"The Achilles Legend" is an action-packed adventure that takes listeners on a thrilling journey through myth and legend. Narrated by John Pirhalla, this audiobook is the 4th installment in the Harry Fox series, and it delivers the same high-stakes suspense and fast-paced action that fans have come to expect from author Andrew Clawson.

The story follows Harry Fox, a seasoned adventurer who finds himself allied with former enemies in a quest to uncover a mythical city and protect a legendary warrior. With danger at every turn, Harry must use all his skills and experience to overcome impossible odds and make an impossible choice.

John Pirhalla delivers a captivating performance, bringing Harry Fox and the other characters to life with his expert pacing and engaging voice. His narration adds depth and excitement to the story, making the action scenes even more thrilling and the emotional moments more poignant.

One of the strengths of "The Achilles Legend" is its seamless blending of myth and legend with modern-day action and adventure. The story raises thought-provoking questions about the nature of heroism and the cost of power, while also delivering non-stop action and suspense.

The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns, making it difficult for listeners to put the audiobook down. While some may find the story formulaic, the well-developed characters and expert narration more than make up for it.

Overall, "The Achilles Legend" is a thrilling adventure that will leave listeners on the edge of their seats. With its engaging characters, expert narration, and heart-pounding action, it's an audiobook that's not to be missed. I highly recommend it to fans of action and adventure stories, as well as those who enjoy a good dose of myth and legend.

This book was an interesting read. I had not read anything written by Andrew Clawson, so the book was an introduction to the Harry Fox series and to the author. Here are some positive observations about the book:
    1. The author has a talent in writing action scenes and has put together an interesting and complex story. In fact, there are multiple stories within the book that seem to be taking place at the same time, which keep the reader engaged.
    2. The background information for this historical fiction book has been adequately researched. The author has incorporated the historical information into the story in a way that is respectful to the reader and does not preach; the facts are part of the story.
    3. The characters are unique and complex, with good and bad aspects to their personalities and backgrounds. Sometimes the “heroes” make mistakes in their judgements and motives, which make them seem real and not stereotypes.
    4. I appreciate that there are no supernatural events that take place. There are mysterious puzzles, codes, explorations, secret hidden places, and traps. The heroes must navigate these challenges toward lost relics by using their own wits and physical strength; the heroes suffer consequences for their risks and errors, all while being chased by a network of Russians who are try to outwit them to steal the relics.
    5. I also appreciate that there was no offensive language. The author discretely writes that someone curses and leaves it up to the reader’s imagination. This way there is nothing to distract from the story. There are some hugs of close friends and colleagues, but no sex scenes, so this I also appreciated. Young adults who were interested in the topic could read the book, maybe even those as young as twelve. To fully comprehend what is happening, if would help to know a little about ancient Egyptian history, Roman and Greek gods, Russians, and the Mafia! (Hey read the book, I’m not going to spoil it). There are adults who smoke and engage in social drinking.
Story Locations: [England: Windsor, London; New York City: Brooklyn, Manhattan; Turkey: Canakkale, Istanbul; Greece: Sparta, Pella, Athens, Litochoro, Mount Olympus; Egypt: Luxor, Giza, Cairo; Lebanon: Beirut]
Can the book be read as a standalone novel? I would be a person to know. Yes, I was able to read it without having read the previous books. I did get the feeling that I was missing some back stories, but as I kept reading some of my questions were answered. I do think that I would want to go back and read the first books, because I am now interested in the characters and what they were doing before I met them. The story does have a twist at the end and an ending that did not leave me hanging. However, it’s like reading a mystery series; I was left with the knowledge that there will be continuing adventures for Harry Fox.
Improvements could be made to the book. The author has an authentic and unique style of writing. Some editing could assist in the book being easier to read.
There are no misspelled words. I would have liked more in it about the Achilles Legend. I did look up something about it on my own (which is good because it shows that I got interested in the topic).
I received an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) for my honest review of the book.

Nooooo I need to wait until next year for the next Harry Fox book. Another fantastic story from this series. Highly recommend these books and advise you to start from the beginning. The author gives you stories within stories which draws you into the adventure along with the star Harry. He is such a likeable and interesting character. A lot of research has gone into these books and the author uses this as a basis and turns them into adventures that span the globe. Superbly written, great characters and a story to keep you turning the pages.

    Another Great Harry Fox Adventure!

From New York to Europe, to Greece, to Istanbul, to Alexandria, and the Pyramids. Throw in the previously introduced villain from a rival family, and add a wealthy Russian ex-pat collector. Plus all the usual Harry Fox narrow escapes. And two formidable lady scholarly bad-a#$ es and you have this latest book in a nutshell. Of course, there is more: much, much more! But now you must read this excellent book! A++ Bravo!!

Can’t seem to get enough of Harry Fox’s adventures. The Achilles Legend is a wonderful adventure through Ancient Greek legends and also Egyptian. Trying to do two separate searches, one for himself and the other for a famous relic, Harry depends on his friend Sara to help him. Their adventures will leave you mesmerized and itching for more.

Ancient history, the likes you have never heard before!

I loved the concept of the past being interpreted with the modern human egos.
