say about the plot without spoiling the original book. I admit I found Amber's storyline less engaging, but themes of money/blackmail are never my cup of tea, but Daphne's storyline was a lot more interesting and I can see a lot of women relating to her character. she's more resilient this time around, and I was on edge to see what would happen between her and Jackson. -
Don't believe any of these accounts saying they read it. They are fake and just trying to boost the hype on this book. They all have 10 friends, never read the first book, and haven't added a book to read since 2021/2022.

PLEASE READ "THE FIRST SHOT" PRIOR TO READING THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH
-
The long awaited ending to The Last Mrs. Parrish is finally here. Lots of twists, deceit and conniving in this book. Is there possible to be a worse character than Amber? The authors do an amazing job at making a despicable character. Old money, new money, revenge and lies. Definitely read The Last Mrs. Parrish and the prequel The First Shot before jumping into this one. Thank you netgalley for the arc!

Ahhhhh I am an OG Parrish fan so being back with Amber and Daphne’s POVs was so fun for me. There is a lot going on but I liked how everything tied together. Amber and Jackson are just as crazy and creepy as ever 😂
-
How do I begin. Not all sequels work - Freida McFadden's The Housemaid and Nina Prose's The Maid series are two prime examples.
I loved the first book from Liv Constatntine - The Last Mrs. Parrish. I found it shocking, thrilling, and I rooted for Daphne to get away from these evil people - her abusive husband Jackson, and fake sociopath BFF Amber. When it ended, I thought that would be enough of these two.
Now that there is a sequel, I am disgusted by the characters.
When jackson gets out of prison after a seven month tax evasion sentencing, he comes back for Daphne with a vengeance. Amber, is still on the prowl, to find ways to destroy someone's life, whether it be Daphne, her two year old son Jax, she had with Jackson, WHOEVER it is, including Daisy Ann, in full Texas wealth as an heiress with a past connected to Amber.
Worse comes to worse, and for whatever reason, Daphne GOES BACK TO VISIT JACKSON. I couldn't believe it. While it happened obviously for the reader, there's no way in hell this could be a redeeming force for action. There's no mother out there that would actually think this was ok. All because her oldest daughter Tallulah was "acting out." Therapy and the truth doesn't seem to work for this confused family, and it sickened me to the core to see them reunite. Ugh.
By the middle, I could barely take it. The book had too many sociopaths and enablers. I wanted this book to be over, and hopefully this is the very LAST Parrish book we have to encounter, though something tells me readers who enjoy this series will want more.
Thanks Netgalley for my advanced copy! -

Rating (5/5) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing for this eARC. I really enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish and was excited to learn that the sequel was available on Netgalley! I was even more excited when Netgalley approved my request. 😊 This book does not disappoint. It’s told from 3 different characters’ points of view and flows very nicely throughout. Could not put this one!
If you enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish, you will like the sequel. I recommend reading the prequel, The First Shot, before reading this. -
Very unrealistic, but pretty fast paced.
All of the plot twists that made the ending of the first book so good were watered down and explained away very quickly.
And unfortunately, the plot twists in this book made me roll my eyes 😭 -
Wow! I thought the first book was good. THIS ONE WAS GREAT! Love these characters, didn’t want it to end. Literally couldn’t put this book down. Will be talking about this book for weeks and recommending to everyone I know.
-
Ok, for the first 200 pages, I thought this book was so unrealistic. I had to force myself to keep reading. But then comes the twist. And it all starts to make sense. No spoilers, but all I'll say to readers who are unsure is stick with it. It's well worth it. Overall, it was a compelling story with a satisfying ending.
-
What a wild ride! I highly recommend reading the prequel novella, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘵, before diving in. The Next Mrs. Parrish perfectly tied into the tangled web of the other two books, and it did not disappoint!
..𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩, 𝙛𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚.. We had all the makings of a psychological thriller that I couldn’t put down.
Thank you to Liv Constantine, Random House Publishing and NetGally for the advanced copy! -
Such a quick fun read as we are catapulted back into the lives of Daphne, Amber and Jackson!! They’re at it again with their schemes and it’s a fun ride to see who will come out on top this time!
-
The Last Mrs. Parrish has consistently been a book that I recommend to non-readers looking to start reading, so I had high hopes when I got the notice I'd received a copy of the second in the series.
Told between three alternating POVs (with one aside later through Jackson's eyes), the book is interesting, but at times I found myself waiting for ~something~ to happen. I can't really describe what that something is, because actually a lot is happening the entire time, it just felt like the pacing was sort of off, with everything picking up in the back half and then really escalating around 75%. I was definitely hooked and wanted to know what was going to happen, but I don't know that I'll be pushing this one the same way I heavily recommend the first one. The curse of the sequel, right?
*Thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Bantam, and NetGalley for the ARC!* -
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting access to this book in exchange for my honest review!
I was SO excited to get this book. I enjoyed the first book in the Mrs. Parrish series and I have read 3 or 4 other books by Liv Constantine and they do not disappoint. They are the perfect blend of drama and thriller. I might compare it to guilty pleasure reality tv but in book form. I have to wonder if there may be a third book in the Mrs. Parrish series (4th if you count the prequel). Even though I think the book wrapped up things nicely, I would still enjoy another book in this series,
I am very much looking forward to the next book by Liv Constantine.
"The Next Mrs. Parrish" will be published on 6/18/2024. -
This sequel was about furthering the story lines with Jackson, Amber and Daphne. It was a pretty good read however I wish I would have reread the last Mrs Parrish. There were points where I was confused and couldn’t remember things in the first book. The next Mrs Parrish jumps right in to where the previous book left off. The ending of this book was very good, and I felt like all my questions got answered and everybody got what they deserved. Thank you for the ARC!

I just finished the exhilarating sequel, The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine, a bewitching guessing game that will leave you entranced and yearning for yet another installment - a resounding 5-star triumph!1

Exclusive, wild turns, the female characters have beautiful names
-
As an avid fan eagerly anticipating the release of "The Next Mrs. Parrish," I was fortunate enough to get my hands on an advance copy, and let me tell you – it was well worth the wait! Liv Constantine has truly outdone themselves with this sequel, crafting a narrative that effortlessly surpasses the brilliance of the first part.
From the very beginning, the characters in "The Next Mrs. Parrish" come to life with a vividness that is both captivating and unnerving. The speed at which the plot unfolds keeps readers on the edge of their seats, with twists and turns that are as unexpected as they are thrilling. The intricate web of lies continues to grow, ensnaring everyone in its path, and the resolution is nothing short of satisfying as each character receives what they truly deserve.
What sets this novel apart is the masterful exploration of the characters' psyche, especially those who have endured abusive relationships. The portrayal is both raw and authentic, capturing the essence of the emotional toll such relationships can take. The freedom and liberation experienced by those who break free from the shackles of abuse are depicted with a poignant realism that resonates long after the final pages.
One of the novel's strengths lies in its ability to evoke conflicting emotions towards the villains. Are they truly detestable, or is there a glimmer of sympathy for the hardships they've faced? Liv Constantine skillfully navigates these gray areas, leaving readers questioning their own perceptions and moral compass.
The theme of maternal instinct and the lengths a mother will go to protect her children adds a powerful layer to the narrative. The novel portrays the resilience and courage of mothers facing their worst nightmares head-on, emphasizing the strength found in the face of adversity.
Additionally, the book sheds light on the pervasive issue of power dynamics, exposing the dark reality of individuals who exploit their influence to prey on the vulnerable. This societal commentary adds depth to the story, making it not only a compelling thriller but also a thought-provoking exploration of human nature.
In conclusion, "The Next Mrs. Parrish" is a true masterpiece that exceeds all expectations. Liv Constantine has crafted a gripping and emotionally charged narrative that delves into the complexities of relationships, abuse, and the indomitable spirit of those who strive for freedom. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to read this outstanding sequel before its official release as an Advance Reader Copy. It is a must-read for anyone seeking thrilling literary experience. -

4,5 ⭐️
My favourite duo has a new book, I am beyond excited to get early access to this! I enjoyed all of their books, but “The Last Mrs Parrish” was my favourite. I was a bit sceptical at first, because sequels are usually not my thing. But I was very willing to give it a try!
The cover is exquisite, I love the combinations of the colours. Would have most definitely picked it up!
Jackson is in prison and Amber is enjoying her life at the top of society but funds are running low.
On the other side of the country Daphne enjoys her freedom as well, but it’s short lived as thirteen-years-old Talulah is rebelling and wanting to see her father.
The addition of Daisy Ann felt very weird at the beginning, who is the wealthy, beautiful woman from Texas? How is she linked to the other two women? But after a few of her chapters I got what was going on. More enemies for Amber, though I would have liked the focus to be even more on Jackson and Daphne.
Amber was as conniving as ever, while Daphne’s oldest daughter added the right touch of drama and teenage rebellion. I wanted to shake her so many times!
Jackson is as despicable as always, trying to find new ways to gaslight Daphne and get her back to love with him.
All in all it was a very enjoyable read. I liked all the characters, even the ones you’re supposed to despise. It was fabulous to be back in their world, as I’d never have expected a sequel.
The story was easy to get into and there was enough of subtle catching up in the beginning. It didn’t feel repetitive, but was a good opportunity to freshen up my memory, it’s been a while since I read book one.
I would however not recommend reading this as a standalone, you’d be confused about what happened before.
I know is this is a fictional story and not everything can logical, but I would have really hoped for Daphne to have recorders Jackson. I was thinking that so many times, especially when she was at the beach house.
The only thing I did not care for was all the business scheming that was going on, never interested me before and it has not changed now, I fear.
⭐️Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy. All opinions are my own, I was under no obligation to review. -
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group - Ballentine and Bantam for providing this book, with my honest review below.
I was excited for The Next Mrs. Parrish when I heard it existed in early January having read the first book and prequel in the series. With the opportunity to preview this, I knew many in my community were also interested and am glad I had the chance to provide feedback.
There is always a lot of build up when you enjoy the first book, and with it the risk that expectations may not be met. While this is different from The Last Mrs. Parrish I found it well done and a suitable continuation that didn’t overly rest on the plot and expected twists from the first book. I also enjoyed that this made the prequel worth reading. We once again see Amber machinate, Daphne protecting her children, and Jackson coming back to the mix. This time around we are introduced to new characters that enrich the story as well. I did wish to learn about Amber or see more character development for her (even taking her deeper into the dark side) and I did think the storyline and characters associated with the diamonds was new to this world and didn’t necessarily fit well. But all that said this is a solid addition to the series which is a hard task when a first book is so beloved. The twists aren’t as dramatic (though one came close) but I would recommend this book to those wanting to revisit the characters and not feel disappointed doing so. I would recommend reading the first book as a requirement and the prequel will help with the reading but being blind to it won’t take away from the story. -
I don't think I have ever despised a character as much as I did Amber, a narcissistic sociopath out for revenge, also married to a male version of herself. Oddly enough, she was also a huge part of what made this book so good, keeping me racing through the pages dying to know what happens next in her devious journey. Having loved the first novel, I had high hopes for this one, and it did not disappoint. I loved reading what happened in everyone's lives following The Last Mrs. Parrish, and just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, they did. This was full of twists, turns, and surprises all around. The ending took an insidious and, in my opinion, perfect turn. For any fans of the previous novel or even for new fans, I highly recommend this one. Do not worry about remembering anything because this successfully catches the reader up with the story with no confusion whatsoever. Four and a half stars.
Thank you, Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group, for this ARC. -
The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine is a domestic thriller filled with lies and deception. This book takes place after the first book The Last Mrs. Parrish. Make sure you read that book first. There is even a novella called the First Shot that will give you more background into Amber.
I could not put this book down and loved every minute of the twisty ride it took me on. It is hard to review and not give anything away but I enjoyed the characters and loved to hate a few. I was engaged in each of the characters storylines and kept trying to predicting how everything was related and how it would play out in the end.
I loved being back in Bishop Harbor high society again. If you liked the first book then I think you will enjoy this one as well.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group- Ballantine for an ARC of this book. I voluntarily read it and gave an honest review. -
A few years ago, when I first read The Last Mrs. Parrish, I rated it 2 stars. Ever since then, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I knew it was super popular and hyped. I thought I may have been too harsh on that rating. So when I was approved for The Next Mrs. Parrish, I changed my rating to 3 stars.
After reading The Next Mrs. Parrish, I was reminded why I rated it so low initially. The decisions the characters make to move the plot forward does not make sense. It makes for a frustrating and unenjoyable read. Jackson is always impossibly one step ahead of Daphne while also being one step behind Amber.
The Next Mrs. Parrish introduces us to Daisy Ann but I don’t think she’s centered in the story enough for the reader to care and makes for a very convenient ending.
I think this book suffers from the infamous Unnecessary Sequel category.
That being said, will I read anything by this author? Yes.
Will I be seated when The Last Mrs. Parrish movie releases? Also yes.
